Ironically I posted this on another thread a couple of weeks ago, classicPauline Collins will forever be Shirley Valentine to me. We watched that film when my parents first split and Mum later ended up going on a holiday to Spain with a friend - we warned her repeatedly not to be Shirley

Also a scene, there, with Tracie Bennett. An underrated actress who has been well-acclaimed in theatre roles as well as TV. My friend is a longstanding pal of hers and says she's always down-to-earth, lovely and never forgotten her roots. She's not really a 'luvvie', despite her years doing theatre, and can't be doing with showbizzy pretentiousness.
