I think she wants to go into acting and play period drama’s which is why she does so many of those spoken monologues. It would also suit why she is obsessed with “olden times”

Me for one, if it stops you being independent and makes you forget your privilege.

I know that some people are nostalgic for their childhood, but personally, I hated it! I think back in horror at how controlled and curtailed my life was compared to now. I love being responsible for myself, being able to make my own decisions and control my environment. I am actually much less stressed as an adult even though I have to pay my own bills!

To me the weird obsession she has with the word count is another way for her to brag?

As another poster said, never written a book, don't know the process but she definitely seems to be aiming for quantity over anything else. I'd dread to think what the editing process will be like on 10,000 words written in a single day? Her writing will definitely be sloppy towards the end, which will just create more work for her further down the line

Online IQ tests are nothing like the real thing (and I have done both). Memorisation doesn't come into it at all, and therefore isn't an advantage. The standardised IQ tests you take in person have all questions that you can't 'learn' the answers to, so it's challenging for a reason.

The online ones definitely inflate the scores to make the test taker feel better about themselves. I think I saw someone test a range of online IQ quizzes on YouTube, and for half of them it was impossible to get a score below 100 - even after marking all the answers incorrect on purpose!

In her latest video she mentioned she doesn't have Microsoft Word, which I thought was pretty strange. You can do most of the same stuff on Google Docs, but I've found there are always a few features here and there are only on Word. Given how many papers she writes, Word would be a great investment.

How can she not have Microsoft word!! Most unis have an office 365 subscription so you don’t even have to pay for it. I’m definitely Microsoft word over google docs

Bruising easily and having dark under eyes and eye bags are a sure sign she's malnourished, dehydrated and lacking sleep. She is showing physical signs of burn out and stress and still doesn't slow down her obsessive studying. I truly don't believe she enjoys studying- I think she just does it to show off or to keep up her character. She always makes it seem like studying is a chore and she sighs, huffs and puffs when she says she has so much to do or when she has to go straight onto another task after finishing one, yet claims studying is her favourite thing to do. I think she's realised that university work isn't as fun as the extra-curricular studying she did at school when she could pick any topic and do a little study project on it. Maybe that's why she changed from RS- because she couldn't commit to one topic?

It's strange seeing her post all these photos. These are photos she carefully picks and is happy to have on the internet, even though they make her seem 10 years younger than she is. In all the photos she seems to be the youngest in every group, and I had to double check the date she posted with each one because in 2017 she looked and dressed like a 12 year old. There is something seriously off with her maturity- she doesn't even seem to grasp what is socially acceptable for someone her age. Not in the way that a 20 (?) year old must wear makeup and must drive, but just the language she uses and the content she posts- it's like she's oblivious. Her posts now are akin to people's Facebook posts when they're 13 that in 5 years they'll regret and frantically delete.

Does any one know why she was bullied? I watched her older videos and she can come across as quite obnoxious! She also seems quite defensive about her interests. I honestly think I’d be a little irritated by a person like this in my class. I read her book and the character seems so terrible, but it’s based off her! What did the bullies actually say or do?

Lol I've been thinking the exact same thing! I think bullying is always unacceptable however much you dislike someone, but I think if I had to go to school with her it would drive me utterly insane. I get the sense she looks down on people who think differently to her or have different priorities to her. Like I said in a previous post, I never took school seriously and utterly hated it, my studies and my teachers. I feel like I'd get immediately judged by her for not being clever or some shit, when actually it was just that school didn't suit me as a person, and I do great at uni. For all she talks about not making assumptions, and accepting different attitudes towards life, I think that she can come across as quite snobbish and stuck up - I would imagine that an attitude like that would attract bullies. My guess is that she wasn't 'cool' - people who love studying and suck up to teachers in school do tend to be targets for bullies unfortunately, and given she doesn't seem especially resilient as a person, she probably gave the bullies exactly the response they wanted, getting super defensive and upset, instead of just ignoring them and moving on.

there are a lot of comments saying ''I wish I was as productive as ruby'' she is so productive'' etc. under her new morning routine video. When I watched the video I don't see anything ''extremely productive'' she wakes up and brushes her hair, read books and take a walk in her huge garden and do her university study. Didn't we all do similar things in the morning? (Expect the garden part I am living in a small apartment so I cant relate to that)

I think a lot of these studytubers are booksmart but not necessarily naturally intelligent and it really shines through in the way they study. Most people, whether they can be considered a genius or not, don’t need to study for hours on end. Ruby unnecessarily drags her work out and goes far beyond what he actually needs to be doing to get good marks. It’s 100% about the aesthetic for her, she just likes making busywork for herself with a lit candle flickering in front of her. Little of what she does can be considered very productive. You would think leaving school and being in her third year of university, she would have picked up better habits but she hasn’t. I think she knows the study with mes are what got her popular so she hasn’t bothered to change anything.

The excessive list making also seems to feed her obsessiveness and isn’t very healthy. Her audience is young and impressionable and I still worry they watch her and think they’re not very productive because they don’t schedule every minute of their day and study for hours and hours.

She needs to realise no one cares about your grades once you leave education, especially not after working a few years. She seems to still have the secondary school 'GCSE'S ARE SO IMPORTANT!!!' kinda outlook that teachers try and fool you with to make you work harder. Really, no one looks at them twice. No one asks about them when you're in a job interview at 30.

I don't know if I'm cold hearted, but I had to laugh when she made that crying face. Just because she couldn't find a book? I know she has anxiety problems, but this was such an exaggeration.

this honestly makes me think she’s kind of emotionally unstable. I’m not trying to be mean or rude, and I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but to start crying over something so trivial makes me feel like she’s always on edge and the littlest thing can set her off and cause a breakdown.

I wonder if Ruby reads these threads? I understand that all women need different amounts of food but you still need enough to stay healthy for what your body needs.

And at the same time, she constantly posts pictures of her own very small portions. She’s contributing to the problem by normalizing tiny portions. Not to mention all the green tea/detox teas and the cold water and frozen fruit first thing in the morning. (I recently watched her video on productivity apps, one of which was a habit tracker. One of the numerous habits she was tracking was ”frozen fruit in the morning”.) It’s like she’s using her anorexia books as a guide.

Ruby doesn't take criticism very well. My school sent a fair few to Oxbridge and I remember after one girl was rejected being told "it's not just about being clever, it's about being teachable" which I think a lot of high achieving kids who haven't faced adversity really struggle with. If your identity is wrapped up in being The Top Student, how will you fare going to a uni where that was probably the case for everyone, and you are unlikely to stand out as you used to?
