She said she bought the house with the minimum deposit, at the time would've been 5% so she had £16,250. I suppose it's believable she had saved that much from youtube, as she doesn't really have any expenses so could easily save that much money up over a couple of years or less (which shows how privileged she is!). And like others have said, she's not paying the mortgage, her tenants are. She's not exactly working hard

Glad she told us that timers are good for setting timers and she use's her watch to tell the time, I wasn't actually aware time existed before this video. Everyday is a school day
I'm happy now I know I'm suppose to put small humans snacks in tupperware box I was wondering where I was going wrong

I just hope she doesn't say something like this when people inevitably point it out, lol.
Considering her blatant, dubious lies when she gets called out for everything else (like her Depop scams or the charity swindle) I'd say that's scarily close to what she'd say.

As for the honey thing, like most of her screw-ups, it's not so much that she does it, it's that she constantly puts on airs of superiority about herself for being vegan, when clearly taking a flexible approach to it.

If she'd said "I try to be vegan wherever possible, but there are times when I make exceptions" it wouldn't be an issue. Instead, she just goes out of her way to lie about these things that can easily be disproven. "I always sticks to a vegan diet. I always paint my nails every day. I always clean my room and make my bed every morning. I always do this, that and everything inbetween because I'm more productive than most people." It's just endless lies to feed her ego.

From what i remember, she titled the video 'buying my first house at 18'. Think it's a cottage in a village near her parents house and she's planning on renting it out until she finishes Uni. There was also another video where she spent the night there but that was cut short because she didn't like being alone in the cottage.
I can't see her living there after uni. Living in the middle of nowhere, with no driving licence and she doesn't like being alone there? Not to mention presumably she will have/want to find a job of some kind (unless she plans to rehash YT content forever) so a town or city would be better (regardless of what she might think now). Nah, to me it looks like it's purely a financial decision so that later on she can cash out. It's probably on AirBnB or something and she took the video down so you can't identify it.

to be fair, i know many vegans who also eat honey.
Far from me to gatekeep the label vegan because I don't care but she does also wear pearls and leather goods. Honestly I see this as just another label that she unauthentically pretends to embody (like bookworm, slow living, productivity, dark academia, cottagecore or whatever the fuck she's playing dress up as these days)

lol She is so phony with everything she does. One minute she doesn't like a book, the next she loves it and will hype it up for the next month. A year from now she will be trashing it again, saying it was too deep for her, or it lost her attention, or she lacked enough knowledge about Greek mythology to connect with it. Yada yada yada. She is probably reading other people's reviews and summaries and smashing them all together to make her next story or vlog on what a fabulous book it is and how special she feels that she is one of the crowd that has read it and how a few years ago she, sniff-sniff, didn't feel worthy to read the cool books. Yeah, Ruby. We know you better than you know yourself.

I remember her saying something like this. She said she was struggling to get into it or something? I can't remember exactly but there was defo an insta story where she said she wasn't liking it.

It's so obviously a lazy excuse for the fact that she just doesn't like the book but doesn't want to admit it. It was a massive giveaway that she was talking about it at the same time as The Secret History - apparently one of the best books she'd ever read, but it just 'wasn't the right time' to read it, and she hasn't picked it up since.
Those books aren't illustrated so she's not interested

Everything in this picture exudes sadness: the face, the outfit, the whole situation. Her eccentricity is getting out of hand.

This girl needs to get away from the internet, have a drink with friends, read without doing a performance... just live without doing eccentricities. Being different is OK, just keep it to yourself.
This is so true. I mean, I don't care whether she drinks alcohol or not. But yes, get out and live your life while it is good. Do stuff. Experience life. Forget putting on a show, forget dressing up, forget your stupid "Let's Pretend" attitude and just get living! In the scheme of things, in the sum of your life, social media is nothing. Nil. Nada. Useless. How many people lived without it and still do? How many people lived healthy and full lives without opening FB accounts or dancing around on TikTok, worrying over likes on Instagram and fussing over comments on YouTube. How many have reached their goals and beyond without ever even touching a computer or smart phone? Try it, Ruby. What happened to learning how to drive this summer? What about a job? Work? Reading some challenging literature? Hanging out with friends without posing or comparing body images, or dressing up in similar outfits? wtf is going on with her? She is so lost and messed up.

