I would like to note that I don't give a shit about anyone's opinion of the royals/harry/megan/Spare - it's a controversial subject and I feel like it's going to completely derail the conversation, when we really should be focusing on why the fuck ruby still hasn't learn to brush her hair without ripping it all out.

Also on the list of things she never learnt: how to light a candle without tunneling it, how to pour liquids without spilling them, and how to be a functioning adult without relying on mummy, daddy, and stolen charity money to get by
I'm wondering if she's justifying her reading of children's books as ' recommendations for students.' I was also wondering who she's teaching as Pipers Corner is 4-18 year olds from I understand, so I'm wondering if she's with the really young children instead of the teenagers as we've been thinking. Though the young ones might only have one teacher who does everything like UK primary schools and Ruby is with the older students. Just had that thought.
I don't get why she just doesn't admit to loving middle grade books.

I laughed out loud when she made a mess with the coffee. I am very clumsy and I often pour things sloppily but I don't share my uncoordinated self with the rest of the world. Jesus.

I tried to find gameplay footage of the book club section without voiceover commentary online and this was the best I could find:

(The book club discussion is from 36:50-41:25)

Wow, thank you so much! I'm genuinely chuffed you took the time to find that for me. Thanks for going out of your way 🙂

There is no interview for an English literature masters at Oxford afaik. I think it’s likely she will get in.. there is around 65 places per course and only around 75 applicants (that does vary by specific course though). It’s not that competitive providing you have a first. She fits all the criteria on paper…
OK that's interesting. I could see her potentially getting in then if its only based on GPA. Somehow I can't help but think that her Personal Statement will be her undoing.

Did she put kidney beans on a pizza????

That collar is so much worse than I expected. How has she shared that?

Cba with her resolutions, Ruby has nothing to say at the best of times but even worse when she's trying to be inspirational or teach people something.
I was more offended by the corn on the pizza 🤣

That was my first thought, too. I Googled "carlisle jumper" and it looks like there is a brand called Carlisle who sell really expensive ($300+ per jumper) women's clothing though, so maybe that's what she meant.

They're not a househould brand that many people have heard of as far as I'm aware, so my SponsorSense is telling me they gifted her the jumper ages ago and it's an undeclared ad. Her saying "it's the thickest Carlisle jumper I own" implies she owns multiple, but who knows what Ruby means with her tenuous grasp of the English language.

I mean, she keeps on talking about "the space between the eyes" when talking about being mindful, when I'm sure what she should be saying is "what's right in front of me". This is the second time she's said it this month. Unless she's literally just sat cross-eyed, counting the fake freckles on the bridge of her nose as a means of relaxation.

I think she meant Fairisle jumper due to the pattern.

Oh my god she's such an idiot, she's going on about how you miss the beauty in the language when watching Shakespeare's plays. Firstly, they're PLAYS, so they're intended to be performed. Secondly, they're saying the same words?? The performance of the language is still the language?? She's such a fake, it doesn't make you more of a literature lover because you literally prefer reading the words.
She is one of those kind of people who every time she opens her mouth just reiterates previous impressions that she's a dozy mare.

She bought a cottage a few years ago. There was a vlog about it but the video's been removed, probably due to privacy issues and backlash. I'm pretty sure she rents it out. I know Ruby earned lots of money through YouTube, but I'm guessing her parents helped financially too? But yes, she does have the option of moving into her own place.
Yeah pretty sure she rents it out

thats why I specifically didn't buy glass straws but metal straws.

I haven't watched her video yet. maybe I do that tomorrow. I was busy the last day with looking for jobs and I'm a bit frustrated right now. I really should become a Youtuber and post my morning routine ... Getting out of bed at around nine, brushing my teeth, making my bed, open different windows wide to let fresh air in, breakfast, newspaper. maybe doing something for work. feeling down because I search for jobs and they all want 100 years of experience. feeling bad because I'm in my late 30s and I feel like I don't have enough to show for. and than those youtubers throw it in my face with how easy it all is.
Unfortunately this world revolves around a case of who you know not what you know. I hope at the very least Ruby isn’t filling those children’s heads up with dumb expectations of what it means to be a good student, especially seeing as they probably have more pressure of them given there parents have paid for them to be educated and expect them to have high grades.

