I don't think Ruby was mature enough at 18 to understand what a tremendous privilege it was to buy such a house.
She hadn't even started college, hadn't begun to live and develop as an independent person, and was putting herself into a mortgage. Not to mention that she couldn't even stay home alone.

Anyway, it's a very nice house and probably a lot of people's dream. I hope someday Ruby realizes how tremendously privileged she is and stops saying that a £22 book is expensive, because she couldn't be more cynical.

Mother Granger's back to blogging, and she's still just as blatant a buller as her daughter.

"After two years of slogging it out doing all the chores at home while my brood work on 'proper jobs' and uni work around me, I have decided that I might as well enjoy my new role and upgrade my tools accordingly."

"Proper jobs"? Plural? Ruby's mum neglects to mention that only one person in the household has a "proper job", and even then, playing Gordon Gekko and dodging the taxman stretches the definition quite a bit.

"I am quite slapdash and happy for the house to look overall clean and tidy."

Spoilers: It doesn't.

"There are spider webs up high in the nooks and crannies, plus plain old free-range ones but housework is time consuming and back-breaking enough when having to do the daily grind of washing up, washing clothes, cooking, cleaning the bathroom, 'Hoovering', mopping, gardening and tidying up without the added job of Spring cleaning too."

There's no evidence that any of those things happen in that house.

But at least we have a reason for why Ruby's house always looks like a squalid, festering swamp: Ruby's mum is so busy thinking about all the things that could potentially be keeping her from cleaning that she doesn't do anything at all.

Ruby’s mum’s blog is why, however much Ruby annoys me, I will always feel a bit sorry for her. Ruby is clearly struggling with something but the more you see of her parents the more you realise what a pair of utter twits they are. You can see where a lot of Ruby’s problems come from, and it’s such a shame that her mum especially seems to be more keen on promoting herself and her Vogon-like poetry than helping her daughter.

I'd say the poetry's approaching Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings levels:

I'm confused??? It doesn't actually cover the topic she is supposed to talk about or is my English so bad that I don't understand her notes??

If not, oh Rubeski, it really took some mental gymnastics to make this all about yourself. I'd like to know if people hurt their eyes and sockets from rolling them too hard.

Tbh I hate it. It only looks semi acceptable from outside. It's not cosy at all and not very functional. The entrance is straight to the living room which has a bleeping white carpet. No closet or anything. Super tiny kitchen and giant bedroom compared to that. Idk for her budget I would have expected sth better.

It's not you - almost all of it is an embarassing mess that has nothing to do with the discussion topic.

It's a recurring trend with Ruby to awkwardly shoehorn irrelevant things she likes into her essays, presentations, etc., even if they have nothing to do with the topic at hand. And there's nothing she likes more than herself.

She's still doing it with her dissertation, and wasted half the summer doing dissertation prep on the subject of Victorian letter writing etiquette, which is barely tangentially related to English lit, let alone relevant enough to base an entire dissertation around.

So it's not surprising she did the same with that presentation. She introduces it like a teacher. "I hope you're all adjusting well to online learning" is not a normal thing for a fellow student to say. They were all suffering through the peak of covid, just say "I hope you're all doing okay in this nightmare year we're having" - for most people, studying isn't the only thing in the world and they have other things to worry about.

And then she spends the rest of the presentation inflating her ego. "I am important. I am impressive. People listen to me. I am a leader. I am successful." I can only hope someone asked her what she actually teaches people, since this is a seminar about digital learning and all she does is post videos about twirling in fields and her toxic lifestyle. And then she stormed out crying.

Is it useful to write out your whole speech word for word like that? I've done a lot of oral exams/presentations over the years because our education system is pretty much based on oral exams and never once have I written a whole script for myself like that. Normally what you do is you make a rough outline of the speech with all the topics you want to talk about in sequence and the most relevant points about them. Did she memorize it or did she look at her notes every two seconds?

Last time I did sth like that was primary tbh and it was because I had no experience in public speaking and was stressed. Now I would only do a summary of points / subtopics I want to make sure I won't forget to mention in a particular order but not a word by word speech. Gives you an idea how bad she is at that. And that's okay if you struggle with public speaking but I surely would not show that on my yt channel

That video is also incredibly revealing. Obviously nothing has changed at all in her atrocious time management and organisational skills. She's still making a show of complaining that she has so much to do and not enough time, after wasting an hour on making a pointless timetable.

But she says she reads Sparknotes synopses for the books she's assigned before reading the actual book, then shows herself copying almost all of the Sparknotes information into Notion (while complaining that she struggles to remember the characters before even reading the book). Not only is this an insanely baffling, backwards way to learn anything, it's incredibly telling of how she "reads": She doesn't. Even academically, she cheats, the same way she does with the books she pretends to read for personal enjoyment. She reads a synopsis, skims through bits of the actual text to highlight quotes and cobbles together her thoughts based on a Frankensteined list of material she found online.

whatever talk she gave in that video, it obviously wasn't for one of her normal classes. she introduces herself as a second year english student according to her notion notes, which she wouldn't have to do in a class full of her english student peers. i assume it was some kind of extra lecture series exeter organised, accessible to all their students, and invited speakers to. in that context i think it's fair for ruby to introduce herself and explaining that she is an "influencer", as this is the norm for events like that, for speakers to say a few words about who they are. just wondering why exeter thought her being an influencer makes her equipped to speak on digital learning

If I remember correctly it was in 2019 since she was in her university dorm, but not entirely sure
