Her parents should take her to the therapist, and I don't understand why they don't care about her mental health.
It seems like they, or at least Mother Granger, are just as bad as her. Obviously they can't force her to get medical care, but if they were mentally healthy themselves surely they would have told her that she can't keep living her current lifestyle on their bank account unless she sees a doctor/therapist. As it is Mother Granger seems to actively indulge/encourage a lot of her behaviour, which makes me think she may not exactly be all there herself... I know it can be difficult for parents seeing their kids grow up and move away, maybe she likes still having a child around?

I looked them up and Eve is, according to their website, an intern at BILD. BILD is like The Sun.
Gross, but also if you're just starting out in journalism you take the jobs you can get, because any experience is better than none. If she's an intern I'd guess she just applied to every internship she could and this is the one she got and couldn't really afford to say no on principle.

The fact that she can't articulate an analytic response to her degree result and feedback is bad enough, but the simplicity of her kindness, which she supposedly invests a lot of time in, being things like "saying thank you" and "writing Grandma a letter" is just a joke. Her brain clearly doesn't work independently enough for her not to have got that first through following guidelines rather than original thought.

Shocking Ruby update: The shredded armchair that she got from the house she owns and used as a spine-mangling office chair is now gone.

Is this the first smart decision Ruby's made this year? Has she bought an appropriate office chair for the 9 hours a day of sitting and moping at screens she does?

I don’t know if this is a private school thing and it’s just more of an everyone knows everyone cosy environment compared to normal schools
I do think this is true to an extent, though it probably varies from school to school. Private schools tend to be much smaller, so it's normal to know people from different years. That said, what Ruby's doing would still be considered strange even in that environment. And a lot of schools (most?) post their head girl news on the 'news' section of their website or in the school newsletter, so if she's really that desperate to find out she could just do a google search. No need to be there in person! I think Ruby is just looking for any excuse to go back to school tbh.

P.S. I noticed she's not in any rush to go back to Exeter. 😅

I just watched Eve Bennett's update video (clearly doing a round up of study youtubers I'd forgotten existed) and wow, what a difference in how she presents compared with Ruby. Seems like she's suddenly grown up, moving to London to pursue a vocational course, living with a boyfriend. I do find it really sad to see people like Ruby and Holly Gabrielle just haven't progressed past education. This studytube stuff probably doesn't help, they seem so socially stunted.
I haven’t watched it yet but I see myself comparing myself to Eve and ruby and I feel like I’m more ruby. RANT OFF TOPIC? I still live with my parents , I have no friends and I’m in my 4th year. But that’s okay, there’s lots of people my age still living at home and who haven’t found their group of friends or a significant other. Also Eve and ruby make a lot of money off YouTube. But after reading this whole thread I do know I shouldn’t compare myself to them both. Okay end of rant just felt like putting that out there, maybe someone feels the same as me.

Is she wearing huge mommy's heels? And why is she touching everything like a lunatic? This awkward video is so painful to watch, I get second-hand embarrassment.

It's so annoying how she makes such a big deal about getting up early when she has nowhere to be (not so much in this video, but generally). It's easy to get up at 5.30am when you don't have to get up, ready, dressed, fed before leaving the house to get the only bus/train that will get you to work on time. People get up earlier than she''d ever imagine every day because they have to and don't act like it makes them better than everyone else.

"I use The Ordinary serum that everyone seems to use" - which one?? They do a lot of serums, everyone has different needs for their skin. Just because the packaging is the same doesn't mean that it's the same product. It looks like niacinamide, I'm not sure if she's just not specifying because she's not sure how to pronounce it. She probably doesn't even know what it's for because she only seems to buy things (especially beauty and cosmetics) that are popular but higher end (although The Ordinary is very reasonable!). I do actually use this one though, very good for oil control.

"I went outside to eat my breakfast because it's been so warm recently" - "I was cold so I got a cardigan". Her brain is broken.

"Key events" - walk with mum.

What was that random one second clip of Mother Granger tossing her head about?

I'm glad she has time to labour over the effort of writing on a typewriter like that but if anyone has time to waste, it's her.

omg what did you do
Nothing, it was when I first discovered her and I knew nothing about her so I asked if she was a tory and her ops on brexit on one of her live streams and she straight up blocked me off her live and since then I’ve not been able to see her stories either 🥴. There were a few people fully trolling her though so I guess she thought I was taking the piss, but I was genuinely curious 😭

Guys covid dreams are real because why have I just had a dream I was in ikea with Ruby talking about and then there were none by Agatha Christie and I said its my favourite book and she said I've never actually read it I just said I have on goodreads then she asked me if I keep the free stuff you get in shout magazine???
You can tell it was a dream because Ruby admitted to having not read the book.

