There are fake bags and replica bags (same goes for shoes and furniture). Fake times are exactly that ...faked to look like the real item ..badly faked or well faked.

Replica items fall into fake copies and some are technically allowed as they replicate a designer item without being an identical copy. For example there is a brand that does Hermes Birkin style think its called Teddy something? Can’t recall name - real good quality leather (Emma Anders on YouTube compared her replica Birkin with her real Birkin she bought a year or so later -great channel by the way).

I totally get wanting a dream bag but believe me it’s not worth spending money on fake or replica. They just aren’t the same and ultimately you know it’s not the real deal. Seriously set yourselves an account up for saving towards your dream bag and save pennies of you have to. The real luxe experience is going to a store (Eg New Bond Street in London) or whatever the equivalent is in your city and going with a friend or loved one, dressed up or whatever way that makes you feel glam! Shop for you bag enjoy the experience and go for lunch somewhere nice and not necessarily expensive. Tip don’t waste money on small leather goods! Wallets card cases etc out that all towards your dream bag! Been there done that and made mistakes! Even with real designer bags and preloved are great at designer handbag exchange or handbag clinic.

Chanel and Hermes which most people can’t afford anyway
Well everyone will know it's fake not based on the look of it but based on how it doesn't match their lifestyle/car/house...

Same goes for the Cartier LOVE bracelet my friend and I knew this girl who would constantly flex on social media all her luxury items from the past year and we added up the total and it was about $35-40k, funny how she works as a personal trainer and has a salary of $25k... and drives a shitty car (doesn't even have leather seats) but flexes her "Cartier" bracelet in almost every Insta story. I know this sounds rude but IDC if you gonna flex like that and act like you better then everyone when it's obvious it's way beyond your means, prepare to be judged.

Also a side note: I knew these girls who were rich-rich came from millionaire families and owned boats (a proper one that has rooms inside). When I went shopping with her, she'd see an item she liked, pick it up and quickly put it down after seeing a logo on it. Rich people despise logo and branded things. People who constantly flex designer brands are wannabe rich anyways.

Wow. The snobbery on this thread

Human trafficking aside, that's a whole different topic for another thread and goes wayyyy beyond if someone has a Louis Vuitton or a Louis Gone-wrong.

Why are you so bothered what one chooses to do with their money? Ofc you can get the classic 'Chanel' or 'LV' bags but aside form that fashion constantly changes and if someone loves a designer bag and wants to pay for a decent fake then just let them... it will probably last 2 months which is the same amount of time it will be the 'new hot bag' in the teal designer world. Some people are so stuck up and rude. I wonder how many have actually had 'mummy and daddy' buy their designer bags - I know one too many people like this with the same attitude!

I always try to find dupes first, so like if PLT or Topshop are doing their own version.

If not then I use VOVA.. It's very good I recommend, you can only find the fakes on the app. The products have reviews so you can decide which one to go with and what it looks like. The more you pay the better the fake

Buy preloved or just buy something else.

Don’t buy A fake. What’s the point? Pretending to have dough when you don’t? Seems a bit silly to me.
People just want to own nice things that are way out there price range.
That being said I've found some cheap second hand real LV on Japanese sales websites. Preloved is definitely better than fake.
I just wouldn't risk it as there's too many scams and some fakes can get seized at border control anyway so it'd be money down the drain.

EDIT:

Just reading back. For those who said the thread should be deleted I disagree. The behinds of fakes and fast fashion are an important topic. Of course people are free to buy as they please but it's something that not everyone knows about and this thread raises more awareness to those topics.

Also you're not getting “the exact same for cheaper”, I don’t know who you’re fooling 😂 stop trying to convince yourself
Just sounds salty tbh, most people can’t tell them apart, they look the same. Quality isn’t but they LOOK the same. Money buys quality. That’s literally common sense. I’ve never owned a fake but what a first world problem to be spiteful that u spent £3000 on a little bag and someone else didn’t lmao. It’s literally just a bag. Wild that this thread was made because people innocently wanted to discuss finding replicas and others swarmed in on their high horses because apparently these designer brands are completely ethical themselves right?

Another thing worth a mention, is the actual purchase! Going to a luxury store and making the purchase is an experience in itself- being taken to a little room to pay whilst your bag is inspected and wrapped whilst you sip on sparking wine (gucci) or whatever else they offer, is exhilarating!

