In her vlogs she shows herself cleaning her laptop by shutting the lid and disinfecting the top (not really disinfecting because she wipes it off before it has time to work), but she doesn't clean the actual screen or the keyboard, ever.

With her dissertation, why is she trying to find the structure of it now to see if it makes sense? If she is doing it then she is floundering around so much especially if it's days before it's due. And it is just time wasting activities that she is doing such as writing it down when she could typing etc. I wish that I had enough time to do boing stuff like this when I had deadlines, I've got one on Tuseday and I'm working and doing a job. The days before this dissertation is due , it should be minor editing and making sure everything is referenced correctly. I can understand more floundering if it was a class essay as there is usually other assignments and less time to work on it, but she had a year for this!

I feel for her a bit with this. As an undergraduate, I fell into the trap of chosing a really complex topic and then had to do twice the work to fit it into an undergrad BA thesis and construct a logical argument. I still got a first but I wouldn't recommend that at all.

She’s making an awful lot of “edits” considering it’s her 7th draft and at this stage you would think it would be very minor changes or just checking references etc (which would be a huge task for Ruby given 90% of her essay will be from other sources!). The red shawl is all for effect. She wears a thin jumper/sweater - she could wear layers like most people, but that wouldn’t fit with the frail Victorian persona she is so desperate to be (note to Ruby: people wore many layers in the Victorian era!). And in all the sped up footage, she looked like she was chewing all the time. What a waste of 4mins that was (stopped when she got on her tea crap). What is she going to do post degree on YT?

You can tell that her dissertation hasn't gone to plan because she hasn't done a Dissertation Diaries in ages and she hasn't fully shared her topic because she doesn't actually know herself what it is.

She should really be using referencing software! Most university libraries offer info sessions on how to use this software. You can either get a free subscription through your university, or you can download free ones, such as Zotero. She'd be able to make her bibliography in one click.

Really need to get to using this as I tend to be a bit chaotic do my references manually and did a whole undergrad dissertation with about 200 footnotes manually . I feel ruby does her footnotes manually for some reason no idea why Wonder how ruby is doing today, perhaps she's gone a bit wild and chugged a red bull to help her through the twentieth draft of the dissertation.

The annoying thing about all this is, knowing Ruby, she'll probably get a good grade. But honestly if after 7+ drafts you aren't getting a first, I'd be concerned. At some point you've got to weigh up your mental state vs your work, sometimes the potential for a few extra marks just aren't worth the stress.

I wonder what she'll do if her final mark is significantly lower than what she might have expected. Given the apparent state of her dissertation a few days before the deadline, I can't help but wonder how she would react to a really disappointing result. Would there be a teary-eyed confession video or maybe something like "why university might not be the right choice for you"? Or would she actively try to dispute it with her supervisors? I'm not familiar with UK undergrad study so I'm wildly speculative here! Afaik she'd need to finish with a 2:1 at the very least to be considered for an Oxbridge MSt or MLitt programme

Imagine if she ever releases her diss or does a video reading it out loud. Has she ever given us a glimpse of her academic writing? Because her non-academic is shit. How is she able to pull off firsts? She literally has no solid grasp on the language.

Simple answer: She's an indescribable moron and she's screwed herself royally by never learning to write an essay by herself or think critically and independently.

She devised a dodgy essay-writing system based on skipping reading the main text and reverse-engineering an essay stitched together from a wealth of stolen and heavily-rewritten ideas cribbed from critical essays, Blakeney, seminar groups and lecturers.

But like most things she's taken endless shortcuts with and never improved at, she's robbed herself of the learning experience and never grew to think independently or critically. Her dodgy essay factory setup might work for an essay where she's given a clear, pre-defined question and where everyone around her is studying the same texts. But, predictably, she has no clue what to do when given a blank slate and nobody to steal from, and can't even form a basic, clear critical argument to start from.

She's her own worst enemy, and I think with her dissertation, all her worst instincts are colliding in a perfect storm of stupidity.

She was instantly out of her depth, but her delusions of grandeur and innate stupidity had her aiming to write a PhD-level essay at undergrad level rather than focusing on a safe, sensible, realistic goal suited to her limited ability.

She put aesthetics first, chasing Dark Academia fantasies of trawling dusty archives, finding undiscovered manuscripts and becoming an academic sensation, resulting in over a year of wasted time and pointless research.

She craves the praise of teachers and lecturers, but refuses to listen to instruction. She thinks she's always right and believes she can impress by ignoring academic guidance, colour outside the lines and push the boundaries of what work is expected. This has screwed her over before, and it's probably why she's being asked to do massive revisions after every supervisor meeting and there's still no improvement.

She tried applying her usual shortcuts to her dissertation, shoehorning in things she already had (questionable) knowledge and (superficial) interest in to save time, so shoehorned Victorian nonsense, letter-writing etiquette, gift culture and a whole cavalcade of bafflingly unrelated crap in. Without a clear argument or structure, that's all just incoherent, disconnected drivel that she's now struggling to make sense of.

She never came up with a clear essay topic, and put so much time into cramming in meandering, irrelevant nonsense that her dissertation contains practically nothing else, and there's no way to fix that without starting from scratch. At this point, she's way too late to salvage it. She's rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

Ruby, if you're reading this: I would like to submit an appeal for the release of your Carroll dissertation as an audiobook under "highly requested" as I'm sure it will be an unexpected breakthrough for academic publishing, please and thank you (or, if you decide to go the conventional publishing route, I would kindly request the foreword be penned by @gossip_guy)

Considering she doesn't have the stress and pressures of the average student (I.e. Going to work to afford rent because student finance doesn't cover all, travelling to see your family over holidays etc. because she lives with them, even having time to go out with friends because she literally has none and doesn't socialise with others at all) she is doing a shit job of this diss.

If I was her while I was doing my dissertation I'd have it done wayyy quicker. She's such an ignorant idiot. Unaware of how lucky and privelaged she is. Just the fact that she's making money through YouTube, not even considering that she was born in a gold cap because her parents are rich.

On day five are we going to get a video titled “another, another, another, another productive study day”

Ruby seems to be unaware of the fact that you should first learn the rules if you want to break them. She's flailing trying to present something so out of her depth when she hasn't even mastered the kind of work that *is* within her capabilities. I don't know who told this child that she's a genius all her life but they did her dirty, but this is on Ruby for still feeding off that wading pool of school age flattery.

Would she lie about getting a first on her dissertation? Has she been lying about her essay grades?

Her diss is due this coming Thursday and the work for her module the day before.

Too late now, but I think this would've been a much better topic for her than Carroll's letters.

I try not to wish failure on anyone but I really hope she gets a third and realises she's not special