Get well soon!

I saw this earlier, and immediately thought of Ruby. If only someone would actually tell her that.
If she has any common sense, she'd have seen the red flags in her agent. She rushed to sign Ruby based on a complete mess of a first draft with no interesting concept, terrible writing and paper-thin characters. Almost no agent would touch a rough first draft, especially with the quality of writing and ideas that Ruby has to offer. Then her agent markets the book using her fake influencer name more prominently than the plot. Ruby's agent clearly only signed her for her name, not her writing.

Her agent also doesn't appear very successful, and the few sales she's had are to tiny independent publishers or one owned by/with direct ties to the literary agency, so that doesn't bode well for Ruby.

If Ruby genuinely wanted to succeed based on the quality of her writing, she'd have ditched the fake influencer name or used another wildly different pseudonym, never mentioned her writing on social media and slogged it out like any other writer would. But Ruby doesn't want to work at anything and her egotistical brain will twist any easy reward based on her privilege as a reflection of how special and gifted she is.

And she also clearly doesn't actually want to write or enjoy it. She's just chasing fame and fortune by choosing the closest profession she can think of to fit her fake bookworm persona and chose to write in the most marketable genre she could think of despite disliking YA fiction.

I don't think she's remotely prepared for the onslought of rejection she's going to get from publishers though. Her best case scenario is a tiny book deal from a publisher nobody's ever heard of, which she only got for her name and for which she'll receive almost nothing. That reality isn't going to sit well with Ruby and her dreams of massive literary success, £1million advances and movie adaptations.

I would also add that all the references to gr*oming and ped*philia and sexual abuse to be inappropriately used and quite demeaning to actual cases and victims.
Ruby is such a sexless person and that is usually remarked upon here along with her childish behaviour and mindset, but then it switches to “be careful out there” as if she’s Ted Bundy or something.

Yes, her attachment to the past is weird and it’s clear she’s got some issues. However, having a mentor-like relationship with girls who are interested in academia is actually not an evil thing. There are comments from girls who knew her as head girl and talk about how nice she was to them. Having experience with bullying and loneliness herself, she was probably a helpful figure for some of the girls. Haven’t you ever met the weird horse girl librarian who’s awkward but still nice and harmless? It’s the same energy for me.

I actually think that helping younger people is a nice trait to have and it’s honestly ridiculous how quickly it got compared to stories of people being sexually abused. Like, come on.
You're not wrong, in the sense that I don't think it's fair to make extremely serious accusations based on very little. There was nothing wrong with Ruby acting in a mentor capacity when she was Head Girl at school, or more generally with young people she still knows in her day-to-day life (relatives, family friends, etc). The real problem is when she tries to do the same with people she doesn't know, like young fans and online followers (like the whole letter-writing thing). She's not a trained educational professional, there are no safeguarding checks in place, and quite frankly I don't think she's in a place to be giving out advice considering how much unhealthy behaviour she's promoted on her channel before. It's irresponsible at best.

I also think that, even if nothing remotely untoward is going on, Ruby's obsession with childhood is still concerning. She continues to visit her old school even though she left years ago, almost exclusively engages with children's media, dresses like she's eleven, and hardly ever spends time with people her own age. That is not normal behaviour whatever the cause is. It's not good for her, she needs to grow up and get help, and I think the people around her are enabling her by letting her do this.

Lol same here, I live with my parents when not at uni and probably will be for foreseeable future and I have no friends at home🤷 I don't think it's circumstance that makes Eve and Ruby so different, it's their attitude. Ruby living in her childhood home wouldn't be an issue if she didn't seem to literally want to be a child and act like one

Did she really describe planes as 'flying like a red kite' LMFAO please.
She's an English graduate, why can't she think of a better metaphor? Especially as she's clearly reading from a pre-written script.

Given her first videos I'd say the camera quality is too good to be from when she was 12.
Which means she literally wore an outfit that looks exactly like a school uniform at age.. 22? She really should see a therapist and talk through this attachment to childhood :( the adult world really isn't that bad, Roobes
