I mean, I would eat an olive exactly (AXACTLY) the same way. I don't like them. They taste like ... I can't even describe how they taste to me.

watching a children's TV show is okay, I think. I do it too sometimes. Not only old ones I used to watch but also Netflix shows which are aimed at children, but are educational at the same time (there is an Australian one about koalas and a vet and her family, especially the 12ish year old daughter, who rescue them and later put them back into the wild. It's so cute and lovely to see the koalas). Just chilling on the sofa, knitting in hand, some cosy show for kids just to stop the mind spinning and spiralling because of the world. But if I had a dog or cat, I would let them be when they want to sleep in their favourite spot. I would sit next to the pet (if allowed! you never know with animals).
But other than Ruby, I also watch adult's shows and read books for adults (the occasional children's book is okay. it's like with children's TV, you sometimes need something light).

I think the problem is that it's not an isolated thing with Ruby. She does it with every food she eats in this video.

The tiny wedge of cheese, the small square of chocolate, the olive, the half a mini donut. They're all very small pieces of food that could be eaten in one bite (two in the case if the donut half) if she were eating normally, but she drags it out with numerous tiny little nibbles.

She eats everything like that now. I don't know if she's trying to trick her brain into thinking she's eating more than she is by chewing tiny bites of incredibly small pieces of food for far longer than necessary, but it's definitely not normal to eat all foods like that.

Same with TV/books - it wouldn't be worth mentioning if she sat down with the occasional kids' show or book in amongst more varied literature and TV, but she exclusively reads/watches things aimed at young children and clearly skims through anything else or just pretends to have read it.

Between this, her latest Insta post with quotes about looking to the past and never the future, the renewed interest in kids' shows and todays "work" space...

Not really related to the current topic of discussion but I wanted to know if I was the only person here who understands less and less what Ruby is pronouncing when she speaks?

English isn’t my first language and I’m hard of hearing (mildly, not severely, but it might play a role) so I usually read @gossip_guy’s amazing summaries to keep in touch but I tried to watch her latest video and found myself unable to understand some of her sentences, sometimes complete ones. And the fact that she tries SO hard to over-articulate words she mispronounces doesn’t help when you try to read on her lips

I know she apparently has a "posh" accent (I actually am terrible at differentiating accents, so I’m believing you all about that) but I could understand her more clearly a few years ago; since a few months, everything she says is gibberish but it also sounds like that! Even the YouTube subtitles can’t help all the time.

It would help a lot if Ruby would stop speeding up her videos and/or just talked more calmly, not trying to act as if she was trying to make a point 24/7 because the end result feels even more rushed than usual in my broken ears.

Christ, I don’t know how this is still a topic of conversation but no one is genuinely saying or believes Ruby is a paedophile or has sexual intentions.

They’re saying that trying to form relationships with children, where there is an age and mental maturity gap, just to facilitate your own longings for childhood crosses inappropriate boundaries and that unless safeguarding is in place or she’s performing a given role, it’s not something she should be doing and the adults around her shouldn’t encourage it. Case closed and I don’t know why that’s particularly controversial.

I went to an independent school with a fair amount of notable alumni and apart from coming in to give a few speeches about life after school, most people don’t look back. There is an old girls association that holds various events but none under the age of around 30 bothers. There’s nothing wrong with keeping in touch with your old school (I did work experience in my old primary school) it’s just that Ruby seems to like going back to act like a school girl again, not an adult talking to actual school students about her life after school. Also her want to find out who the head girl is every year is weird, tbh head students don’t really do that much, as far as I’m aware, it’s a great achievement but not something someone who left years ago should care about. If there was a Ruby at my school she would’ve been a laughing stock amongst students and some teachers.

I mostly went to state schools, but got a bursary/scholarship to go to a boarding school for the GCSE years. I have to second this post - it's not normal behaviour, even at private schools where 'networking' (I hate that word) is more common. Speaking from experience, it would be normal to:

-go to alumni events, e.g. dinners or class reunions (though the people attending these are usually a lot older, i.e. a few decades removed from their school days).
-maybe add a teacher as a Facebook friend once you've left the school.
-return to give a careers talk if you've done something interesting. I remember a professional golfer, an aircraft engineer, and someone who'd gone to do aid work in India. They would never invite themselves to do the talks, though; it's organised by the school.
-go to a fundraiser - but it wasn't a frequent thing.
-one girl returned for a year as a P.E. instructor because she was aiming for a job in sports coaching iirc.

Nobody would randomly turn up at the school after they'd left. I actually don't think it was allowed unless you had a good reason to be on the school grounds. Even the scenarios I've listed weren't that common. I went back to this school two years after leaving (to sit an exam) and needed a background check! Returning wasn't a fun experience either because none of my friends were there & I felt like a stranger in a familiar place. Also worth noting that a lot of the boarding students went back to their home countries and my friends were more likely to visit former classmates in these countries than go back to school.

I'm sorry this post is so long and rambling. I just can't emphasise enough how bizarre Ruby's head girl comment is, even by her standards. It's unhealthy and creepy behaviour.

btw I cleaned the screen of my MacBook today because you always point out Ruby's dirty screen. I should clean it more often.

Screens get dusty. It happens. Nobody needs to clean them every day.

But Ruby gets called out for it because it's one of the numerous things she compulsively lies about.

She constantly claims she AWLWHEYS disinFACTS her DASK, MONITOR, PHONE, ETC., AVVERY SINGLE DAY! When that's clearly just lies and everything she owns is always covered in dust and grime.

And with her laptop, she goes above and beyond to cover it in filth - every single inch of the screen is constantly covered in fingerprints (and dried dirt and god knows what else), even though it's not a touchscreen.

I have the impression that something else is being forgotten in this discussion – namely how she presents herself online, how she speaks and writes (!). She uses bizarre words over and over again ("exquisite"), seems to have a frighteningly limited vocabulary and is effectively unable to summarise and critically evaluate the books she claims to have read.

I am not saying that she put no work or effort into her degree, I am saying that it's sincerely a complete mystery to me how she achieved her grade. I've thought about many scenarios over the past few months – a paid ghostwriter for her essays or her dissertation? – and I simply cannot explain how such a huge gap between her online persona and her academic achievements has come about. But I do think it's fair to question and also criticise exactly that.

There is not a University MA programme in the land that would turn their nose up at a 74 for a dissertation mark. Not even Oxbridge. Why would they?

The problem would inevitably arise in an interview scenario, where our protAGONIST would decry her grade as paltry and how her dissertation actually deserved a much higher mark. Instant red flag.

Oxford doesn’t do interviews for masters courses. Offers are made based on transcript & statement of purpose. And she looks great on paper.

Was just going to say. Vee, I don't know much about you, but you've got to stop giving a platform to these people. Thank god the tickets are free. Can you imagine paying money to hear Ruby and Jade?

I think they share the same management. Is Vee another Sixteenth person? I think that's why both Jack and Ruby gave her book vague but positive reviews on Goodreads.

Vee is just as bad as them unfortunately. Her whole online presence is a vanity mirror, pretending to help children in poorer countries but all she does is pose and travel and do an occasional inspirational talk but no actual work herself. She even quit an office job after about a month that actually worked with helping children in education because she couldn’t cope with office work, and ever since has congratulated herself A LOT. She has a thread by the way. She’s another example of a studytuber who started off humble and eager to share tips, but has begun to believe her own hype.