I buy dupes from Primark haha (like the dupe ugg slippers) but I don't know how I feel about buying 'replicas' because I don't know what I'm funding. It's the same story with cigarettes, I often get offered to buy dodgy smokes from my neighbours, but I worry that I could be funding human trafficking, terrorism etc. If people feel I'm being dramatic, think about those 39 migrants found dead in the back of a lorry in Essex. It came out that the criminal smugglers made their money by selling dodgy cigarettes and fakes in addition to the smuggling of human beings.

I understand that there is supply chain problems with Primark, Boohoo and whatnot. But knowingly funding criminality disturbs me.

Neverfull is one of my oldest bags I used it for a long time day to day when I was younger and now use it as a gym bag and I know why it’s called the neverfull. It feels flimsy but it will last you a lifetime 👌 I’m confident the same can’t be said for a replica 😉 invest your money in a real one it will be worth it.

All resale sites have replicas being sold as authentic, there are hundreds of cases where this has happened and still happens. I’m not parting with 1k for a bag that is potentially a replica when I can just buy the replica straight up for a lot less
then buy from reputable sites. Vestaire collective checks the authenticity of your item very rigorously before it’s even sent to you. And they check that the item matches the description in terms of wear and tear etc.

Not sure if I’ve misunderstood but are ya’ll really claiming that fake and genuine bags are made in the same factories? I guess you think some of your fake bags are possibly a genuine that fell of the belt too? Sounds like something replica manufacturers have made up themselves to me. Just like they claim their replicas are ‘identical’ to the real thing which they NEVER are.

Hi all. Just found this thread.. I've not purchased a bag but I have purchased a load of fake clothes and accessories from TaoBao after having a friend fill me in on how she manages to constantly have pricey clothes and accessories whilst not earning a massive salary lol..

The bits are all v good quality, process was fairly easy, basically copy and pasting the link to the item from taobao into superbuy (shipping agent) and then superbuy sends you photos of the item once it arrives in their China warehouse, you check the item meets your needs and then you tell them to ship it over. They declare the value of items as like $12 for customs purposes (have to pay import tax on anything above like $20 usd or something).

It arrived within a week-10 days ish, mostly decent stuff, even comes in original packaging etc. Most the stuff on TaoBao has reviews too similar to amazon so you can weed out the shit stuff. Learning how to reverse image search on tb is key too!!

Happy to answer any q's here or pm me!

Not sure why the top rated posts on here are all people on their high horse about a few people buying knock-offs. I know rich people and poor people who buy fakes, so often its not a case of 'you cant afford the real thing' I think they're having the last laugh because quite often these days the real designer items aren't worth anywhere close to what they charge for them!

And I know people like to talk about 'you don't know the factory conditions where they make these fakes' etc.. I hope you buy all locally sourced organic ethical fairtrade food and meat that isn't from a factory farm and trainers that weren't made by a child in India for 50p etc. There's likely just as much shadiness in the replica designer world as there is in any widely known low-end clothing manufacturing etc

X

Edit: in fact PM me if you have questions or wanna talk replicas lol.. I had a read of the rest of this thread and I think some people really have their backs up about others' choices to buy fake stuff so I won't be revisiting. People get v upset about a couple bracelets and some leather bags ffs. Relax x

Aside from being illegal, this is immoral. I don't know why this thread is allowed.

It's Teddy Blake and they blatantly rip off Hermes. It's disgusting.

Agreed. This thread needs to be shut down ASAP.
I actually think the thread should be kept up - I started reading this on the Molly mae thread, obvs felt sad that I’ve spent many a £££ on legit designer, then read here and realised that actually it’s all not what it seems.

So I do think it’s good to have this here and point out why these things are illegal and immoral if you catch my drift.
I had no idea m!

You could pay £2000 believing you’re buying a genuine LV, when it’s actually an extremely well made counterfeit. But it’s still a fake.

For me personally if the real thing isn’t attainable like a Hermes Birkin or even electrum, or a Chanel classic then I’ll go without I wouldn’t even buy a dupe from new look or wherever.

slight derail- but has anyone had bad experience with premium brands? I’ll NEVER purchase a mulberry bag after their studded straps on the Theresa bag stretched it become unusable, they wanted me to pay for a new strap within 12m of owning it.
The strap of my Gucci Soho Disco snapped in the middle of Oxford St one day. They said I was ‘overloading’ the bag even though I only had my phone, keys and cardholder in it. They wouldn’t fix it for free despite only owning it for 4 months. Never again!

