There's really no shame in it. Personally I would rather be on a holiday alone than with mine but that's just me. We really don't get on

Okay this is OT but I knew daddy bones vaguely resembled someone

Is this why we were all lusting over him? Did have a bit of a fancy for Sirius Black in the younger years, not sure if anyone else did? If had a few drinks in me and he told me he was a wizard, I might find Daddy Bones a bit good looking. Now waiting for the Daddy Bones lusting again or have we all recovered from that dark time in our lives?

don't think there's anything wrong with going with your family, even if you're in your early 20s like Ruby is.

The issue here is though, it allows zero room for any personal development. She's constantly surrounded by the safety blanket of her parents and any problems would be able to be sorted by them, she'll do everything with them and the opportunities for independence or exploration are virtually non-existent.

I can't emphasise enough how much Ruby would benefit from solo travelling though. I've done so much of it now and even the small things such as booking things, navigating airports/flights, talking to randoms in hostels and finding things to do are things you gain so much from. Not saying she has to jet off to Malaysia, but even a small break to somewhere in Spain would do wonders.

Do I expect her to do it? Sadly not and she'll continue to live in the family protected bubble. I don't see her undergoing any personal growth this year; if anything, I expect her to revert backwards.

Totally agree. If someone like Eve Bennett went on holiday with her family I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid because she's lived on her own properly for years and travelled alone and with friends. Ruby's issue is she's incapable of doing anything without her parents holding her hand.

Did she ever say what kind of book she's writing? Is it for kids or teens or grandmas or what?
It's a Mystery.

The mystery being, who is the target audience for this book? Mature Toddlers? Immature Grandmas? Precocious Kindergarteners? OAP Influencers? Prematurely balding teens?

It's a competitive market

What work? Stealing other people’s ideas?
She's hard at work promoting toxic productivity - 'look at me, I'm better than you cause I am working even while on holiday! So productive! I'm always working! THAT IS MY IDENTITY'

Oh but you forget that Ruby is enjoying every second of working so varry much because there is nothing she loves more than Stoddying and Working and Learning New Things during every waking moment. She's quite academic, you know. /s

Ruby on the StudyGram Chat server earlier - she didn't even plan on setting up the server!

Yeah, both PageY and Eve have been on holidays with their parents and I found it quite nice and sweet. But they are both very confindent and independent women who have lived on their own or with friends and are used to navigating the world on their own.

Reading these posts makes me feel as though English isn't my first language. It took ages to work out that 'at-sea' was Etsy. 😅

Since people were discussing Call Me By Your Name, I thought I'd use the opportunity sneak in a book recommendation: Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski. It's set in 1980s Poland and tells the story of a gay relationship between two university students. Includes a lot of politics too. The writing's very good (lyrical but not prosaic and never quiscent), and it's short so Ruby can easily add it to her next readathon - but I'll warn people that it's quite sad and not suitable for comfort reading, at least in my opinion.

I mean, Ruby speaks as though English isn't her first language, so that's pretty appropriate!

Oh it's definitely accurate. I doubt anyone here can read 'proj-ACkT' without hearing it in Ruby's voice, so merci beaucoup* for inflicting that experience on us.

✨*So French!✨ It's actually one of the few phrases I remember from school. I can ask 'where is the swimming pool in La Rochelle?' thanks to my Year 7 French textbook, but beyond that I'm lost. THIS IS NOT MY IDENTITY.

When even Mother Granger thinks you look stupid, it’s time to rethink your ✨💫ENN SAMBLAY✨💫

edit: WUT. Methinks someone has snuck some ethanol into Roobee’s afternoon mocktail.

It's funnier because it says it's her outfit from last night i.e. this is her idea of eveningwear and her inspiration for it seems to be "private primary school girl being taken out for dinner by her parents without time to go home and change first". Like people should dress however they want but Ruby seems to be cosplaying children and it's weird.
