Google the supply chain! It’s easy to find. There’s a lot of referenced articles. You can also spend time going through annual accounts of certain designers
As I said feel free to share the evidence. I don’t need to Google anything my research doesn’t tell me that a replica bag is as a good as a genuine one so I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to prove anyway?

My point remains the same, if you can’t afford it (or think it’s overpriced) it’s not for you 👍

I really need to know about this bag now, what it is, how the custom order works, how much it costs etc - I promise I won't think you're Braggy, I'm too tight to spend the money on a designer bag but would love to live vicariously through you!

It's custom order which is why I am in a wait. I don't want to say as no matter how I do, it will sound like a brag.

A day bag can always be carried over to evening with the right accessories. 😉

I have an LV Pochette Metis and a YSL Niki from TS Linda via repladies on Reddit. They’re legit *amazing*, 1:1 copies made of lovely materials and crafted exactly like the originals down to the last detail. I went into YSL and compared my bag and you’d never know.

it can be a bit daunting doing your first purchase through repladies but make sure you read all the instructions and info and it works :)

I'm quite low maintenance, I love the longchamp range which couldn't in any way be classed as high end, however years ago a friend of mine bought a fake mulberry in turkey and it lasted longer than her sister's authentic mulberry 😄

I’m a member on purseforum and have read the thread. She comes across as massively entitled and as for all those emails to her SA - just no.
I have a small but perfectly formed H collection and I’ve never e-mailed an SA in my life. She’s also a known re-seller and that’s where most of her purchases end up.
I can’t blame Hermès for washing their hands of her.

My point throughout this thread, it’s something I will never understand. I get that the higher end/more expensive things more often look better but it’s the ‘look rich’ when you’re not and doing some low level shit that is disturbing to me. I do blame social media.
Oh, social media is absolutely a major part of this. As I said in an earlier comment, the idea of trying to keep up with those around you is nothing new, but social media has definitely brought the pressure to new highs and the goals even more unbelievable.

What have you bought from there? Have you had any problems with shipping or quality? Just trying to get a good picture before I order anything.
Have you ordered from here yourself? Any good?
Yep, I have a LV pochette metis and an LV scarf. My friends/cousins have bought LV neverfulls, LV/Chanel/Gucci wallets, Gucci soho disco, Gucci belts and random bits of Tiffany jewellery. The quality is fine, definitely depends how much you pay. There are sometimes discrepancies with stitching or the patterns but nothing that noticeable unless you really look at it! Postage is fine just takes ages.

I am really anal and look at ALL the reviews first and at the measurements listed to make sure it’s as close to the real thing as possible.

I'm not sure what your financial background is, so maybe you are not around these types, but there are A LOT of people out there that buy homes and cars out of their price range. Have you ever heard of being "house poor"? It's when you buy a house out of your price range and are left without money to pay for other essential needs in your life. There are people who live with their parents at 30 just so they can own a luxury car to appear wealthy to their contemporaries.

Yes, many people accept things are out of their budget and move on. I'm that way and it sounds like you are too. But there is something deeply psychological/sociological happening in our society that is making people feel the need to create this false image by any means necessary.
Yes but how long does it last?
Won't be long till the bank comes knocking on the door and you're forced to foreclose. This is just a huge financial mistake that's short term and destined to end up in huge amounts of debts and eventually having the bank seize your property.

it causes the replica market to thrive, because the demand increases
Not just the replica industry but the authentic designer brands too... they all somehow turned into fast fashion. Instagram is the main reason for this and there's constantly a new "it bag" every few months or so.
Everywhere I look I see someone with a designer bag but 5-10 years ago I barely saw any and it was mostly the usual MK, Kate Spade, Coach.... and only a few people would be seen with high tier luxury brands. These days even kids in High School are somehow able to get a PSM (worth over $2k) among many other things. Unpopular opinion: but I am starting to not care for or want to spend money on luxury bags if it's something everyone and their grandma has... it just doesn't feel special anymore (at least to me). I am starting to believe that high-end designer bags will soon no longer be a symbol of wealth or luxury. I honestly rather spend the money towards buying stocks, crypto, real estate.... and turning money into more money rather than buying things that are pretty much common and nothing exclusive/special these days.

Also lets stop acting like fake bags *cause* child trafficking or whatever when they *may* (I say ‘May’ as not every fake bought funds terrorism or trafficking) be interlinked. Fakes don’t cause these things, these crimes would still happen, even if Jane didn’t buy that fake Gucci handbag. Maybe instead we need to focus on why child trafficking, terrorism is rife instead of blaming Jane???
Absolutely no one said that, not even the journalists who document it. It is not the cause, it is the support system. The replica industry helps fund it and pointing to other funnels of cash into it don't justify it. I thought whataboutism is for americans.

Cutting cash flow sure would help to slow it but Jane must impress people she does not know with her fake Gucci, so ample justification is abound 😂. I've never cared for conspicuous consumerism, I think it's vulgar and could never justify possibly aiding crimes against humanity to show off for strangers but that's just me. 🤷‍♂️

yeah I agree with you, if I see something out of my budget, I accept it’s not for me and forget about it. I would never put myself in debt or empty my savings for an item, it’s never worth it. Unfortunately social media influences people to purchase things out of their budget, which can lead down a dangerous path such as debt, loans, and even crime.

