omg no this is so funny to think about. Paint the image in your minds. You’re at the exhibition with your friend and you’ve reached the part of it where it is dark so you can see the lights creating the display. You can breathe. Finally you have gotten to spend time with your friend in a chilled out way, without having roobee the influencer photographer. The exhibit is enjoyable and you’re having a really nice time!

And that’s when you feel it. A tap on your shoulder and a whisper in your ear from behind you. “hello it’s roobee…” you hear, the dreaded words you had escaped from. “isn’t it so lovely we could all be together! what a simply gorgeous exhibition! Do you like my outfit of the day? I’m doing a book look of Alice in Wonderland! Would you mind filming me twirling? its so aesthetic here it will make the perfect place to take pictures and film the videos! oh and I simply cannot go without posting an instagram story!”

I'm a few seconds in to the most recent video and for some reason the fact that the New Yorker she has lying open is from 2018 made me laugh. I keep back issues of my favourite magazines/journals too. But in Ruby's case its just so very much just about the aesthetic, you know? So any ol' issue of the New Yorker will do.

I think Ruby absolutely would, but she always keeps her hair the exact same length just so she can always reuse old footage.

I think she just doesn't have the skills to do anything more complicated than a ponytail. Her attempts at putting her hair up in a simple bun were pretty bad for a 21-year-old and she can't even do a French braid.

A shorter hairstyle would suit Ruby's features, actually. Well, anything would be better than the limp single-length look. I don't think a pixie or short bob would work that well, but a medium-length cut would freshen up her look a lot. Or a medium bob cut to the shoulders with some soft layers. I don't know all the terms for these cuts, heh.

I had Ruby hair (not blonde though) my whole life - no fringe, no layers - until I decided to have it cut short into a textured pixie cut. I haven't gone back to my long hair, though I think about it occasionally. My hair is thick and dense, though, so it was hard to do anything complicated with it. Even a bun required braiding and a lot of bobby pins. Ruby has more styling options, since hers is medium or thin.

Hair is something that I found difficult to change, personally. I got a lot of pressure from my mother to cut my hair, but I am glad I waited until I wanted to do it. When I made the decision, I felt almost 100% certain I would be happy or at least able to live with the result, and that was important to me.

I couldn't French braid my hair either There was just so much, and it was heavy. At the end of the day, if I had put it in a ponytail or bun, my head would feel bruised underneath...

I get the feeling Ruby doesn't go to a salon, ever. That alone would help, even if she keeps it long.

Do you ever get to the stage of the day where you’ve drunk just too much water/tea and your throat just won’t swallow for a sec? (just me?)
This is what I always think when Roobee looks like this. Fits with the ED narrative of replacing food with empty liquid too.

Oh Ruby, she is baffling me. She is the busiest but kind of least productive person I can imagine. I, however will give her a massive pass on reading up on your lecture while you are on break. Many publish a list with the titles that will be relevant beforehand, even easier if it’s an in-depth look into one book. I found even just reading them on a superficial level (no notes or follow up research) gives a great foundation for the in-depth analysis in your course. And it frees up your time to work on the harder parts and for follow up reading. When I did my degree (before my country switched to a Bachelor/Master System (we basically did have to go it till the Master level. Bachelor Level did not exist and you wouldn’t graduate with a degree after just three years. A bachelor degree is therefore still looked down upon) there was a reading canon of about 100-150 books (definitely for philosophy and history. I think in literature it was the same) that were recommended to read because they could be referenced in quizzes and exams without being officially a part of your course. So yeah, you would have to read on summer break. But no way like Ruby goes on about stuff.
It’s really sad she isn’t talking more about her thesis. How did she settle in the topic? What’s it about? The development of the figure? How it was created? How it still plays a part for today’s perception? 8000 words is not much if you really want to go into it, she has to narrow the scope down if she wants to show she can work critically with her sources. What will her primary sources be? How is she organising her reading/writing (timetable)?. That would be great content for her channel. And even maybe helpful.

Also, maybe this is just me being dense, but why is she putting that weird-ass filter on everything? If you’re trying to sell something at a ridiculous price, wouldn’t you want to put up an accurate picture instead of some filtered to hell shots of a crumpled-up piece of clothing?

2. Fake freckles in first half of video. Forgot to draw them on for the 2nd half. Oopsie! Another messy video from Ruby, who is so determined to get her videos out as fast as she can, but doesn't bother to edit correctly.

3. Wears a massive cameo brooch like a true grandma. Well, at least she got the memo that losing all that weight has aged her.

4. Bought a filthy old trunk that she "thinks" is from a boarding school. It is moldy inside. You can see the green. Nice. Let's pack our clothes in this thing and use it to go back to uni. Uni, dear. Not boarding school.

5. Suggests we all write our letters and notes with pen and ink. Why? Uni is for studying, getting a degree, getting a job for life. Is isn't about some stupid, airhead aesthetic.

6. Also buys an old fashioned typewriter. Okay, Rubes. Enjoy writing your papers on that instead of a computer. Immediate fail when she realizes how hard it is to never make an error and that you need to rewrite the entire page again. (Can we just take a moment as to how much paper she wastes with all her lists, journals, letters, etc.?) So much for being sustainable...
