So, for things to do:Off topic, but I have a chance to visit Oxford for a day in October. Given that Ruby is no help, maybe someone here could give some recommendations?
1. If you like parks, Christchurch Meadow, University Parks, Parsons Pleasure and Port Meadow are all places to visit.
2. Good places to eat include Spiced Roots on Cowley Road, Taylors (for lunch) G&D for dessert and ice-cream!
3. Good pubs depends on your vibe, but The Half Moon was always my haunt at university. The Lamb and Flag also has good vibes, The White Horse is the "Morse Pub" as filming was done there, but the Eagle and Child is referenced in a lot of Morse novels (as the Bird and Baby).
3a. If you have favourite shows set/filmed in Oxford it can be quite fun to go around and find the filming locations. A lot of them are near the Bridge Of Sighs, or on Merton street.
4. For shops: There is The Alice Shop opposite Christchurch, lots of independent shops in the Covered Market, that street of shops up in north Oxford near Kellogg College.
5. You can do a Bodlean tour, and if you email the librarians of certain colleges (Corpus Christi I think do it) you might be able to get a tour of the college library.
6. Most colleges will show you around if you claim to be a prospective student.
Oxford is full of stuff to do, it's very impressive ruby managed to make it look so dull.
