I haven't ever looked at their patreon before but gosh £50 grand a month no wonder S has become such a twit.

I miss the days when they would rattle through everyone's names at the of the pod. There seemed much more down to earth or at least hid it well.

I had to listen to the murdogh murders ep twice because it was such a struggle to follow but I put it down to me listening whilst working but after reading all these comment I think it's because they were being lazy with it.

It's too big of a case to cover in one episode. The whole thing was a blatant cash grab and, in my opinion, particularly exploitative given the ongoing nature of the case.
True crime podcasts will always be jarring for victim's families, I'm sure, but it has to be worse when the perpetrator hasn't even been sentenced.

I always find episodes written by Hannah particularly hard to follow.

omg I thought it was just me, I could not figure out what they were going on about. I don’t really have any interest in watching the Netflix doc so I thought this would be an easier digestible version. I was wrong!

I’m a fairly new listener, and have binged all the episodes that interest me in the last few months.

Interesting to see everyone’s comments on H&S…sometimes I struggle with them.
Firstly, sometimes I think they must have a word quota to fulfil every episode, because they say duck like their lives depend on it - and it must be excessive if I’ve picked up on it 🤣
I’ve noticed a few more chuckles and insensitive comments at bizarre times recently too.
Also really annoyed me that they used to use the term ‘child pornography’ when there is no such thing, but they seem to have stopped that now in the more recent episodes, and I wonder if maybe because I have listened out of timeline it was just a case of know better, do better.
I don’t think they always do the cases justice and don’t always dive in as much as they could - more of their episodes should be 2 parts.
They are a good match for me overall though, because I am a total wimp, but can listen to the episodes without losing sleep.

I've just listened to the recent silk road episode.
A fantastic chance for unwoke Suru to showcase her libertarian views. Cheering on the dread Pirate Roberts and mocking the law enforcement officers that took the site down.
The silk road allowed the sale of literally every drug as well as guns and false identities. I'm pretty sure they also allowed the sale of poisons.
The whole thing was an oversimplification of the case and a chance for Suruthi to subtly brag about her drug taking like a teenager.

I’m so glad there’s a thread for red handed! I used to really like it, however always found Hannah to be an annoying know it all, if something niche came up in one of the cases she would of course have done it herself, or know someone who was an expert in it. I never minded suruthi but I haven’t listened properly in a while so I can’t comment on the ‘woke’ stuff as I never heard her say it.

It’s definitely passed it’s best now, it annoys me when they don’t do ‘true crime’ cases when it’s a true crime podcast - wtf was the Rasputin episode all about?!

Why do they call him ACDFace? Who cares who Suru is dating? She has a very high opinion of herself. I agree with PP, it is very gross how they constantly brag about holidays when it is all paid for by listeners. And a second property in London?!

When she was dating Hannah used to give the guys nicknames based on the info Suruthi shared about them on Under the Duvet. I think his is something to do with him working in film.
They absolutely have high opinions of themselves and think they are way more interesting than they are.
I have finally unsubbed from patreon.

Under the Duvet is just all about their personal lives and mindless drivel they watch on TV (no shame, watch what you like, but I am not interested in a full rundown of 90 day fiancé). Shorthand is boring.

The episodes aren't really good enough for me to pay to listen early and ad free. I can skip the ads.
I agree with a PP about the Rasputin episode. I didn't even listen as it felt like an A Level history lesson.
I regularly stop listening half way through now if I listen at all.

I agree I regularly stop listening half way through. They are on their down turn now unfortunately.

I do quite like short handed. They have done some topics I have found fairly interesting. I don't really like occulty episodes which they seem to be leaning into lately! I rarely finish a regular episode.

Yeah I find the occult stuff really boring 😴

The episodes Hannah writes are really hard to follow imo.

Does anyone remember when they did a full episode on the whitehouse farm murders. It was great! And then about a year later they did another episode on it for an advertisement. That was so random!
I hate the shorthand. I hate seeing in my feed, I wish I could unsubscribe from it.

New announcement this morning (I saw on instagram) they are joining Wondery. Shorthand will be a wondery exclusive show, redhanded won't change but you'll be able to listen ad free and a week early through the usual wondery process.
No mention of what will happen to UTD.... surely people won't subscribe to patreon just for that

That's a shame as I did like Shorthand. Obviously invented to bait people over to Wondery.

Not totally surprised to see a lot of backlash towards them going to Amazon/Wondery. It's really lost its appeal for me.

Cancelling my patreon today. Nothing to do with the Wondery stuff, just the decline in quality means it’s not worth it for me now.

I think getting rid of in the news was a bad move.

I like them in bursts. I’ll binge a few episodes but I can’t listen weekly. I wouldn’t buy merchandise or subscribe. I don’t listen to Sinister Societies as I think it should be just the same show. I don’t have any interest in Under The Duvet because they’re not characters that interest me.

Moving to a big network seems like a weird move after years of promoting themselves as the independent underdogs at the Podcast awards

Like all people in that kind of sphere they were match more interesting before they hit the mega bucks.
They've always lived a much more affluent life than me but similar to my friends so I did find them some what relatable but now...

Lots of negative feedback about it on their social medias

It's frustrating for patrons who have already paid out for this month, or even this year for this to be taken away. It happened with in the news too where people had paid in advance for it to then be removed

I think ultimately they are going the way of 90% of podcasts, starts out good but with success they get too stretched and the quality goes.

Their big mistakes, pr issues I think have all come from periods trying to squeeze out regular episodes, patreon bonuses, in the news, short handed, sinister societies, books, tours, under the duvet etc all simultaneously.

Of course fans of the "girls" will tell them to ignore the haters
