I still can't believe she said a mass grave was exquisite.
I dont know if she's simply not human or is too stupid to understand the meaning of words.

But exquisite is so aesthetic with the playful order and combination of the x and a in close succession to form a word that is both pleasant in the pronunciation pronounceiation and the appeal to the waves that circulate deep in the airways.

They’re a series of books about a bunch of toffs who attend an all girls boarding school, for the most part they’re pretty light hearted, the girls do things like have sleepovers, play practical jokes and tit, try to solve each other's problems etc, but once you’ve read one if them, you’ve basically read all of them ngl basically the same stuff happens in every book. They’re an interesting insight into how life was for middle/upper class Brits in the 1940s or whenever they’re set, but beyond that… they’re honestly pretty samey and theres also a lot of very outdated sexist/racist stereotypes in the books as well (given the time period they were written and the fact they were authored by Enid Blyton who is generally just a massive hater) so idk why Ruby likes them so much tbh.
Ruby is missing out on the books that Enid Blyton apparently wrote whilst on crack, where some kids (two of whom are called fan and fool) find a magic tree and make friends with a guy who has a giant head shaped like the moon.

She just said in her ”getting out of a reading slump” video that one of the books she wanted to read was Jacqueline Wilson’s rewrite of The Magic Faraway Tree because it was her favourite book as a child when she was ”younger” (bc as we all know, she still thinks of herself as a child), and J.W. ”is” (still?) her favourite author 🙃

The percentage is even higher for Durham, UCL and Imperial. What’s your point? These are also top universities, it’s not surprising the students might be more likely to achieve higher results on average
But surely the better the uni is, the harder it is to get a first? Oxbridge (and Durham, UCL, Imperial, etc.) are likely to have good students, true, but they also hold their students to a higher standard. It seems to me that the percentage of firsts should be roughly the same at universities across the board as the difficulty of the degree and the ability of the students balance each other out. Getting into a ‘better’ university doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll automatically be awarded a higher class of degree; it’s not about the prestige of the university or even the quality of teaching, but the work you do as a student. Everybody within the same subject receives the same teaching but not everyone gets the same result; by your logic everyone at Oxbridge, once they’d been accepted, would breeze through and receive a first just because it’s a top university. I’m not an expert but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work like that.

I say this as a current student at a non-Oxbridge Russell Group uni, so I do get why you’d be annoyed, but while obviously it’s nice to get into a top university it means nothing if you just expect to get a good mark on the basis of your uni’s ranking, which is based on the quality of research, teaching, etc. and not on the results of the students.

If a highly-regarded uni guaranteed a higher degree class, rankings would mean nothing and it would be just as easy to get into Oxbridge as anywhere else. It’s harder to get in because it’s harder to do well; the difficulty is relative to the ability of the students. Similarly, a lower-ranked uni is easier to get into and the workload is lighter, but the students‘ ability should match that level so the spread of results from third to first should be roughly the same as anywhere else.

To go back to the original point, I’m pretty sure it is easier to get a first than it used to be, and also to get into uni in the first place. Neither is a huge achievement any more. In 1994 7% of UK university students got a first, but 29% did in 2019. Obviously my generation isn’t more intelligent than previous generations - it must just be easier now. As it becomes more common it loses its value, so a first class degree, regardless of which university it’s from, isn’t going to be the thing on your CV which makes you stand out from other job applicants.

Sorry if I sound cynical and sorry for that absolute ramble 😅

To anyone who’s not from the UK/hasn’t seen them I recommend the Comic Strip’s Famous Five parodies: Five Go Mad in Dorset and Five Go Mad on Mescaline. They’re intentionally non-PC - you’ve been warned!

"Quiescent" means that, but master wordsmith Ruby misspelled it. "Quiscent" means nothing at all, which is the icing on the stupidity cake. She's literally picking flowery words and plonking them down into sentences to make herself seem smarter, but it only ever calls attention to her misstakes and misunderstanding of most words and their meanings and makes her look especially dumb.
Oh well yes, of course. I clearly misspelt the word too but my excuse is I had a migraine (which affects my vision & ability to write/type) :censored: :ROFLMAO:

She's replaced 'Literature Student' with 'Aspiring Writer' in her Instagram bio.
Ruby: "I have published a book! I have also written many, many books in my spare time! I AM A WRITER! THAT IS MY IDENTITY!"

Also Ruby: "I am just an aspiring writer now, because I've decided that you're not a writer unless Penguin Publishing tells you that you are and gives you a huge book deal and pays you J.K. Rowling money."

What a moron.

The issue comes when an increasing number of job applications are "university blind" (where they don't view the university when making decisions) or when pre-filtering simply removes everyone who didn't get a first, and this seems to be the main reason why people argue the better universities should have more firsts. Because at Oxbridge (and other top unis, but I'll just use Oxbridge for the ease of typing it out) the standard is higher - students have been taught more and in more depth than at other universities, and will have done a lot more work. If the class of degree is being used to compare students at different universities, shouldn't it reflect the ability of the students compared to the rest of the country, and not just those at their own university?

Of course, it's not a direct one-to-one comparison, but a 2.i from Oxbridge can involve as much, if not more work and knowledge than first at a mid-ranked university. By no means am I saying that people at Oxbridge are entitled to a first simply by virtue of being at Oxbridge, not at all. The standards are, and should be, very high. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it myself, as the minute you start trying to inflate grades at one university, you seem to devalue them at the same time, and arguments like this can very easily shaft the brilliant students who happened to not go to Oxbridge for any number of reasons. I definitely don't mean to imply at all that other students' work is not valuable and shouldn't be rewarded.

I think the main question is whether class should reflect your ranking within a particular university, allowing employers to make their own judgements about the value of a particular university compared to another; your ranking within the country, however that would be determined; or even perhaps just a comparison against predetermined boundaries, where you can get a first for passing a particular threshold, regardless of how many other people manage.

Very off-topic but have seen that Eve Bennett has a boyfriend now and seems to be thriving and do not see it (partly because she seems so much more "normal" and grown up than Ruby) but do you see Ruby putting herself out there or getting a relationship anytime soon?

For all we know, she may be asexual and occasionally I get those vibes, yet I do feel that a relationship or something to get her out of the family bubble would be hugely beneficial for her and her personal growth. She seems too childlike for it to manifest, though.

12 year olds don't have boyfriends!!!!!!!
Also the ED is probably killing all her hormones so I doubt it even more now.

Brace yourselves, the rest of her gap yahhh will be this. Unfortunate outfits/playing dressup, teas that taste malty/chocolatey/spiced (but not like paahh, even if you might think so), plugging her planner, daily Instagram stories where she lights a candle and shows us the driveway for the 6,000th time. You’ll think there’s a faint scent of something in the air, maybe you didn’t quite apply enough deodorant, and then you realise it’s the smell of Roobee’s desperation, wafting at you through the screen.

Don't forget all the writing themed videos like "Writing day vlog", "Write with me for 5 hours", "How to be a more productive writer", "How to boost your creativity as a writer"
Basically what she's already done millions of times for studying, but with writing, which makes it even more pretentious for some reason

Also where are the other 7+ outfits of the day that you AWHWLWAYS WAAAHR, Ruby?
NOOO. STOP. 😭

I thought she was getting better with the outfits after some of her Italy and Paris choices. Wtf is this?! Not one of these items matches the other. Also, why is she wearing a chunky cardigan when it's melt degrees celsius outside?

'Outfit of the day' - does this mean she's ventured outside dressed like a schoolgirl from the 1940s?
