Is it just me or are her videos becoming more of a slog to get through?

Her family are very boring people if buying a birthday card for someone counts as a "day trip".
Not just you. Her content is so repetitive. The porridge looks so disgusting. She is reading a book that she has misnamed so many times. Its Picnic at Hanging Rock. NOT 'Picnic on Hanging Rock'. Is she even really reading it? If so, why does she keep saying the title wrong, even writing it wrong on Insta post captions. Lots of old footage too.

'it doesn't feel very hard.'

famous last words Roobes

also why the duck would you have courgette for breakfast?

I'M A VEGETARIAN AND THAT SOUNDS WEIRD.
I can not get over the fact that she put that in her porridge. I'm also vegetarian and I call them zucchinis. The reason she has them for breakfast is because she is restricting her calories and its a vegetable = low sugar.

I just feel sad for her because she doesn't look healthy at all. It's shocking.

I feel sorry for her too. She does not look at all well. Vegetarian and even vegan diet can be done in a healthy way. What she's doing aint it. What pisses me off is that I get the impression that she sees how she looks as a win.

Yup, it's not even fun cringe content anymore since it's just the same thing over and over with even less effort than the time before.

She skims books at most, so it's unsurprising that she never remembers even the titles (like Stephen King's "The Shankshaw Redaction" or whatever she kept calling it). I'm sure she just saw "Picnic" in the title and Victorian schoolgirls on the cover and thought it'd be a fun cottagecore romp to pretend to read.

This sums up her content so well. She's got such a huge audience, full of people who look up to her as an authority figure, and this is the best content that she can bring herself to produce.

She leads such a sad life. She's constantly trying to be productive even when she's twirling around a field or reading a book while she hopefully, doesn't walk into a post. Or a tree. Who studies BEFORE the semester? How does she even know what the syllabus is? Maybe it's different where she lives, but when I went to college, we didn't get the syllabus until the first day. It seems like she knows exactly what her classes will contain before she ever gets there. As for her appearance, she's looking more and more like I little girl. If I didn't know anything about her, and I saw a photo of her, I would think she was about 12 years old. Yikes.

Her university has the reading lists up for all the modules. I’m ngl, I might do some of the primary reading beforehand myself, especially longer novels, just so I could be re-reading instead of reading for the first time when term is in full swing. But I wouldn’t do secondary reading, articles etc., beforehand, which is what she’s doing. So she’s going to rock up to class, regurgitate what she’s read, and probably not gain any new insights from discussion, because she already ”knows the right answers.”

As for her looking like a little girl... That’s precisely the look she’s going for. Too bad the weight loss is really, really aging up her face.

When I saw Ruby was reading Shawshank, I was shocked because King isn't in her comfort zone at all because King, for all his absolutely earned popularity, is a challenging writer. He is such a genius at character, world building, ambiguous character development and plot. Shawshank is such a profound and yet visceral novel so I was looking forward to Ruby's thoughts on it - which were virtually non existent. I wanted her to talk about it like an English student is supposed to but I just got the feeling that it was too adult, too confronting and too raw and real for her sensibilities.

I am a very different person to Ruby. I love to be challenged in that way. You tell me a book was banned, I wanna read it. I am fascinated by the dark half of humanity just as much as I find comfort in aesthetics and the lovely things people are capable of, no matter how life has treated them. Shawshank straddles those two things quite nicely and Ruby did not want to see that. I just don't see how a student of English can really immerse themselves in literature and books and not accept both sides of books and people as part of the expression of the human experience.

Yeah zucchini is one of the most versatile vegetables out there in my opinion but that porridge looked disgusting. Who would even think of putting zucchini in porridge?
Also it's a very bland vegetable on its own. It needs some olive oil, some garlic, some pepper etc to be delicious. And Ruby has no idea how to use those items lol

Oh and of course we have the multiple clothing changes. For someone who wants to be kind to the earth and live simply, she sure wastes a lot of water with excess laundry.
No need to worry - I guess when she changes her clothes she simply puts them back to her closet and eventually washes them like once every few months like her bedding  Or like once in 20 years like floor under her bed.

I just watched the section with her breakfast and the amount of times she was chewing each bite really stood out to me, despite how she sped it up. She needs help.

I was in the shower and, because Ruby Granger lives rent free in my mind (lol) I started thinking about the baffling lack of compassion and the selfishness that she shows.
I've been "following" her for years at this point (I'm not subscribed to her channel anymore but I keep an eye on her). Correct me if I'm wrong, but has she ever raised money for a cause? Donated money? Shared a GoFundMe page her fans could donate their pocket money to? Donated her possessions?
Granted, she may have done charity in private and not talked about it on her channel, but I doubt it. This is someone who expects praise because she held the door open for someone. And even if she did, considering the massive following she has, it would literally be detrimental to a cause if she just donated and not shared it on social media.
The past couple years have unfortunately been full of disasters. Everyone else I follow has done something about at least one of them. Either organised a fundraiser themselves or donated to an existing one and urged their followers to do the same. Ruby is out there buying houses with her revenue from Youtube, her family lives in a literal mansion, her father drives an Aston Martin, and she won't even donate her old clothes. So much for being "an ambassador for kindness" and "aligned to the values of Christianity". I guess she skipped the lecture about giving everything you have to the poor.
the average middle-upper class Victoria family loved performative Christianity!

So she prepared for next year by reading one (1) children’s book, making notes on Father Christmas, and taking 40 minutes to come up with reasons why her dissertation topic is relevant (meaning she definitely hasn’t got it approved yet), and her ”day in the life” was filmed about a month ago (before the planner went on sale). Gotcha.
I still need to watch the video . . . I'm curious as to whether she will analyse aspects of Father Christmas in the context of "scarier" European St Nicholas traditions (where Nicholas travels with demons). I always thought the externalised representation of the dualistic "duties" (reward & punishment) of Father Christmas seemed older: there's something nice about having two separate beings for these two duties. It's less complicated theologically and philosophically. Yet I was thinking just now that this might purely be the result of amalgamation: stranger pagan traditions had to be folded somehow into the narrative of a saint giving gifts, so instead of allocating the punishment duties straight to the saint, the demons got to tag along with him instead. Well, I'll just watch it. I'm sure it will be frustratingly shallow.

You can find European/Alpine Christmas traditions from the same time period by searching Krampus & Nicholas. A little horror with your Christmas? Why not . . . Actually some explanations state explicitly that Nicholas and Krampus live together year-round.