100%, she doesn't really address her audience unless she's selling something right? Sometimes I do wonder is she intentionally making the same video over and over again (not in the sense that she's reusing footage, but in terms of the actual video topics) or does she genuinely think that she's coming up with new ideas, does Ruby ever even mention upcoming videos, videos that have been suggested or anything like that? I know not every youtuber takes that approach but I just found it a little odd. (Maybe she does mention this stuff and I just don't realize it..)
She's never interacted with her audience at all. Only recently she has started to heart and reply to some comments. Not that her comment section is interesting to interact with. For a studytube channel that should attract analytical and thoughtful individuals, the lack of depth in her comment section is baffling. Apparently all everyone has to say is "Great video, love you Ruby ♡" under every single video.
Whenever she makes a video that people might react negatively to (like her birthday/Christmas hauls for example) she uses the fact that it was highly requested as an excuse but I don't know who is requesting those videos. I've literally never seen a comment on her Youtube channel requesting haul videos.

I just realised what this reminds me of!!!

View attachment 709240

Wait, no, sorry, a decent version of Little Women isn't her favourite... (as someone who apparently loves the Victorian era so how does she not have issues with the multitude of what's wrong in the '19 adaption? Oh wait, I forgot, no depth. I'm with you hahah)

Better!

Re Lady Chatterley - I wonder what she actually thinks of it? Has she actually managed to get through it all without flushing and clutching her pearls? Or was it too much like the Song of Achilles in the sensuality department? (as people have mentioned, not having a Greek Mythology phase doesn't seem to have stopped her from talking about The Odyssey. It's not like SoA is set in the same timeline or anything....oh wait....) I doubt she'd be interested in reading the book Penguin put out of the court case on Lady Chatterley ('The Trial of Lady Chatterley', for those interested) then...
But but the 2019 version has Emma Watson and Timothée Shamalay in it

Yet again I don't understand who this video is aimed at. Things like Notion and using your library are only really suitable for uni students (we were never allowed laptops in class at school, maybe that's normal in private schools though?). But a pencil case and folder are not gonna be used AT ALL by an English student at uni. I remember buying hundreds of folders before first year and I literally never used them because we don't get given loose paper. So is this video for a 15 year old about to do GCSEs, or a 21 year old about to start their dissertation?

'Essential number 47: Air. Oxygen is so important for our brains, don't forget to breathe!'
Just to throw out a different opinion, I'm an English student about to start on my PhD, and I used folders/my pencil case literally every day during my MLitt. I would store and organise my handwritten notes from seminars etc in folders/files, organised by module and week and put any relevant research/secondary reading in with the notes from that week's seminar.

I know lots of people do their notes digitally etc but I just can't take stuff in unless I'm actually writing it out by hand.

The ”second breakfast” bullshit is so ridiculous, she must really think all her followers are idiots. If she was genuinely still hungry after breakfast, you’d think her pea-brain would form the idea of a bigger bowl of porridge sooner or later… but she keeps on doing it. And changing outfits between breakfasts 🙄

OT but I've always thought it bizarre that Ruby said (used to say?) her favourite word was 'productivity'. How sad do you have to be to pick what is effectively corporate jargon from thousands of beautiful English words? And for someone who supposedly reads as much as she does
And she said her favourite quote from any book ever is "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers" - the kind of meaningless platitude you'd find in a cheap greeting card, not a witty, meaningful or memorable line of prose. She's an indescribable dimwit.

also p.s I would not be coming for a non-native English speaker like this!!! So if english is anything other than your native language, do not worry!!!! I just think most native speakers should/would know the correct usage of coincide lol
I am not a native English speaker. Most of the time I just try to express myself simply. Once when I was in London for 2 weeks, I was really scared that I would totally fail. But you were all very nice and there was not a single misunderstanding (I guess). But with Ruby's videos, I'd better not learn any more English 😅

I just watched the section with her breakfast and the amount of times she was chewing each bite really stood out to me, despite how she sped it up. She needs help.
THIS! No one can chew porridge that much, it is already soft. Btw long time lurker here, I enjoy reading your comments so much that’s why I follow Ruby lol

She looks so unhappy in all of her latest instagram pictures - even while smiling. And why is she lighting a candle and getting so weirdly happy over that? Did I miss something?
