Ruby looks so frail in that picture. The jacket is way too big for her - I get the impression she likes wearing stuff like that because it makes her look smaller?

I'd say she looks like a kid borrowing her mum's clothes, but she has said she does share a lot of clothes with her mum, which probably explains why she looks like a middle-aged Tory councillor any time she tries to dress in something approaching formalwear.
She can duck right off with that triggering BS. Sorry but I have zero tolerance for Ruby's ED baiting.

I could be wrong but was Ruby buttering her crumpet? Unless it was vegan butter. I know that many vegans don't have ED but for Ruby veganism is simply a way to restrict even more so I'd be so happy if she was reintroducing some animal foods into her diet, she needs it badly...

Ruby has zero confidence in herself as a writer AND she puts a ridiculous amount of pressure on herself, only a high first is good enough for her. All of that and a malnourished brain in a starving body = not a good look!
I think she's OVERconfident. If I put out into the world the steaming pile of trash that is Erimentally Parlor I would die of embarrassment.

Tbh when I was extremely self-conscious and my eating wasn’t great, I only wore things that were far too big for me. Not to make myself seem smaller, but to hide every part of my body

I just came around to watch Ruby's latest videos (and I wish I hadn't), so I am a little late to the party but there is this one thing that bothers me to the absolute maximum and it is her refusal to learn to pronounce the name Ludovico Einaudi (it's at 3:03 in the video), despite featuring this poor man's dreamy music in almost all of her playlists. I am not Italian, nor do I speak Italian, but even I have a pretty good idea on how it is pronounced, but just to be sure I invested 20 seconds to google it to find this:

she pretends to LAHVE studying and learning things, so why not to do the absolute bare minimum to learn how to pronounce the name of people you talk about. It is called decency ffs.
Her absolute oblivion when it comes to any words/names/pronunciations that are not english is so very cringey and anglocentric and speaks a lot about her horizon (social, literary and otherwise).
And I am not saying that you need to be able to pronounce every name or word in every language from scratch, but if you mention a person in your video and feature their art, then do your research instead of butchering their name. This annoys me so much because it is not the first time he has done it with Einaudi, she refused to say his name in a different video before :cautious:

This! The obstinate refusal to do the bare minimum. (Then again, that's our Roobee in a nutshell.) I don't know why she thinks it's acceptable to not even try to find out how the name is pronounced, and it definitely speaks to an almost imperialist mindset. Similar to the handful of times she's referenced a book not originally written in English - she'll say the name of the translator rather than the name of the author, because obviously foreigners don't matter. If anything, they should be grateful that someone has bothered to translate their feeble efforts into English.

(I'm not at all familiar with Einaudi's music, and sadly, thanks to Ruby, it's entirely possible I never will be. She's got the reverse Midas touch.)

She can't even pronounce or spell most English words correctly, sadly... I can't believe she ever took Spanish as a subject in school. Her accent must have been atrocious.

Yes, I remember her doing it to authors as well. She really is unaware that there is a world outside the english-speaking one it seems.

Off topic: Einaudi (lol)
I think he became really famous for doing the soundtrack to 'The Intouchables' which is an amazing french movie and the OST fits it so beautifully. It's also the movie Omar Sy became internationally renowned with, I would highly recommend it. (And it has absolutely nothing to do with productivity or studying or twirling in fields)

Noo I love Einaudi. Before Covid I went to his concert in Milan and it was magical

Btw this is the same person who made a Holocaust Notion page for clout, featured a Holocaust victim's story in it, and misspelled his name several different times

Italian and Spanish are very similar, and in particular c's are pronounced the same, so the fact that she immediately went with a soft c when that is clearly a hard c, and would be a hard c in Spanish as well (because it's followed by an o) tells you everything you need to know about her Spanish I think

I can’t get over that she went with her dad, when every other ‘studytuber’ there came solo - not just that, but people she knows! Even if her dad was in London, from the looks of her stories so was her mum? So why didn’t her parents do something for the day and let Ruby be an independent adult for once!
Unless, of course, the Downton execs invited daddy Bones as an “influencer” in his own right… 😂

Does that mean her parents chaperoned her to the Netflix premiere too?

Can you imagine thinking you invited an influencer to your event and ending up with a 12-year-old girl dressed like Marie Curie and accompanied by her parents

I don’t want to be *that* person, but on Jade’s story it said they all invited their parents and Jack had a picture of him and his mum there. But the sentiment still stands for all 3 of them! And the question of why she only invited her dad!

Maybe Mother Granger had errands to run in Woking again.

I stand corrected! But now my confusion extends to the organisers… they do realise that, just because they’re “studytubers”, doesn’t mean they’re still school age?!

None of the events they attend make sense on any level, and it never seems like anyone involved gave any consideration to who the influencers were, if their content/brand suits the product or if their audiences match whatever's being promoted.

I'm guessing it's a numbers game for the PR people. They see a follower count and can go back to the client to say "I got 600,000-1 million eyes on this from each influencer!" when that's not the case and certainly won't translate to people actually checking out the thing being advertised.

Sixteenth don't give a tit what's suitable for their talents' brands, they just want money and more ad deals. And from Ruby, Jack and Jade's perspective, they do not give a tit about brand identity or integrity, and if there's money or a chance to mingle with celebs on offer, they will advertise literally anything without question.

Like, the Downton thing, I guess I could understand if they were hosting a trailer, or attending a screening. It's still not a great fit for any of their brands, aside from possibly maybe kind-of Ruby, who assumes it's a Victorian TV show because she thinks all of history pre-1930 was the Victorian era, but it's a broad enough advertisement that they might get some engagement out of it.

But the event was focused entirely on the costume designer of the show. Like, why the duck would these three be a suitable fit for that? They aren't history buffs. They aren't fashion vloggers. Fashion victims, maybe.

I’m guessing they all got a plus-one and brought their parents because they’re more likely to be interested in the film. To be fair, of the three of them Ruby is the one with the most interest in ‘history’ but I can think of loads more people who would be more suitable. If it was a costume thing then Bernadette Banner’s the obvious one, she’s London-based and far more of an expert on historical costume than Ruby, Jack or Jade. The recent Netflix thing Ruby somehow got invited to just screams that Sixteenth have managed to bag a contract with some fairly legit PR agency and are just throwing their ‘talent’ at anything to see if any of them stick.
