Lol at 'filthomena' 😅 Got to say though, I'm not totally comfortable with these posts on discord. It feels more bullying when it's in a place she set up and still visits. Yes I know we say pretty much the same things here, but it's different when the comments are in 'her' spaces. I'm not phrasing this very well but hopefully people know what I mean.

Don't. She's not sick or disabled or crippled in bed or something. She has everything available to her, every opportunities.

It's her own decision to live this way.
So there's no point in feeling sorry.

Her sister has the same life than her and she chose to live differently.

So yeah it's all up to Ruby to decide how she wants to live.

I think if she continues living like this for years, she will regret it eventually.
But it's fine, it's her choice, so it doesn't matter.

I think Ruby's comment sums up her approach to basically everything and this outlook is a big part of her problems. She seems to think that if she acts as though she likes reading, writing, academia, specific fashions, travelling, being vegan, etc., for long enough, that one day actual joy should come from those for her.
She seems to be going about growing a personality all backwards. Instead of naturally discovering one likes something, developing and broadening that interest, and eventually it becoming part of your personality, Ruby seems to have imagined a personality she wants to have and is trying to force herself into it. Except she doesn't actually force herself to do things like read more or become a better writer, probably because it is just not a natural way of being. (Plus being malnourished cannot be aiding her willpower.)
I think if Ruby truly enjoyed writing, her writing would be significantly better, even if she was not producing masterpieces. Loads of people have hobbies and interests that they are not naturally gifted in, and still manage to improve them with the practice that comes naturally when often doing something you love.
I think she needs to take a step back and really consider what she enjoys doing, and then do it without the pressure of videoing it or immediately making it a core personality trait. For example, enjoying writing does not need to equal being a "writer". I do not have high hopes for this to happen though.

Once again, her privilege is showing. ”Just act as though you will be happy.” It’s easy for Rootabaga to say this, with her rich dad, her mansion home, never having to work for anything, endless leisure (and a camera!) to devote to her yt ”career”. The rest of us can pretend all we want, but realities are going to interfere at some point.

I mean...percentages are awarded for different reasons and aren't comparable. Someone getting 100% on a maths test is a different calibre to someone getting 100% on an English essay, so you wouldn't compare them directly there without context. Just because 90% is achievable in your country doesn't mean that getting 80% in the UK isn't an incredibly impressive feat. There are plenty of problems with the UK's education system, but this is comparing apples to oranges and judging them because they're not identical.

The issue here is though, it allows zero room for any personal development. She's constantly surrounded by the safety blanket of her parents and any problems would be able to be sorted by them, she'll do everything with them and the opportunities for independence or exploration are virtually non-existent.

I can't emphasise enough how much Ruby would benefit from solo travelling though. I've done so much of it now and even the small things such as booking things, navigating airports/flights, talking to randoms in hostels and finding things to do are things you gain so much from. Not saying she has to jet off to Malaysia, but even a small break to somewhere in Spain would do wonders.

Do I expect her to do it? Sadly not and she'll continue to live in the family protected bubble. I don't see her undergoing any personal growth this year; if anything, I expect her to revert backwards.

Totally agree. If someone like Eve Bennett went on holiday with her family I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid because she's lived on her own properly for years and travelled alone and with friends. Ruby's issue is she's incapable of doing anything without her parents holding her hand.

Well I'm sure that now that she's got these stellar grades she's ready to leave the nest to put what she learned to fruition, find an exciting career, expand her horizons, and enjoy intellectually stimulating exchanges with her peers ;)

Ruby's old school need to stop enabling her lecturer fantasy. I'm so embarrassed for her that she ASKED to go in. At my school ex-pupils did come in but they were invited by the school and it was usually university/careers talks, not a fucking lecture. Who does she think she is? This is why the humility act is so weak, she's constantly seeking praise like a child and taking time out of students' actual learning to act superior. I'm betting this is one of her discarded dissertation ideas that she needs validation for.

This may be slightly controversial to say, but I'm starting to think Ruby really does have a serious untreated mental illness but hides behind the persona she's carefully crafted for herself for her youtube.

We've seen this in her unhinged rant about being a writer- she's desperate for an identity and now that she's lost her student one she's flailing and just regressing more and more. I know there's a serious problem with cotton-wool kids in society, and clearly Ruby was told throughout childhood how special she was and it turned into narcissism as she grew up, but for her to still be that codependent on her parents really isn't normal in her early 20s. At 17 she couldn't be alone in her house, even as a university student she had a panic attack and locked herself in the bathroom once when she was alone. Her anxiety as a teen was so bad even mother granger pushed her into seeing a therapist - which she should still be seeing.

She went home constantly throughout university and it got so much worse in 2020. That was when her appearance really started to change and it's obvious she got a lot more depressed the closer she got to completing her degree. I'm sure she wants nothing more than to be in primary school again. She now no real plans for her life and no real direction, just to stay at home with her parents indefinitely and BE A WRITER and pretend that liking coffee suddenly makes her an adult. No one is telling her she should still be going to therapy, no one is encouraging her to seek help or even seem to be expressing much concern.

No it doesn't excuse the stealing from charities, but I think Ruby really does have delusions of grandeur, that she believes in her own mind she can do no wrong and that anyone who thinks otherwise is a bully. She's so far in denial about everything. She really wants to be 12 again.
