I really need her to use this year off to go do therapy. I know we're not entitled to knowing that kind of private information, but she obviously has some undiagnosed and untreated mental issues. She said she did therapy when she was younger but it seems like she just gave up and that was that?
If she came clean about faking her image and shared her struggles with people openly and honestly, it would have a much greater impact than any productivity video she ever did.
If i remember correctly she used to claim she had something called 'clinical perfectionism' when she was a teenager. She also had an exemption from handwriting exams due to a medical problem, she claimed in a livestream once back then that she took an exam and the paper was covered in blood and coudnt be corrected because the way she writes and holds a pencil makes her hand bleed. So she definitely has some disorder.. Maybe OCD?

Around that time she went to a therapist (while she was in A levels I think) because she was afraid to be in the house alone and afraid of growing up. I guess her parents decided to send her to therapy because they knew she would have to move out for uni. Other than that I think she mentioned going to therapy a year or two ago for a 12 week stint or something? I wouldnt be surprised if shes still in therapy now but just keeping it private.

This is NOT a brag (Don't do it) but I wrote mine in 2 weeks. the fact she took a year is insane. Did she have an extension too? Because they were due ages ago
Yeah I know people who wrote theirs in like a month and got firsts 💀 if Ruby doesn’t get a first after spending an entire YEAR working on it then I will actually feel bad for her coz what the actual duck lmao

I really doubt she's in therapy now, she's spiraling. I'm pretty sure a decent therapist would've suggested inpatient by now. Also, she handwrites everything so how does that make sense?

Are you in America? I'm only asking because inpatient treatment is much rarer in the UK. It's possible to be having a severe episode of mental illness and still be refused inpatient treatment.

how does one hold a pencil and make their hand bleed?? The only way I can think of is intentionally stabbing your self with the tip… 😂

I doubt she took a full year to do her dissertation, she started researching topics last summer and spent the last month hastily writing thousands more than she really needed to. It's a hot mess regardless of what she ended up turning in.

She also tried therapy, clearly she was so much smarter than her private therapist that it wasn't worth having mummy pay for.

Nope, I'm in South America. Mental health isn't a priority here.

But I'm assuming since if she's going to therapy she's going private, she could have the means for that. I don't think she's in therapy right now though. Because Roomba knows best and obviously chewing tea is enough to survive.

Haven’t watched the new vid yet but maybe she wouldn’t have to get caught up in ”hustle culture” and the likes if she had decent time management skills, I understand if she had jobs on the side or something but I don’t need to hear abt something that’s quite preventable for the situation/position she’s in as a student if u get what I mean, I probably haven’t articulated it the best tho

I imagine the intensity of handwriting under pressure in an exam is different to casually taking notes. They wouldnt have given her an exemption without a valid medical reason and doctors certification, exemptions arent easy to get and you have to have a genuine disability or condition.
AQA outlines that students must have one of the following to qualify for using a word processor in GCSEs or A levels:
- a learning difficulty which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on their ability to write legibly
- a medical condition
- a physical disability
- a sensory impairment
- illegible handwriting
So unless she got the exemption for illegible handwriting (which i doubt, her handwriting isnt terrible) she must have been diagnosed with something at the time.

On a separate note, I went to Exeter and I was in first year when Roobee was in first year studying philosophy. I never actually spoke to her but I knew someone who was an acquaintance of hers. They told me that they went to a premiere showing of some movie (can't remember what) which was showing at midnight and Rubiks Cube confessed that it was her first time staying up that late, ever. 😩

Ah right. Speaking from personal experience, mental health doesn't seem to be a priority here either. 😅 'Raising awareness' is certainly a big thing, but investing in actual services...not so much.

You're right about Ruby's private therapy, though. She could definitely afford to pay for better/more intensive help. I don't know anything about the quality of mental health services at Exeter, but all universities need to provide some form of MH support to students, whether it's counselling sessions or referral to somewhere else. Obviously Roomba (that's a great nickname lol) is graduating so probably won't be able to take advantage of student MH services. I wonder why she stopped going to therapy. Maybe she didn't feel it was helping? Don't remember if she's ever talked about it.

I hate to say it but most UK universities have duck all in terms of MH support. I have a sibling at Exeter and their support is almost non-existent, I went to Birmingham and they got rid of their full time paid counsellors yet paid our VC one of the highest salaries in the country, for him doing nothing but sitting around being homophobic.

Everyone should go to therapy, and if you have the means to get it privately and don't use it, you're an idiot.

I also wouldn't be surprised if it was her first time watching a full movie that wasn't Harry Potter or Matilda.

She mentioned taking the train to go to a therapy session maybe a few years ago, but that was it.

I can't recall which video it was, but when vlogging leaving one of her therapy sessions she cheerfully announced that she'd completed her X number of weeks.

It's impossible to know for sure without more information, but given everything we know about Ruby, it gave the distinct impression to me that she just viewed therapy as another task to tick off (or part of the influencer starter pack that she only did because other influencers her age were openly talking about therapy so she had to do it, too).

After her last session, she rewarded herself by marking it complete and called it a day. She clearly still needed professional help, so it was bizarre to just stop going, and I can't see any therapist making any progress with her in such a short time.

It's entirely possible she's started going back and hasn't talked about it, but I doubt it since she's been on a downward spiral for the past year and a half. I can't imagine her being honest with a therapist, self-aware enough to acknowledge and admit her problems, or humble enough to want to accept that there's something wrong with her and that someone else can help. She's a narcissist and a compulsive liar, I can't see her opening up and being honest to a therapist, and a therapist can't do much if she won't.

I'm bored and up early so clicked on a random roobee vid

(for anyone curious) she's always had a fixation, for lack of a better word, on ED's she mentions she did extra school work on how ED's are portrayed in the bible which is...niche to say the least. Truly think the warning signs were there years before it became physically noticeable because I did the exact same thing, I watched a documentary on anorexia and became obsessed with it- I have OCD so I get locked onto things and hyper fixate and for whatever reason mine was ED's and books, documentaries, films etc focusing on them but this was a good 3 years but I developed one myself and it seems to be the exact same with Ruby, a lot of the books she's read you wouldn't know about unless you googled "books about anorexia".
Not 100% sure what my point is, just an observation

Maybe she held it so tight her nails ended up stabbing her palm?
Either way I guess she's sorted that out now, considering she brags about writing everything by hand

I’m not sure if it’s different where she is, but in my experiences of therapy (both private and state funded) you’re generally only given 10 sessions unless there’s a pretty good reason to extend. So was Ruby’s session time likely extended?
