Can we talk about the sheer waste of time, energy and soul you lose constantly wanting to be productive? Why is it so deeply important to always be doing something? Why can't the mind and body rest and not see it as a waste of time? Why is the waste of time a problem when time itself is a construct? Why is the need for structure so strict, so absolute that not having structure creates panic so acute that something must be found to do to breach the gap?

It must be exhausting to be a person like Ruby. I just got done watching a reading vlog she did in July 2020 where she read five books in a day and she is berating herself because she slept for two hours longer than she intended to. She clearly needed the sleep and she couldn't even allow herself that necessity without it being a thing to be commented on. I can't really see how you can read and properly digest so many books in a day either but that's a discussion for another day.

One video I'd love her to make is to throw away the lists and notes and just be. Do nothing.

Force herself to relax. Get her nails done. Do a face pack. Let a deadline pass without submitting anything. Be late. Catch a train and get off at a random station and see what's there. Paint. Read a trashy romance. Try something she's never even tried before and laugh if she can't do it. Watch a movie that deals with some really grown up stuff and see it through. Go and find some clothes more suitable and fashionable and see how that feels. Start a conversation with a total stranger. Challenge herself in ways she never has before.

I'm just thinking out loud but I'd love for Ruby to throw off those shackles and dance in the rain occasionally, you know?

That whole video was just so wrong in so many ways but who puts labels in their fridge and why would you do that in your parents fridge?
Honestly if my kid did that to my fridge I'd be pissed. Even though I have a habbit of putting things in certain places labelling it, especially under my authority would just feel like they were telling me where to put stuff, not under my own want.
Also by the looks of the bottle it was all alcohol, how would it be incorrect to call it all alcohol?

was gonna reply to this with thoughts I thin ka lot of people have said before... being productive can be great but also rest is also great. Not everything is productive, but I also wonder....where she she get this constant need to work and be productive from? According to her "assumptions about me 2" her parents didn't push her, so I don't think it was them, and I know she has said she has OCD tendencies, but would that be it? I know people who love studying, learning, and even things like cleaning but none of they would waste half the time Ruby does just on the act of being "productive"

Also even if it's all in illusion, it's a weird one to keep up for years.

Sorry to be a bit off topic again, but I've been reading through all the threads and found this video as people were talking about a puppy called Lola, and I just want to say...wtf is this breathing in the audio? I actually had to pause the video and rewind it to make sure it was from this video. Edit- and yes this video is old from 2018 but it's just really strange to me.

Wait so is Otto Lola and they changed her name? I didn’t think Lola was that young? Her and Margot always look either the same age or as if they got them around the same time so I never questioned it 😂

I know Holly Gabrielle made a video like this a while ago, where she just watched Netflix in bed all day (I didn't watch it, so can't comment on if she actually ended up following through or not), but I really want to see what Ruby's take on such a video would be. I would genuinely be fascinated to see what she does, and what her take on an "unproductive" day would be

I think they change Ottoline’s name to Lola, I seem to remember that they got the puppy and then changed her name not long after they got her. I’m assuming as she’s a pedigree she maybe came with a Kennel Club name and they changed it to something more usable.

Possibly a hot take (def one for Ruby) but there's no such thing as an 'unproductive day'. Even if all you do is lie in bed and stare at the ceiling, you're getting needed rest. 'Doing nothing' and unwinding is actually a crucial element of being productive - you'd burn out otherwise.

Hmmm... can anyone remember how close she said the house she bought was to his family home? I may have found it (but I obviously won't post the address here). There's only one house that sold in her area within 6 months of her video which matches the architecture she showed, and it sold for over £500,000.

I can't help with your question but just want to commend you on your research skills 👏

Also by the looks of the bottle it was all alcohol, how would it be incorrect to call it all alcohol?
Because ”alcohol” refers to a group of substances that includes ethanol (the stuff that gets you drunkled) but also methanol (which is used in antifreeze and will make you blind and/or kill you if you drink it), sugar alcohols such as xylitol, erythritol and sorbitol (which are used as calorie-free sweeteners and make you fart to varying degrees), fatty alcohols such as cetyl alcohol (which is used in cosmetics and, contrary to ”regular” alcohol, doesn’t make your skin dry but rather the opposite), etc. etc. So it wouldn’t actually be incorrect to label the shelf ”alcohol” but Roobee is teh smrt, so she knows that unless the shelf is labeled ”ethanol”, it could contain basically ANY of the abovementioned substances, which might lead to antifreeze and sorbitol being stocked in the fridge and the entire family (except for Eri-- I mean, Roobee, because we all know she never partakes) going blind and farting themselves to death.

So going back to the yearly planner - how stupid is it to release a yearly planner a week AFTER Christmas, where everyone who regularly uses a yearly planner will most likely have been given one as a gift?
Obviously Ruby makes stupid decisions all over the place, but her production company just sit back and let it happen? Have they just given up on her totally?

I don’t know if it’s just me but it looks like she throws a little tantrum starting at 03:46 😂 I wonder if her dad was telling her to leave the bloody fridge alone?

I literally made an account to jump in here on the whole productiveness conversation, because I was really moved by the post that she made about how she normally wouldn’t take a relaxing vacation bc she viewed it as unproductive. I used to be JUST like her, and bc of that, I hypothesize that her need to be productive stems from insecurity. I never had many friends growing up, I wasn’t outstanding at sports (I’m in the USA where that has a lot more purchase), but the thing I was good at was school. So because that was the only area in my life where I received praise, I thought that was all I was good for, and the moment I stopped being good at school I would be worthless as a person. Because I was shy and didn’t have friends or people who seemed to like me for who I was, I felt that I needed to make up for that, to prove that I deserved to exist. So I filled my days with “productive” things similar to what Ruby does because that’s all I had going for me. It wrecked my mental health because I viewed EVERYTHING that wasn’t academic as a waste of time, even something like shopping with my parents, because I would come out of those experiences with “nothing to show” for them and I needed something to show for the things I did, because I had spent so long trying to fit in and had nothing to show for that. It got to the point where my parents would beg me to STOP doing my homework lol. I’m in a MUCH better place in my life now and I’ve gotten so much better with these things, and it’s because of that that Ruby saddens me so much. If she thinks the way I once thought, that would make a lot of sense as to why she behaves the way she does.

She definitely looked like she was having an argument with her dad just before 4 minutes, and then afterwards he seems to leave the room and her mum try to calm her down… I could just be reading way too much into this! But it could confirm what I’ve thought for a while, which is that “Mother Granger” somewhat enables Ruby’s behaviour - same with Marfa. In which case, she perhaps is in denial how much Ruby has slipped in the past year, or feels that “mothering” her will make her magically better.

From experience, I can say that my mum tried to do this for me and it’s only through a lot of time and therapy that I was able to say to her “please call me out!” Key to this was to ask her to stop buying all my “safe foods” and help me challenge the ED more, also to keep encouraging me to go out, “renter the world” so to speak and feel the fear.

“a comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing grows there.”

It's a toss-up who's more to blame. Sixteenth have taken the reins on organising and manufacturing, and have clearly opted for the cheapest, sloppiest design, product lines and marketing possible to maximise quick profits for themselves.

But equally, Ruby signed off on all that, and happily put her name to a personalised brand she doesn't care about the quality of. She has no excuses.

This was really creepy with the horror music too 😂 But I actually think it’s someone banging cutlery near to where she’s recording the audio, it’s more noticeable in the second “breath” and then a door slams at the same volume.
