Yeah, by all accounts the Paperlike instantly gets covered in scratches and wears down the nib of the Apple Pencil really quickly compared to standard screen protectors.

Classic Ruby. Nothing says sustainability like having to buy a new £120 piece of technology because you did no research before spending £35 on a gimmicky screen protector you don't need.

The state of them. If your going to make a video which for the majority of it your hands are shown, would it not occur to you to paint them properly instead of half doing it like everything.

Sometimes it’s a good learning technique. When I was studying if I typed whilst I’d get loads done, due to my learning difficulty i wouldn’t remember very much or at all. So it could be a muscle memory, there’s a great study on why blue biro is the best to revise with due to the way the brain processes it

That trunk 😂😂I watched the video this morning and nearly died when she opened it. Can’t believe she thought it was ok to buy and then actually show on YouTube in that condition 🤢she has zero standards. Absolute clarty witch.

I went back and rewatched that bit, my brain must have corrected the grammar automatically. How can someone who reads so much not know its could have.

I haven't studied English in Uni, but even conversationally I wouldn't make that mistake.

She also goes out of her way to use endless amounts of paper just for blotting ink, typing random bull on a typewriter, and for her numerous redundant planners when she has multiple digital options for writing, planning and note taking available and uses them all for the same purpose anyway.

She proudly buys a bunch of disposable pens immediately after supposedly buying fountain pens to avoid wasteful writing tools.

This entire video is yet more proof that she has no clue what sustainability means and doesn't really care about being insanely wasteful, she just says whatever random tit she thinks will fit her manufactured personality without backing it up with actions. She's the poster child for entitled, braindead stupidity.

Exactly!! The sheer excess of her possessions -- clothes, pens, books, kranken rucksacks, gifted things that somehow end up on Depop -- is the polar opposite of sustainability. Yet again, Ruby throws in a word she doesn't know the proper meaning of, just because it's trendy and will attract viewers. Classic clickbait.

Same! I was under the assumption that it was moldy on the outside, for some reason. But oh dear - you couldn’t pay me to store my (albeit non-Victorian nor Dark Acadaymia) clothes in there.

This is the same with so many influencers. Being ’sustainable’ isn’t just about buying second-hand or passing on things when you no longer need them (however you choose to do that …), but that’s how they interpret it because as long as companies are willing to keep throwing stuff at them, then their lifestyles are ’sustainable’. I have no problem with people buying antiques or second-hand stuff but if the intention is to use it then it has to be functional. Buying a mouldy old trunk with any kind of thought of actually using it is a bit daft given that doing so may very well damage your other possessions …

Also, I have a bit of a problem with Ruby declaring that things were made to last in the Victorian age - surely it was much the same as now in that the stuff we still have today was generally good quality and was made to last but there was also a huge amount of disposable stuff produced. I’m not a Victorian expert at all but wasn’t it also the era where we started to see brand names, advertising, department stores and the encouragement of mass consumerism by the burgeoning middle-classes?

And complaining about how scissors aren't made to be durable is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
First off, I don't know if Ruby has noticed but this is not kindergarten. An adult in uni does not use paper scissors every day. So you should not feel the need to have 'durable' scissors that will endure a lot of use without breaking.
Secondly, how do you even break a pair of scissors? I don't know about you but I've never had to throw away a pair of scissors because they were broken or didn't cut anymore. You're probably going to lose them before you break them.
Thirdly, even if they do break after 5 or 10 years of use like she claims - dear God, it's a pair of scissors. For their average price, I'd say you're getting a decent mileage out of them.

She makes me so angry. She preaches about sustainability while owning entire boxes of stationery she's never used, piles of books she'll never read, and receiving about 50 individual gifts for every occasion.

I will admit to having gone through three gel pen refills (take note, Roobee, refills!) in the past four weeks because I did a thing and read through 16 Shakespeare plays, and the way my brain works is that the things I write down by hand have some chance of sticking in my brain and the rest... not so much. However, I’m not necessarily ever going to go back and look at those notes again, because I’m just doing this for fun. If I was a student, I would spare my poor hand and find far more efficient study methods.

Of course if I was doing it Roobee style, I would now go on to rewrite my 70+ pages of notes in rusty dip pen and then write a summary in Notion.
