I felt the same to begin with...watching this for an hour and a bit is going to get old fast...but it didn't take long to get used to it. I think a lot of that was down to the lads who voiced Robbie and the guy who did the motion capture, along with the fact it wasn't played for laughs and it was just part of the film.
I've just got back from watching it and absolutely loved it. Definitely brought back memories of standing outside his house in Tunstall 
I thought the Take That costumes, hair, dancing etc was spot on and I adored the Rock DJ sequence. I thought it was stunning. Would definitely watch it again.

When they met Robbie was still young, very handsome, funny, famous, I would fall in love with him easily for sure. Even when he went into rehab soon after they met - god only knows how many red flags in men I have ignored throughout my life! She was also beautiful when they met, and I think she was exactly his type (petite, brown hair, quite soft features, like the previous girlfriends of his).

So true, my husband also has severe adhd like Robbie and they can lack eye contact and sometimes seem detached.

He definitely has a type and she looks lovely here and isn’t dissimilar looking to Nicole Appleton. Has anyone met him in real life? I can imagine he is the type that is actually more attractive in real life as he’s so charismatic. I met Clive Owen once and he has that same very dark hair (then for Robbie!!) and green eye combo and it’s really compelling in real life. I’ve always thought they have similar eyes; when they look at you, you know about it!!
I've often had it come up in 121s at work that I come across as disinterested but it's because my mind is going ten to the dozen behind the scenes but my face looks blank haha

I think the tan is natural, he's been all over recently (Australia etc, where it's summer - ayda was on a yacht with the kids and her siblings at one point in sydney). If it's not, it's very even!
I do love the suit though!

Do we think it’s intentional that the Nicole and Robbie meeting scene had She’s The One?!What an amazing filmA hard watch in places, as a die-hard TT/Robbie fan, I did cry a few times. I also wonder, if Robbie and Nicole could have made it if not for the entertainment industry and his addictions. She comes out of it very well, so he obviously still thinks highly of her.
The re-recordings of the songs are amazing too, particularly Come Undone and Something Beautiful (Escapology is my favourite Robbie album).

The only thing that bugged me about the film is that there were no Stoke accents. At all. They vacillated between generic northern and stage school. I guess it was to make it more palatable to non-British audiences, but I did think it was a shame.

I’ve finally seen the film. I was never going to be objective but I loved it. It’s so beautiful - the cinematography is wonderful. The songs sound great - was always a sucker for his orchestral versions! I laughed and cried. I hope people give the film a chance. Didn’t even notice the monkey!
I finally saw the movie and was blown away. I’m from Melbourne where a lot of the filming was done. I was even at the concert they used to film the TT show at. It’s mind blowing how they’d taken local locations and turned it into the other side of the world. Spotted the odd Australian actor in the cast.
I’ve met Robbie a few times in passing over the last 20 years and he always seems that bit hyper with the minders he’s with… hard to tell if they’re babysitters or enablers. Australia doesn’t need that level of insulation between the famous person and the public.
He seems in a better place now. Back in 2003 I just wanted to pull him out of his promo circus and just take him out for a kebab, let him be normal for a bit. I really felt every bit of his emotional roller coaster in the film.
The monkey made total sense and I hardly noticed it by the end.
As for the bromance with Gary, I loved the reconciliation gesture at the end.

It’s funny that you say that you spotted your local locations, because it was the same for me… only I couldn’t spot the intended locations (‘cause none of it was filmed on location) and it felt so weird and jarring. I guess they maybe tried to make it look the same but none of it still felt very familiar.
I loved the gesture, too, though.
Saw the film at the weekend and thought it was incredible - not a dull moment, so engaging, emotional, entertaining. Really hope people give it a chance even if they're not familiar with him. Always had a soft spot for Robbie, his mega famous era was when I was getting into music for the first time so it's partly nostalgia but he just seems like a nice guy, no malice at all, and I'm very glad he survived all his trauma and now looks like he's having a very happy life with his family.,
For those debating the monkey, I genuinely just didn't question it and it was like it made sense right from the get go. I don't think someone could play him and do is justice so it worked in that respect too. Give it a go!