I’ve not heard of the term house poor, so thank you for mentioning, but I can see why this would be a harmful and toxic behaviour pattern to fall into. It reminds me of the saying “buying things you can’t afford, to impress people you don’t like”

I don’t owe throw away fakes. I own 1:1 replicas which are made with the same craftsmanship as an authentic bag. I also have authentic bags and near enough every single one of my replica bags trumps the quality of the authentic. I don’t think people realise these aren’t knock offs from a market in Dubai, these are seriously skilled people making 1:1 copies.

I’m not talking about market stall fake Gucci handbags. When you buy authentic, you aren’t paying for better construction or materials or labour, you’re paying for marketing and this ‘aspirational brand’. Super fakes are constructed in the same way, for example a Chanel CF and one bought from a top tier factory are 1;1.

These bags are bought directly from sellers in China who work closely with factories. Yes we don’t know the conditions of the factories or who they fund but we can say the exact same for brands like Chanel and LVMH. You could even argue that a more significant cut of the profit from the $600 paid for a super fake is more likely to be split with the sellers and labourers compared to$5000 lining an ~unethical millionaires pocket who are also exploiting people to make billions of pounds. Here’s some articles to read: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/...workers-who-assemble-designer-bags-in-tuscany

Another:https://www.thefashionlaw.com/the-less-than-transparent-realities-behind-made-in-italy-fashion/

Brands like Coach, Michael Kors, Anya Hindmarch, Tory Burch are also made in factories in China. Other brands near enough fully construct the bag in China then send over to Italy or France for minor details to get that ‘Made in France’ stamp. Chanel is allowed to raise its prices every year to keep it ‘exclusive’. Brands like Chanel burn excess stock to keep the brand ‘exclusive’.

I appreciate it’s a hard pill to swallow when you’ve had the idea of owning designer goods as something to feel proud of as you’ve worked hard for it. I get it, I used to buy authentic (sometimes still do) until I found out about how super fakes work.

Designer goods were made to separate the rich from the poor, they’re known as a marker of status and however most of us try to deny this isn’t what we buy designer clobber for - it literally is. As a society, we put designer clothes and accessories on a pedestal. It’s capitalism at its finest! When people say ‘if you don’t have the money don’t buy it!!!’ Its really condescending and sounds like you’re saying that people with less money than you aren’t allowed to have what you have. This also ignores the fact that many rich people also buy super fakes.
I guess it’s difficult as fakes/reps cover a broad market.
I can see arguments for both - why you could buy legit vs why you can buy fake.

I guess for me - after reading this thread so far and my initial thoughts of being like ‘whaaaat how have I missed so much!’ is that for me, I won’t change how I shop.
I don’t know if i could live not being entirely sure where the bag came from no matter how authentic it is.

I understand that the authentic is not as pristine in terms of how/where it’s made but I’d rather in know that than be completely unsure!

this is really eye opening though and thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. As naive as it is, I had no idea the sales of fake goods supported terrorist groups.

Haha shows how much I know! They were all raving about the hardware saying it’s so spot on but obviously not if it’s that easy to spot.

View attachment 383480
you also mentioned the real one was bought in 2009. If that’s the case, it should be made with real gold, and if I zoom in, I think I can see the gold stamping on the lock, on the right bag. The fake one doesn’t have this, hence why I could tell quite easily

although obviously this wouldn’t be a distinguishing point if both bags weren’t together. Just something I picked up on in the image!

I love a site called Luxury Promise who does 2nd hand designer bags (everything from Hermes/Chanel to Louis Vuitton, Dior etc). Mostly it's just me swooning at their Instagram stories but I did get a lovely LV bag which had always been my dream.

Still my dream to save and go into LV to buy a bag new though which I may plan for this year 😍
I’m actually so excited for you, nothing like going into the store to buy your first bag it’s an experience you won’t forget 🤗

There’s an Instagram page called the_postman_hates_me - she used to share a lot about reps but not as much anymore but she does promote three or so sellers that have set up websites for her followers to buy reps from. Personally I do enjoy the feeling of saving up and buying something I really wanted, mainly handbags but I can see the appeal of reps for things that are trendy in the moment especially with how fast fashion is changing at the minute.

In the rare case you do get a fake bag, Vestaire offer a full refund.

also I don’t get your argument? You’re too worried to buy a secondhand bag in the rare case it is fake, so you prefer to buy a fake one yourself anyway? 😂
I’m not really providing an argument, I’m literally saying I wouldn’t buy off a resale site because I’d rather not end up with a replica when spending in the thousands (many don’t even know their authentic bags are replicas), so I’d just rather buy the rep. It’s my opinion and choice, not an ‘argument’. I couldn’t care less if other people choose to buy off resale sites, I’m not really trying to convince anyone otherwise.

I didn't assume anything. I simply said 'I wonder' because of my personal experience knowing people this this. There has been some very snobby comments. I couldn't care less who buys fakes and who doesn't and neither should anyone else

It is, meaning it's a big huuuge topic which makes an interesting thread on it's own since it goes past designer bags.
I don't judge them either, I have been judged by those people for owning a Primark rather than a Prada though
No one here judged you for owning a primark bag, because it is authentic and genuine. The whole issue was about fake designer bags, how they’re unethical and the crimes they help fund.

Stop letting your own personal experiences influence the way you see people on this thread (aka snobby bitches who get ‘mummy and daddy’ to buy them designer bags).

Finally, terrorism and similar crimes do not go “way past designer bags”, there is a direct, causal link between them. I’ve attached an article that shows counterfeit goods represent 10% of world trade (between $250-500 billion) - more than drugs and prostitution combined. And if you read the report, it gives many examples of how fake bags directly caused terrorists to purchase weapons for crimes. I’ve attached one page of the article.