Hermes is ridiculous and the carry on you have to go through to aquire a bag is pathetic.
You can buy their bags in almost perfect condition from specialist retailers and you don't need to resort to begging some sales assistant to get you on a list.

Even if I was loaded, I wouldnt be wanting an hermes bag direct. They aren't that special ffs

I don’t owe throw away fakes. I own 1:1 replicas which are made with the same craftsmanship as an authentic bag. I also have authentic bags and near enough every single one of my replica bags trumps the quality of the authentic. I don’t think people realise these aren’t knock offs from a market in Dubai, these are seriously skilled people making 1:1 copies.

I’m not talking about market stall fake Gucci handbags. When you buy authentic, you aren’t paying for better construction or materials or labour, you’re paying for marketing and this ‘aspirational brand’. Super fakes are constructed in the same way, for example a Chanel CF and one bought from a top tier factory are 1;1.

These bags are bought directly from sellers in China who work closely with factories. Yes we don’t know the conditions of the factories or who they fund but we can say the exact same for brands like Chanel and LVMH. You could even argue that a more significant cut of the profit from the $600 paid for a super fake is more likely to be split with the sellers and labourers compared to$5000 lining an ~unethical millionaires pocket who are also exploiting people to make billions of pounds. Here’s some articles to read: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/...workers-who-assemble-designer-bags-in-tuscany

Another:https://www.thefashionlaw.com/the-less-than-transparent-realities-behind-made-in-italy-fashion/

Brands like Coach, Michael Kors, Anya Hindmarch, Tory Burch are also made in factories in China. Other brands near enough fully construct the bag in China then send over to Italy or France for minor details to get that ‘Made in France’ stamp. Chanel is allowed to raise its prices every year to keep it ‘exclusive’. Brands like Chanel burn excess stock to keep the brand ‘exclusive’.

I appreciate it’s a hard pill to swallow when you’ve had the idea of owning designer goods as something to feel proud of as you’ve worked hard for it. I get it, I used to buy authentic (sometimes still do) until I found out about how super fakes work.

Designer goods were made to separate the rich from the poor, they’re known as a marker of status and however most of us try to deny this isn’t what we buy designer clobber for - it literally is. As a society, we put designer clothes and accessories on a pedestal. It’s capitalism at its finest! When people say ‘if you don’t have the money don’t buy it!!!’ Its really condescending and sounds like you’re saying that people with less money than you aren’t allowed to have what you have. This also ignores the fact that many rich people also buy super fakes.
There’s no such thing as a 1:1 replica, if there is then post the photos of yours, I’ve looked through loads of photos on reddit with 9+* reviews and in my eyes you can tell they’re a fake.

Came here for a nosy after reading MM thread and glad to see people share the same opinion as me.

It’s one thing saving up for a £700 Louis Vuitton bag and another thing saving up for a £3000 Chanel.
I earn £20k a year so there’s no way I could afford that Chanel when I’m paying my mortgage etc. I’ve wanted one since I was 15. Ain’t gonna happen. Will I get a fake? I’m not sure yet.
Same for me I’ve wanted a Chanel for years and it will be a long time before I can get one, but will you ever have the same satisfaction buying a cheap knock off? Most likely not.

If you’re not going to buy authentic...why not buy second hand? The pre loved market is huge, and you can get really good deals, close to the price of buying a “grade A fake”??
All resale sites have replicas being sold as authentic, there are hundreds of cases where this has happened and still happens. I’m not parting with 1k for a bag that is potentially a replica when I can just buy the replica straight up for a lot less

I wouldn’t judge anyone who has a primark or other high street bag even if it was a dupe/in the style of a designer bag, at least you are owning it and not pretending it’s something that it isn’t.

Your assumptions are hilarious. Personally I’ve never had mummy and daddy buy me anything, I’ve worked for whatever I’ve wanted. It’s not about snobbery at all and what’s quite funny on this thread is actually that those buying the fakes seem to think they are somehow better than those who buy genuine because they are getting ‘the same thing’ for less and we who buy genuine are the stupid ones because we pay more 🤷‍♀️ I don’t buy into latest trends, most of my bags I see as investments that will grow with me and last for years to come.
