Jesus Christ Ruby open a bleeping dictionary. This is beyond embarassing for an Eng Lit student.
Quiscent is not a word either and I'm not sure quiescent would mean anything in that context either
I hope Grammarly reach out to sponsor her because something needs to be done here jfc
I was JUST about to post about 'quiscent'. Like what the actual eff does she actually mean?!

Mother Granger's back to blogging, and she's still just as blatant a buller as her daughter.

"After two years of slogging it out doing all the chores at home while my brood work on 'proper jobs' and uni work around me, I have decided that I might as well enjoy my new role and upgrade my tools accordingly."

"Proper jobs"? Plural? Ruby's mum neglects to mention that only one person in the household has a "proper job", and even then, playing Gordon Gekko and dodging the taxman stretches the definition quite a bit.

"I am quite slapdash and happy for the house to look overall clean and tidy."

Spoilers: It doesn't.

"There are spider webs up high in the nooks and crannies, plus plain old free-range ones but housework is time consuming and back-breaking enough when having to do the daily grind of washing up, washing clothes, cooking, cleaning the bathroom, 'Hoovering', mopping, gardening and tidying up without the added job of Spring cleaning too."

There's no evidence that any of those things happen in that house.

But at least we have a reason for why Ruby's house always looks like a squalid, festering swamp: Ruby's mum is so busy thinking about all the things that could potentially be keeping her from cleaning that she doesn't do anything at all.

Had a nosy at the blog. She self published a book of poetry on "Freedom Day", and blogged about that. One of the poems is called, "Two Daughters". Unsurprisingly it's about Ruby and Marfa. It's a bit twee but could still give Ermit'smenthol a run for its money.

"Having lunch with old friends recently, I was told that I am not very feminist because of being super excited about my new 'Hoover' coming today"
"I have ordered a pink, Barbie style, upright Sebo, which I know doesn't sound very feminist at all"

Dear god, if Ruby learned her definition of feminism from her mother, no wonder she thinks that all things pink and sparkly are beneath her, and is determined to be not like other girls, she's been raised by someone who apparently doesn't quite understand feminism. I'm convinced that her mother just isn't very bright, this piece of writing is utter nonsense. My flat last year at uni didn't have a mop, and when I eventually got one holy tit I was over the moon. I was similarly excited when we got a new oven. Those things in no way negate my feminism. What the actual duck??? Also once again, why don't they get a cleaner? Surely they can afford it, and they'd be providing employment to people who desperately need it at the moment.

Wtf how did she not like Famous Five, that was my favourite series as a kid!! I grew up thinking that smuggling was going to be a far bigger issue than it actually turned out to be due to reading them 😂 I like the food suggestion, but then Ruby always claims to love a picnic. My money’s on it not being school based. Kids in the summer holidays…having fun? Playing? Going on *gasp* adventures? They should be locked in their bedrooms hunched over a desk giving themselves eye strain. I mean all those day trips to Kirrin Island - so unproductive! And not a single mention of their grades in the whole series.
I haven’t read the Famous Five, but I think you are all missing the point about it: it is impossible that the characters could coincide any kind of happiness with their lack of productivity (described well by lizzie2707); and, even more crucially, the children’s past academic performance and the main events of the series fail to intercept. These are sure signs of its being one of the worst pieces of narrative fiction their is. I don’t need to read it to see that.

She also has a poem called 'Covid Day' about getting sick with the 'rona and doing housework. I thought it might be a sign that coronavirus had ripped through that fetid house, but considering it also says she did a lot of cleaning and chores, I'm guessing the covid part is pure fiction, too.

Her blog entries are full of Tory energy, casual racism, wildly embellished stories and failing at life but blaming other people. She has an entire blog entry devoted to a trip to Bath. Only one out of the five lengthy paragraphs mention the trip to Bath, the rest is devoted to her accidentally booking two holidays at once through sheer stupidity. Naturally, technology is to blame, not her own stupidity. It's easy to see where Ruby gets her traits from.

Wow. Her mother's blog is very revealing of her character. Quite frankly, she sounds like a b****. Is housework below her? Feeling sorry for herself because she has to pick up a duster and a vacuum cleaner and actually try and tidy the place up (which she obviously never does as the place is always a complete pigsty). Sorry, dear, but many of us have full time jobs, kids, husbands, homes and we do chores too. And we don't feel demeaned over it. It is our home and we are proud to have it look nice and not everyone wants to hire out and have a stranger come in to do it. We don't need to date it back to the 50's and feel sorry for ourselves. My husband is not upset when he has to help out or take over. It is part of marriage/partnership. Apparently she is lacking in that. She sounds like a complete flake, which really is no surprise to me. Ruby and Martha's behaviors and characters come from somewhere. Not out of the blue. They have been spoon fed being whack jobs from the beginning. I get major hippy, free-minded vibes from this family, to the point of no control or destination. I can pretty much see them all playing dress up to some extent in 20 years, stuck in their home, as the world and life passes them by, while they wonder why no one wants to play with them. omg...truly pathetic.

"My yearly planner will now be a super-duper-ultra-most-exclusive limited edition due to the negativity of a select few people in the comments to make sure only the most productive, positive people benefit from it.

The price is £200 and it comes in rustic "autominal" brown, so you can enjoy October no matter the month!

OT: I have realised several times now that Ruby turns her book pages from front to back in her videos. (see last IG post). With non-fiction it can still make sense to read it from back to front, but with novels I don't see the point.

Part of the video is mirror flipped, you can see the writing on the cover is backwards.

It's unbelievable, I work a very demanding job full time, study, have three cats  and still I manage to clean my house regularly. That bish has a super rich tax avoiding husband, no legit job or responsibilities, basically stays home all day and still doesn't manage to do even basic cleaning around herself. What a waste of life.

Reading her mother's blog the only thing that comes to mind is "please shut the duck up"

I feel like you should be able to move past the mindset that there's something wrong with pink once you hit your 20s. I swear people of her generation are paranoid about girl colours and boy colours.

FEMINISM IS WHEN NO PINK HOOVER??😡😡

Wow, you can really see why Ruby is completely incapable of thinking any deeper than surface level into any important topic (tbt to holocaust = bullying).

Man, even the first bit of the first sentence sounds so pretentious. Why emphasize that she's seeing "old friends"? Why not simply say friends and let it be? No, it's got to be "old friends", because she has moves in such extensive social circles. Pretentious as all, just like Robee.

Edit: I looked it up and the pink Sebo is just shy of 390 Pounds. £384.90 to be specific. Well, Mother Granger may not know how to clean but she damn well knows how to waste money. :giggle:

I couldn't find the cottage she bought when I searched on Google. Can anyone post a link? Given that it's a publicly available rental and she doesn't live there, I don't think it would be problematic to post it.

Good thing you had Ruby's example to follow or you might have used that word incorrectly. Imagine the embarrassment 🧐

The let has been agreed but if you search Rightmove for 1 bed cottage in Little Missenden and include let agreed properties you should be able to find it for now :sneaky:

Ruby’s mum’s blog is why, however much Ruby annoys me, I will always feel a bit sorry for her. Ruby is clearly struggling with something but the more you see of her parents the more you realise what a pair of utter twits they are. You can see where a lot of Ruby’s problems come from, and it’s such a shame that her mum especially seems to be more keen on promoting herself and her Vogon-like poetry than helping her daughter.