This. Jade is the worse of all the studytubers IMO. Ruby is cringier (actually, could be debated) but Jade is...something else. Her deleted "apology" for going to a dick appointment across countries, wondering why South Korea "was so empty" because everyone was quarantining, her very concerning posts about "teehee I killed a rabbit!" and fetishizing Asian and South American people, filming and talking about random children for an uncomfortable amount of time, her MLM scammy dad, "casual magic" just don't be depressed spiel, etc.
I withdraw my assessment of Jade lol. Going on the record with it: Jade is NOT the most 'well-rounded'. I fucked up when I said that, worded it wrongly. My statement was more in the context of living an adult life, moving forward, experiencing the world. And it was a comparison with Roob's life as portrayed on her channel. Ruby hasn't left the nest at all and is still using mummy and daddy's RV for videos, getting driven around my Mother Granger. Ruby is definitely cringier, as you say. And I think i was using the 'who is cringier' test to pick the best of a cringy bunch lol. Although 'casual magic' is quite cringe...especially when Jade says it lol

Exactly, and it’s not like she’d have trouble affording insurance/lessons/a car either so I don’t get why she hasn’t bothered to learn. You can’t live in the sticks at that age and be still relying on your parents to take you to work every morning.
Really, this. Its not cool to be depending on your parents for lifts. And it kinda sucks being a young adult with no independence, living in the sticks.

Fuck a 40 min walk, she should learn to drive lmao
That too. Its a bit unsafe, as well as exhausting.

I'm sure there is a fee just for applying for an Oxford masters course (about £100 off the top of my head), and if you don't succeed I'm not sure if you get it refunded? Again, it shows how much money she has (and how she doesn't value it).
You never get a refund, even if you're not accepted or you are but decide not to study there.

That's because she's pretending her freckles are real. She put them on before applying makeup, hence why they're all streaky when she's done :D
I noticed this only when I read it in this thread 🙈

It's true freckles don't smear if they are real.

I'm still wondering if she uses a "freckle pen" or a pointed brush covered in brown eyeliner 🧐

I'm surprised she's reading Spare. I guess she's jumping on the popular book bandwagon, but it's still nothing like her usual reading material. It's also not what I expected from Ruby, girl who tries to avoid all controversial opinions. 😂
I bet she only reads the first chapter then pretends it is amazing.

Speaking about Ruby filling up her day with random stuff you'd do if you had time off work or to relax after work; I wonder how she doesn't get bored of it. I'm a uni student, and I struggle with pretty bad anxiety; I'm unable to go to my lectures most of the time as I worry too much, and I usually fill my day with reading, watching Netflix, going on walks, etc. After two days of doing that, I get so fed up I could feel myself going crazy! I don't understand how she does all these things every day, and it's because she can earn money from it, so she doesn't care. (it also does not help that her job consists of easy things to do.. she doesn't have to deal with customers face to face, annoying co-workers, and all other things you get for having a job.)

I've noticed that Ruby never talks up the Brontës, even though the sisters and their writing would seem to be perfectly aligned with her online image and purported interests. How does a supposed lover of literature, Victoriana, and moody atmospherics routinely ignore the Brontës? Too violent? Too sexy? Whatever the reason, I get the feeling she's not a fan, so it'll be interesting if she has to do some kind of academic instruction on Wuthering Heights.
I remember her hyping up Villette on Tik tok a few months ago, probably hasn't actually read it though!

Yeah exactly, and in the last clips she's back in the first outfit and says she leaves for work at 9am - to work in a school?? Like if that's true, this job she's got is cushier than I already imagined...
I have not watched the video yet, but that's nothing unusual if she does part time. Which I think she said at some point. If you don't teach the first hour of a day, you just leave at like 9, and other days you might be teaching from 8 to 5 or whatever.

Guys I need to unwatch this thread, @gossip_guy’s Ruby impression is becoming my default internal monologue. Someone said something incorrect at work just now and my brain immediately went “um ACKSHULLY” 😭😭
As long as you don't verbalise that way, it's all fine 😉
