Also it seems that she’s very sad about Martha going to uni but not as much Ruby because she sees her more often. Do we think Mother Granger could be encouraging Ruby to stay at home and act all childlike??

She absolutely won't shut up about how much she hates being a housewife.
Cry me a river, Clare, there are plenty of women who'd be glad to swap places with you. I'd like to see her try and work a full time job and then come home and still have to do the housework, like 99% of families, who can't afford to hire a maid and need two paychecks to survive. Does she think other people's houses are self-cleaning? Doing house chores comes with being an adult, it's generally not super fun but there's no point whining about it like a 5 year old. And the best part is she complains yet doesn't even do it judging from the state of her house.
I am extremely respectful of the hard work that comes with being a stay at home parent. It's a job like any other that deserves respect.
However she doesn't do any of the hard work and still complains about it. The entitlement here is staggering.

I agree with you, Iaariaa, though, that she should try engaging a cleaner, that would solve a lot. A lot of people are living way less comfortable lives.

It's been around for a good 10 years, and she also performed "Speaking Up" back in 2017 (?), so I think it's pretty legit. Amber has also cried about people tearing her writing to shreds (because, as we all know, constructive criticism=bullying) and calling her out on not proofreading her work, which couldn't be the case if this wasn't her account. Also, people have posted their readings and reviews on YouTube, and Amberlynn left a comment under one of such videos: .

Now, I wonder, what did mother Granger prefer when she put these poems on Amazon: having anonymous strangers read her work, or her friends and hope for favourable reviews (as apparently two friends have bought the bundle)? The combination of information on her family, marriage, health, mental state etc. is more private than most people discuss with their close friends?
I also wonder about the reaction of her husband and daughters. These are the kind of passages that Ruby would skip in a book, and that Martha would cringe over.

I edit a literary journal, and that poetry is like some of the utter rot that sometimes falls into my submissions inbox. Absolutely dreadful!

Yeah, this. Like, lack of house-keeping skills and lack of basic understanding of the English language aside, it's clear that Ruby's mom and also her shaggy tax-dodging hipster dad really love her and care about her very much and I do think they're trying to help her as best as they can.

I mean, compare and contrast this with the bleeping depressing Holly Gabrielle situation where her parents never got her help for her ED and use every opportunity to criticise/belittle her... Like compared to that, Ruby has it so good! And she'd get all the support in the world if she decided to tackle her obvious issues (*cough*disordered eating *cough*) head-on! And for me, that makes it even more frustrating to watch Ruby keep spiralling.

Those poems aren't groundbreaking by any means but I can't knock self-expression, really. Plus I think the poem about Martha's missing toothbrush is sweet and how she's letting her live her life despite missing her. I do think they're very attentive parents, maybe too much, when the kids are around but this definitely suggests to me that Ruby is the one instigating all the trips home rather than her parents begging for her back.

Yeah, they are enabling her terrible habits and it isn't good. Mother Granger evidently loves the fact that Ruby is refusing to grow up.
