I love a site called Luxury Promise who does 2nd hand designer bags (everything from Hermes/Chanel to Louis Vuitton, Dior etc). Mostly it's just me swooning at their Instagram stories but I did get a lovely LV bag which had always been my dream.

Still my dream to save and go into LV to buy a bag new though which I may plan for this year

Not sure where you live but I travelled to London to buy my LV and went to their store on Bond Street. The customer service is the best I’ve ever received. Give you time to sit with a drink, bring products to you so you can compare them if deciding between a couple and they take you to a separate and more private area to pay. On one occasion I purchased a passport cover and was treated exactly the same spending £150 as I did when I was spending £850. Wonderful service

No, my answer would be the exact same because I don’t know why people are so bothered and feel like they’re so entitled to know whether someone’s bag is real or fake? It has nothing to do with you or anyone else

I just love how every single person who buys fakes comes on and deliberately ignores the actual valid criticism of replicas, and uses the same old tired non-arguments to try and defend themselves. The cognitive dissonance is staggering.

Also a piece of Advice for all y'all who want a designer bag but can't afford it. There are a lot of designer brands that have sales (usually in May-July and again in December). I've seen some amazing deals for up to 50% off and these are on the official websites too. The brands I have seen having these sales include: YSL, Versace, Balenciaga, Balmain, Burberry and Ferragamo. Websites such as FarFetch, MyTheresa and Ssense also have sales with pretty good deals. Gucci and some other brands also have outlet stores with a decent % off on their bags. Just save up and buy 1 real good quality bag, 1 pair of heels, 1 pair of sneakers, a scarf, belt and jewellery (i.e. create a capsule collection), no need to buy/hoard a bunch of useless crap like a lot of influencers do (most use these fakes BTW).

I had some Vivienne Westwood shoes and the bow fell off. Took them back and they gave me a brand new pair. Excellent customer service. Vivienne Westwood has always been my go to designer wise, it’s more affordable for me but definitely that bit of luxury. The handbags are perfect for me.

They are reputable sites? There are literally so many cases of bags on Vestaire Collective, the Real Real, let alone eBay and Facebook. Authenticators with years of training literally can’t tell some super fakes from an authentic bag because they are such close copies.

I’ve never cared what people buy tbh, didn’t realise buying fakes offended people that much. I wouldn’t but I couldn’t care less if others did. What I would consider buying though is fake Nike shoes etc. Brands that aren’t as big. When nike releases Jordan’s for example, they sell out in seconds because resellers buy them to sell them for 3x the price. I’ve heard the fakes are way better from YouTube comparisons and I’m not paying a selfish reseller £500 for shoes that are meant to be £100

The fake is not offensive, it's the terrorism, human trafficking and pedophile rings the fake sales fund that is offensive.

Edit; Anyone purchasing fake goods, regardless of quality, is complicit in the crimes they fund. Never rail against human trafficking if you own a fake, it would be hypocritical, as you were no less than a donor, a supporter, given it is now common knowledge that the replica market funds those activities.

Well everyone will know it's fake not based on the look of it but based on how it doesn't match their lifestyle/car/house...

Same goes for the Cartier LOVE bracelet my friend and I knew this girl who would constantly flex on social media all her luxury items from the past year and we added up the total and it was about $35-40k, funny how she works as a personal trainer and has a salary of $25k... but flexes her "Cartier" bracelet in almost every Insta story. I know this sounds rude but IDC if you gonna flex like that and act like you better then everyone when it's obvious it's way beyond your means, prepare to be judged.

Totally agree. It’s all to look rich hence why they go for those brands, what’s wrong with a nice bracelet that’s within your budget? And the whole purpose of a love bracelet is for someone to buy it for you as a symbol of love no? Mine are anyway. Why would you go out and by yourself a fake

What I spotted straight away was the chain that runs along the bag is on the wrong side of the chain that goes up to the shoulder. On the real bag on the left it runs in front of the chain whereas on the bag on the right it sits behind

you can change the direction of the chain by just pulling it through. I prefer to wear it in front, because of the way my bag sits against me. It sort of “sticks out” when the chain runs behind

Why are you so bothered what one chooses to do with their money? Ofc you can get the classic 'Chanel' or 'LV' bags but aside form that fashion constantly changes and if someone loves a designer bag and wants to pay for a decent fake then just let them... it will probably last 2 months which is the same amount of time it will be the 'new hot bag' in the teal designer world. Some people are so stuck up and rude. I wonder how many have actually had 'mummy and daddy' buy their designer bags - I know one too many people like this with the same attitude!

