It shouldnt be up to any government bodies though. Women everywhere should be able to access abortion. Regardless of where they live.

Should it come down to a state by state basis to allow say organ transplants? There is no other medical procedure that is broken down like this surely?

If you dont like abortion, dont have one its really that simple. Pro choice is not pro abortion. I think thats the difference, I want people to have the choice regardless of what decision I would make myself if I was to find myself unexpectedly pregnant.

The choice should lie solely with the individual.

Well I guess they’re going to have to get organised and join together in “demonstrative solidarity” on a state level then.

Presumably that will have to involve “building coalitions” with people they don’t agree with, perhaps including women who don’t want abortion rights in their own state. How will that work if the opposition is continually being berated and demonised? That level if outrage does not work. It entrenches people even more deeply in their own beliefs. It hasn’t worked for 50 years.

I don’t think trying to properly understand this topic from all sides is being passive. I’ve read and thought about this subject a lot, I used to live in the US and that made me very interested in the country. Passive to me is jumping on a bandwagon of “everything is terrible, the sky is falling in, next they’ll come for [insert emotive issue here]” based on a Marie Clare article. It doesn’t help. Nobody ever made a good decision in a state of panic.

Anyway the attitude of little old me in a market town in the U.K. isn’t going to make much difference to abortion rights in the US. I actually don’t think it’s necessarily up to me to fight for the rights of people in different countries with cultures, customs [and legal systems] that I don’t fully understand. I know that goes against the prevailing attitude that everyone has to involved with every injustice everywhere, but to do so smacks of arrogance, in my opinion. But I could be wrong. What are others here doing to fight for US abortion rights?

- You can’t build a coalition with people who are literally the opposition. You find compromise with that group after you have a coalition. You should read about Susan B. Anthony’s efforts. She was a force.
- The author of the Marie Claire article went to journalism school at Columbia University, an Ivy League institution. She cites Clarence Thomas explicitly saying these already decided cases should be overturned.

- If you don’t care about Roe v. Wade maybe don’t read & post in a thread called Roe v. Wade??

There is a reason people like Kamala Harris are ringing the alarm bells and the “next they’ll come for” rhetoric is going at full blast. It’s election year.

What would warrant actually ringing alarm bells then? If women's choice being taken away is not enough of a reason?

The comments aren't transphobic. You're welcome to join the discussion to make it more of a debate. But please don't just come in and call us all TERFS and leave without adding anything to the discussion.

We are all very open to debate but "the other side" don't ever provide legitimate sources and just tell us we are wrong

It really isn't. Most forums only let the other side have a voice, tattle let the silent majority also have a voice.

People are genuinely worried about what is going on with our children and also with women's spaces .. I've only posted on that thread once but read it here and there. No one absolutely no one has any problems with trans who actually transition or will be transitioning ( unless they are children)
