As requested in the true crime podcast thread - a place to discuss all things Redhanded.
---
I'll kick off by saying I am a patron by I'm hanging on by a thread. I'll probably cancel next month.

I just find Suruthi to be an unbelievably insufferable know it all. This week discussing the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank as if she's a government advisor.
I know she's an economics graduate but as far as I can tell she hasn't worked in that field at all since she graduated.... she just grinds my gears lately.

I'm finding I like Hannah a lot more lately, I used to love Suruthi but she seems to have changed lately.
I'd still love to go to one of the live shows, the chances of them coming to Oz seems unlikely though.

Also like Hannah more and used to like Suruthi but cannot deal with this whole ‘anti-woke’ better than everyone persona she has adopted.

Some ignorant comments she’s come out with to recently, the one that springs to mind most is saying she was buying a second London property to live in with ACDFace because she ‘doesn’t believe in renting’. Well that’s a very privileged thing to not be able to believe in, living in London 🙄

Hannah I like but does cringe me out at times, most recently when she told the crystal ball in the sun story as though it was about her friend when it’s a pretty well known meme 🫠

I think Hannah took notice of how much negative feedback she was getting towards the end of last year as she really seems to have calmed down recently and is more likeable. It’s not enough for me to reinstate my Patreon though, especially with Suruthis new personality.

As a podcast they have absolutely smashed it. I really used to like them both. Started listening in lockdown and really loved it. I'm finding the crimes a bit crap now though. They did one the other week on the murtagh murders and basically told everyone to listen to another podcast which has all the info. So why are you covering it then girls?! I know they have been preparing for the tour but the last few months the podcasts have been tit.

Oh my god I know, they referenced that podcast so much and basically said it was too much to put in one episode.
They are doing more reactive cases now and it feels a bit like they are just capitalising on people's ongoing trauma.
I know there's an argument for that with all true crime stuff but churning out a podcast just for the sake of it feels especially bad taste.

I started listening in lockdown too and was impressed by the quality at the time. It's definitely gone downhill as they have been more successful.

Same for me. I think one of the things I really liked was that they often covered cases I’d never heard of. Like really random stuff in random places so it was all fresh but now sometimes it feels like a bit of a cash grab with cases which are very much in the news.

Do they still do Sinister Societies? I tried to like it and in theory should have as I enjoy learning about cults and stuff and loved Stephanie Harlowes deep dives on them but couldn’t get in to it.

I’m a patreon too but recently down graded to the cheaper option, considering cancelling too. I just don’t think the episodes are as good anymore. Partly that’s not their fault as they’ve done so many episodes and covered so many cases. It must be tough to find ones meaty enough to make a hour long episode on. But they seem to be too busy doing other things like sinister societies (which they’ve now stopped), short handed, the book etc. I think they’d be better focusing back on Redhanded and improving that content.

I used to love redhanded when it first came out, but I think the more popular they have become the more insufferable they are. As a PP said I enjoyed the cases as they were unusual ones, now they just seem to do whatever case is relevant at the moment. Plus shorthand is a bit bleugh. Would rather a more detailed redhanded episode once a week.

They don't take any criticism on board, such as the comment about the Hillsborough disaster.

They manage to shoehorn in most episodes about all the holidays/trips they have been on. (I probably sound like jealous witch but I haven't been on a holiday in years)

Their absolute hatred and mocking of the police infuriates me as well. Yes, they do get it wrong, but when you are looking back on a case with all the extra Information and evidence, its likely sonething would have been done differently. I often want to say to them to join the MET as specials and see what is is actually like, and be voice for change if they feel it is needed.

Bah. I'm tired and grumpy.

Is it even an episode of RH unless one of them harps on about a trip they went on, or something amazing they have done, or some other unrelated piece of information that no one else is bothered about but they like a humble brag. Honestly I don't know why anyone pays for their patreon, they are crap!

Does anyone own any spooky witch merch?
I have a hoodie I bought in 2020 but it hasn’t held up too well to washing and I feel I can only wear it in the house bc of the fact it’s a swear word haha.

I am considering cancelling my patreon but I do sometimes enjoy under the duvet (less and less so as suruthi dives more into being a raging Tory)

I stopped listening quite a while ago because I really went off them. But when I tried to dip back in , they didn't have many podcasts I was interested in . Shame really. I did want merchandise but it was so costly

I used to really be excited for this pod every week but not so much in the last year. Which is a shame as it was brilliant in the beginning.

I discovered them in lockdown and binged it, absolutely loved it. Now I just find them annoying for all the reasons mentioned. The constant bragging about holidays etc feels tone deaf when people are struggling and they make their money from other people via Patreon. They get things wrong quite a lot too and while that didn’t seem to matter so much when they started out, they are now ‘professional’ and should really fact check more often.

In the early days they did a fact check fairy thing where they would pop in to correct errors. They seem to have given up on that now. It's just arrogance really

I feel like they’ve really run out of cases which is always an issue long running TC podcasts have but the stuff they’re picking lately is not to my taste.

I enjoyed the Scott Peterson eps but also found they were biased throughout which annoys me. Like I’d prefer them to present the case factually and then give their opinions aim all the evidence at the end. Always saying you can’t take anything from how a person reacts after a trauma but then saying the way in which everything Scott Peterson said made it obvious he was guilty… which is it? (I do lean that he’s guilty too but even so.)

Going to say straight off I do not understand how people call them progressive when S now proudly says she is anti woke. My brain can’t grasp that.

That aside, I listened from day one until the constant politic, anti religion, anti American diatribe got too much. I am none of those but I don’t want my true crime podcast full of irrelevant personal opinions and all the dating crap.

Throw into the mix the book, the merch pushing.

The Patreon subscriptions are slowly reducing, some anti posts on Reddit about the latest money grabbing tour. Bashing of religion and talking about child murder and abuse, whilst laughing, has probably undone a few more supporters.

They bandwagon jump, just like Going West, that’s what keeps the downloads growing.

Its incredibly rare for indi podcasts to rise as fast as they did.

S was the brains, H was, and is, the drunken sidekick no one wants but serve a purpose, making S look good.

They are the next Morbid.