I always try to find dupes first, so like if PLT or Topshop are doing their own version.

If not then I use VOVA.. It's very good I recommend, you can only find the fakes on the app. The products have reviews so you can decide which one to go with and what it looks like. The more you pay the better the fake

It’s not a whole different topic though, is it? There are direct links between counterfeit designer goods, human trafficking and terrorism. It’s been said so many times on this thread and yet it’s a point either badly deflected or ignored.

Why do the defenders of fake bags keep trying to turn this into an issue of snobbery or jealousy from the posters who don’t approve of counterfeit goods? I’ll say it again - just admit you’d rather have a fake designer bag than worry about what crimes you might be funding with the money you paid for it.

I don’t have my “mummy and daddy” buying me anything but honestly, I would judge the people who’s parents bought them genuine designer goods far, far less than those who bought counterfeit goods knowing damn well that they’re helping to fund serious, violent crime.

I've got 2 designer bags, they are my rewards for working hard. I take them out on special occasions.

I've really gone of designer bags as every Tom, Dick and Harry has one. I went to a party once and everyone had a gucci bag. There was nothing special about it and they all looked like lemmings.

Slightly Off topic but still bag related. Has anyone been following the purseonfleek drama on YouTube?!

Long and short of it, this woman wanted a Birkin from Hermes so started a wish list. Spent a LOT of money in the meantime hoping it would get her further up the list, sent some insane emails (bordering on begging and hassling) to her SA in the meantime. Then she found out someone had been offered her dream bag before her and lost her shit.

Hermes Human Resources then called PurseonFleek saying she needed to readjust her behaviour and that SA wouldn’t be dealing with her anymore but she was welcome to their stores where other SA’s would help her.

I can’t stand the way Hermes make you prove your worth but after seeing the video (watch it quick whilst it’s still up!) I can understand why they cut her off. The emails are way too personal and bordering on obsessive, I gather she tried to use memorable occasions to get her bag but seriously? It’s just a bag at the end of the day. She had a choice to continue spending her money. I would have had a conversation early on giving Hermes a timeframe that I expect to get my bag if I was that desperate for it.

I feel slightly for her in that she’s being trolled but I think it’s been a good lesson for her. Being pushy and spending insane amounts of money doesn’t always get you ahead of everyone else!

I haven’t seen it but I just don’t get this Hermes thing where you need to build a relationship with an SA and buy loads of Hermes tat before getting a bag. I can see that it makes it more desirable but I can also see why you would get peed off. Also it could be the one thing someone wants, they save up to buy one but can’t as they have to buy other expensive things in the meantime. So this policy does exclude these people unless they get lucky. It’s a no from me.

Could you put 50 pounds aside each month or even 20 a month and you'll be able to get one in the future and you will feel like 1 million dollars when you are finally able to get it. There’s a lot of privilege showing on this thread. If you have enough disposable income to buy designer good for you but don’t get angry that people are getting the exact same thing for cheaper? In my home country in Africa I can tell loads of peoples stuff are fake because I live in the U.K. For them it’s normal bc they want to have luxury but can’t afford it... it’s their choice. Nobody judges anyone for it or cares. Not everyone is rich enough or likes to spend theousands on little leather bags... some people need to or simply put that money else where on more important things. I don’t know how that can make anyone THIS upset it literally doesn’t affect you. You’re most definitely consuming something really unethical elsewhere because that’s how capitalism works.

No its the fact people are claiming you can get the 'exact same thing for cheaper' when you absolutely can't, they're not made in the same factory, they're not made of the same material, i've literally spent days curiously looking through many reviews on that reddit forum and have only seen one rep which looks somewhat convincing, people even review how bad the smell is, so it's fine if you're happy with a plastic bag but just own it, don't try insiuating that people who invest in designer bags are wasting their money and missing a trick because that's not the reality.
