Roe v Wade was 1973.I’m seeing a lot of anti choice people on Twitter sharing the Roe deathbed confession as they call it , I am finding it hard to follow what their actual point is , the angle they are going with is “ it’s all built on a lie!!” etc Out of curiosity, am I right in saying abortion was available in the UK prior to America or that at least , Roe vs Wade didn’t make any difference to the availability of safe abortions in Europe ? I haven’t watched the clips so I don’t know what the story is with this “confession” or whatever it is , I fail to see how it makes any difference, it has nothing to do with the fact that people should have a choice
I don’t know about that last part. Taking abortion pills is safe for the vast majority of women but sometimes things go wrong. Sometimes things are going right but it feels like something is going wrong because it’s painful. And it can be hard to hide - try explaining that to a partner or parentAmerica, the new Afghanistan
My young adult Christian Orthodox son was shocked yesterday when I told him that I had an unwanted pregnancy at age 40. I detailed all the different ways our lives would have been ruined if I'd had a third child. Thankfully, I lost it early on, but it could have been very different, and I'd have been one of those women he'd be condemning right now. He's directly benefitted from a pregnancy not continuing and he took that on board. I also explained to him that this ruling will cause countless deaths and ruined lives. Reproduction is womens business and we need full control. Nothing to do with anyone else. Nothing to do with men whatsoever. Women have been 'dealing with' their reproductive issues since humans began. It's a messy business, but it's our business.
I hope they can get abortion pills out to women. This seems like an easier and safer option.

I know the feeling. I’m still affected by it. It was ugly but nowhere near as ugly as the American fight will be. Reading about this I’m definitely feeling a lot of the old stuff coming back up, I’m really having to censor where I post now because engagement with a lot of anti abortion people is almost like self harm. Focus on yourself and your own mental well being.I have to admit it here but I am burying my head in sand about this. I have PTSD from having a miscarriage and then fighting tooth and nail to repeal the 8th amendment in Ireland whilst pregnant on both child.
I am only realising now how traumatising it was and I have done my fighting, now dealing with the trauma. People in America have an almightly fight on their hands, my heart goes out to them. But having to have a not my circus, not my monkeys approach for my own mental health.

i’ve already seen a lot of people being told to delete their period tracker apps etc. the truly sad thing is that we live in an age of almost unprecedented digital surveillance, especially in the us - i think it’s only a step away from an official register, but there will certainly be some kind of monitoring in.It will be scary if the red states in the US introduce something akin to what Poland have. They have introduced a 'pregnancy register' which will be essentially used to track pregnant woman.

We had to get a boat or plane before we had more rights, I kept shuddering when I thought about Covid and the fact woman would have been forced to keep a pregancy during Covid and travel bans.I know the feeling.
