I never knew being head girl is such a big deal in the UK? in my home country we have something like head boy/head girl, but I would say 90% of students don't care at all who that is, is it really true that most student look up to "their" head girl?
My school didn't have Head Girl or Boy, probably because it was the large inner city comprehensive with no airs and graces.

I do think Ruby needs to draw the line on visiting the school. You couldn't pay me to to go back to mine. Even when they knocked the building down and rebuilt it after I left, they did an open day for alumni to go visit it, I was like "nah, I don't want to revisit the past".

It's definitely more of a thing in private schools. Same with houses and other similar traditions. I went to a bog-standard state school and we did have them, but the Head Boy/Girl didn't really do anything and the houses meant nothing except what team you'd be in on sports day.

I'm actually quite surprised Ruby never tried to get involved in student council/SU committee stuff at uni, considering what a big deal she made out of being head girl. A campaign video all about her running to be Head Girl of Exeter University would be peak comedy if nothing else.

Also a special quote from this video "And then I've got these... haihrclips as well which... are antlers and syo very nice and chrissensea and... I kyow that it's July... but I don't think... that chrissas haahclips should be reserved for only Christmas because then yoo don't get to wear them for the rest of the yeahh". Ruby says this while wagging her finger at us to reassure that she definitely knows what month it is, and then stares into the distance for a second as though she's trying to remember if she had more to say than just proudly stating the month, then awkwardly rushes the final bit.
What a qUIrKy thought Rubbertree! But surely this is the point of holiday items? You bring them out during the holiday? Maybe this is another plot to be able to insert/ reuse old footage and claim it happened recently. Maybe Ruby will start randomly wearing holiday-themed clothes and putting up decorations. Ruby probably: "Yes this was definitely filmed in August, I just always wear Santa hats while dyeing eggs and listening to spooky music! We shouldn't reserve them!! 🥴"
That collar/shirt needs burning. Argh.

We had houses and both Head and Deputy Head Girls/Boys in my state secondary (massive school, 1600 kids.) There wasn't a lot of interest in the posts. They managed to get me and 2 other girls running for Head Girl, and 2 boys ran for Head Boy and the head of sixth REALLY didn't want either of them to win, going so far as to keep assuming another boy was running even though he never announced his intention and never wanted to run (and told the head of sixth form as much repeatedly.) I got Deputy, but I'm 99% sure it was a fix by the head of sixth because of the tit he pulled on the Head Boy Race. That, and there were times he would ask me to do what should have been Head Girl business instead of the Head Girl... while she was sitting not 5 feet from me.

Anyway, it consisted of little more than helping out on parents evenings (something I enjoyed and had volunteered in the past to do anyway) and attending a couple of youth council meetings. I'm really not sure what extra business Ruby had to do to justify it being on her CV. It never made it to mine, even when I was applying for jobs in Sixth form.

Okay, she’s now had her real name live streamed, can she possibly ever drop the Granger now 😂🙃
You'd hope so, but it's unlikely. She hardly advertised the live stream (and I would imagine they would have been told about it, it being for loved ones who couldn't make it to the actual event.) She was probably still trying to keep up the pretence of anonymity her false last name gives her.

BONES ? BONES IS HER REAL LAST NAME ? Yo that's kind of a cool last name for real I'm a bit mad. Why would she prefer Granger. I have a friend who's last name actually is Granger and she hates it so much lmao.

Was just watching a video from march of 2020, and it reminded me Ruby was in therapy for a while back then. She notes in the video (what I spend in a week as a UK 19yo University Student) that she only had 3 weeks left.

Is it possible that all the work she did pre-pandemic on herself was totally undone by the pandemic? I would think we would know if she was in therapy again, as she was more or less open about it at the time. It would explain why she was seeming to get better and then plummeted back again.

She went with Granger because of Hermione Granger (she loved doing Hermione Granger impersonations in secondary school) and I guess it was also a privacy measure.
Now that we all know her name and she no longer does Hermione content, she may as well go by Bones.

I think it was more that she treated therapy like another busywork to-do list and she ticked it off as "complete" like yet another mindless task in her planner. I doubt she was honest with herself or her therapist or worked on her mental health in any real way. If she had, therapy would be an ongoing thing and not something she went to as a short-course, easily "completed" thing.

The pandemic wasn't the cause of her decline though, Ruby rushing to use it as a conveniently-timed excuse to run home and try to become a child again was. Every time she talked about feeling anxious about the pandemic, it was in her fake acting voice, performatively rubbing her eyes like a VARRY SAD GARL. She then went onto ignore almost all Covid safety guidelines in full view. It was clearly lies. She just wanted to be home with mummy and regress into childhood, and the pandemic was her golden ticket.

I don't think she was a healthy person before then, and her ED habits, narcissistic personality traits and childhood fixation were there long before, but she was forced to be away from home more, be around a lot more people who wouldn't enable her so she reined in her worst habits and childish impulses a lot more. But living in her room for a year with nobody to keep her in check and no pressure to conform to societal norms and act like a grownup, she went off the deep end.

If she'd forced herself to stay at uni, she'd likely be in a healthier place, but I think it would've only delayed things. She'd still rush home after graduation and do the exact same thing she's doing now.

I mean it can't be very easy with the cap :D I wish them both a happy day!
Ruby's overjoyed that she'll never have to leave her bedroom to go to Exeter ever again.
Blakeney's ecstatic that she'll never have to see Ruby ever again.

It's a wonderful day for them both!

I’m sure she also mentioned somewhere that the therapist was someone her mum knew? Or something like that. So that 1) seems slightly inappropriate and you wonder how open Ruby ever felt she could be and 2) the ‘therapy’ probably involved essential oils or somesuch. Not knocking those but Ruby’s issues aren’t the sort that are ever going to be solved with a tincture of lavender …

Off-topic but I checked her following list on Instagram yesterday because I was hoping to find her vegan account (I don’t follow it and wanted to see if anything new was posted there) and I was wondering if Ruby ever talked of either wanting children or working with young children?
I saw she followed these two hashtags filled with pictures of young kids:

F364341A-6DA5-4150-B35D-817DE2E25533.jpeg

And while I do find children cute (as someone who wants to have one when the time will be right), I find it quite unusual to follow hashtags like that unless you are a parent, want to be one or work/find yourself usually surrounded with kids (nieces and nephews etc.)… And in Ruby’s case, it’s even a bit weird.

But well, I guess it’s Ruby we’re talking about, it’s most likely for her to get inspiration for her aesthetic. It just sits strange with me, especially with everything else she does (the speech at her old school etc.).

Well, Exeter is a much bigger pond than her school so there's a possibility she wouldn't automatically be the one in charge of everything. Additionally, student committees in university often try to actually do things like put on events and advocate for students, which would require talking to people and compromising.
