It will be the poor that are affected. Which are the non white in some areas. duck it a lot of areas. Which are also being driven out of the right to vote. It is intentional to keep the poor poorer
Surely you cannot deny that the years of policing the language women use to discuss our issues and rights has had a hugely detrimental effect on women's rights campaigning?
Whether you like it or not TRAs and their tactics cannot be ignored in this mess.
NB: I said TRA and not trans people.
I had an abortion because I was pretty much forced to, by the man and by my family. My option was have an abortion or be on your own with no one…that was a scary thought for me so I had the abortion. I regret it, I think about it most days and I cry every anniversary. However, what would happen now to someone like me then, suddenly I can’t have an abortion, what would the options be, on my own or put the baby up for adoption. Choice is huge, it’s for every person in any situation, and I honestly don’t believe that it’s an easy decision to make, even if you think of the most heartless person I can guarantee it’s on their consciousness. I’m sad for America today.

The rest of us were talking about the erasure of women's language.
This is about abortion rights. Do you agree that women have the right to abortion and can you say that without mentioning trans issues.....which only 2% of the population actively think about btw

It is frightening to think of the impending increase in babies being born and abandoned and more up for adoption. Then the extra pressure on school places, employment, medical and benefit support. The emotional and mental impact on people in that situation will be devastating 
We are being thrown back into the dark ages where fundamentalism and a disrespect for science rule.
I agree with everyone about how wrong this ruling is. In a sad way, I’m not surprised. Women’s rights, the civil rights movement, gay rights for marriage equality, are all SO recent in terms of human history.
All of these things have been fought for, so hard, but sadly, because it’s relatively new, it’s inevitable that there will be a pushback.
But right now, (in a sad way), none of that matters. I’m just devastated for the women in America.

Give it six months and you'll have them complaining about women being prudish and fridgid for no longer partaking in hookup culture.Handmaids Tale comes to mind with this. Reading comments on the DM and I'm so angry at the amount of "well if women stopped sleeping with randoms" and "maybe women will think twice before opening their legs" they seem to forget that it takes two!
Not trying to derail from Roe v Wade but up until 2020, N.Ireland did not have the same abortion rights as the rest of the UK and even now today there is not a fully funded service here. And we currently dont have a sitting govt. Travelling for abortions, like many women in the US have to and as many women in NI have had to, presents so many issues.
It's a sad day when in 2022 women have no rights to their own bodies in the US. Women are going to do what they want and need despite any ruling. Fact.
However, now it'll be like a hundred years ago where it is done in secret putting many in danger and causing death.

I don’t think that’s derailing at all. I’m so glad you said this, because I stupidly asked “imagine this in the UK”, but this is an issue here. Thank you for pulling me up on this. It‘s so worrying to think about the repercussions.
It’s never about the right to life, it’s about controlling women and using religion and children as a smokescreen to hide behind.

I went on birth control in my late teens to help regulate my period. One time I was picking up my refill and was shocked by the price. Insurance refused to cover it because they thought it was to prevent pregnancy. My doctor had to write another prescription and note it was for periods to satisfy insurance which is a whole different topic.
This makes me worried for a likely ban on birth control next. It’s used for many different reasons in addition to pregnancy prevention. Lots of women have heavy/intense periods and birth control helps them to function every month.
What about medications that could potentially cause birth defects or harm to a fetus? Remember when Accutane and the like were popular for severe acne treatment? Women are heavily encouraged if not required to be on birth control while taking those types of medications.

I like how all the men on my fb timeline who call themselves feminists are completely silent on this. Constant updates about the rail strike? Tick. Trans women are women posts seemingly every month? Tick. Posts about how ‘real men are feminists’? Tick. Posts about Roe vs Wade being overruled? Alexa, play ‘Sound of Silence’.
I’m not saying that men automatically should post something but when they make being feminist, being activists and standing up for the working classes part of their identity, you kinda expect them to say *something* on the matter.

I can't believe that this Taliban-esque policy is happening in the country which calls itself the leader of the free world. It's actually frightening.
I know they already tried this unsuccessfully a couple of hundred years ago, but can't the gun-toting, bible-bashing half of America just separate itself from the progressive, forward-thinking half?
