I was pretty appalled to hear them refer to lung cancer caused by asbestos (mesothelioma) as being 'so 1980s' and tittering away at their comment. It didn't feel very 1980s when the most wonderful, caring man died in my arms from it last year.
Suruthi's ever increasing slide to the right smacks of a girl parroting her new (ish) man's opinions. She's starting to sound like Piers Morgan.
I know Hannah can be a bit 'gap yah' cringe at times but she comes off to me as quite vulnerable. Whilst she fundamentally disagrees with a lot of Suruthi's opinions, I feel she has lost her confidence to counter argue as Suruthi is incredibly articulate.. but also aggressive in her rants and doesn't give any openers for debate. Must be nice to be so convinced you're right all the time.

These days Redhanded feels less crime podcast, more social / political history lecture. I'm really turned off by it all. I was an avid listener for years but I struggle to listen to one episode a month at this rate as it's all so braggy and lecturey (made up word )

As a podcast they have absolutely smashed it. I really used to like them both. Started listening in lockdown and really loved it. I'm finding the crimes a bit crap now though. They did one the other week on the murtagh murders and basically told everyone to listen to another podcast which has all the info. So why are you covering it then girls?! I know they have been preparing for the tour but the last few months the podcasts have been shit.

They were insufferably smug from the get go, lots of making fun of aesthetics and ideas they deemed as cringe.

Hannah in particular sounded like one of those girls you meet whilst travelling who spend a month in Thailand do all the drugs and suddenly know everything about everything and want to share it with you in loud detail. She has quietened down a bit for which I’m ever grateful. Suru always came across as an undercover my shit don’t stink bitch so no surprise she has leaned into that more openly.

They have just changed what they find cringe and kept the smug, new found money and success will do that to the most humble of people and neither of these two were humble to begin with.

I discovered them in lockdown and binged it, absolutely loved it. Now I just find them annoying for all the reasons mentioned. The constant bragging about holidays etc feels tone deaf when people are struggling and they make their money from other people via Patreon. They get things wrong quite a lot too and while that didn’t seem to matter so much when they started out, they are now ‘professional’ and should really fact check more often.

In the early days they did a fact check fairy thing where they would pop in to correct errors. They seem to have given up on that now. It's just arrogance really

I am listening to the Lynette Dawson eps atm, just while I get ready so not finished yet but I find it odd the way they are just like ‘oh if you want a real overview go listen to teachers per’ every few minutes.


Like why do the case if you’re going to acknowledge that you’re just doing a lazy whistle stop overview and we should go elsewhere for the actual details 🫠

I'll kick off by saying I am a patron by I'm hanging on by a thread. I'll probably cancel next month.

I just find Suruthi to be an unbelievably insufferable know it all. This week discussing the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank as if she's a government advisor.
I know she's an economics graduate but as far as I can tell she hasn't worked in that field at all since she graduated.... she just grinds my gears lately.

Listening to an episode from a few months ago, and the majority of it so far is just H and S talking about all the places they have been and travelled. They just come across as extremely privileged and not relatable. Compared to seeing red with Mark and Bethan. It's not as polished but the two of them are so much more likeable. I think I'd enjoy going down the pub and chatting with them, whilst avoiding H and S who would be one upping everyone else and talking down to them. They used to be one of my top 3 podcasts as well.

First time Ive noticed this thread.

I was a patreon, bought the merch, went to the live shows. Thought initially they were authentic and relatable.

Suruthi in particular started to grate on me and the Hillsborough thing tipped me over the edge. I cancelled my Patreon then because I found the opinion so classist and ill informed and the doubling down and flouncing off the FB group was icky.

I feel like Suru has gone completely 180 on her views. Hard to know if how she came across initially was all a front or she is being brain washed by the fella.

I have listened but WTF. I know someone who died from it very recently too.

Suruthi is very articulate but she is also an incredibly arrogant pseudointellectual.
She sounds well read but in reality she just reads the news online like the rest of us and then does her best to regurgitate it on her podcast.

People don't tune into true crime podcasts to hear social commentary or political takes. Especially incorrect ones.
She has variously been so LOUD, CONFIDENT AND WRONG about aspects of US culture and life in Iran to the point where I've had to stop listening. I'm sure there are other things but those are two examples that I happen to know a lot about.

The biggest indicator that she's actually really ignorant is her unbelievably comment about Hillsborough. I'm sorry but if you didn't know the reality of that situation and you grew up in the UK in the 90s and 00s, you are not as well informed as you present yourself to be.

Hannah is clearly so insecure and I think she allows herself to be overshadowed and dominated by Suruthi who I'm sure rules with an iron fist as the "brains" of the outfit.

I found the Brexit discussion recently very revealing in that Hannah said she disagreed but didn’t want to get into it - it seems like S would now be very hard to have these discussions with. I don’t like to reduce her down to parroting her partner but it does all seem very coincidental that she has changed her views in line with the relationship happening…

I think it was in UTD last year when S was saying how if there was another vote she would vote to leave, and I just thought fuck you and cancelled my subscription. People had their reasons for voting leave, which I disagree with, but given how badly it has gone and negatively affected so many, and how it's impacting peace in Northern Ireland, I just really thought fuck you. Nothing but a smug self interested twat.

Reading Penance (fictional true crime type story) and it basically has these little bits that are podcasters talking about the case (seems like the author has actually listened to TC podcasts to get the script and point out how they are kind of immoral in some ways in the way they talk about these crimes). As soon as I read this I immediately thought, they’ve based this on RH it’s set in the UK too so would actually make sense.

This was my top podcast a few years ago but like others I’m now finding it isn’t as good. Put on an episode this morning where they’ve joined with another podcast Wine & Crime and I had to give up after 15 minutes. Loud, shouty Americans and hardly any mention of the case they’re covering.
I love true crime so recommendations for good podcasts welcome. I’ll check out Seeing Red.

And it highlighted how many women and children were locked up with their abuser. Lockdown in the UK was awful for anyone remotely vulnerable.
I think we've had 4 high profile cases of children locked up with their abuser and died with the lockdown being a contributing factor.
Lockdown in the UK wasn't sorting out drawers, watching tiger King and making banana bread for millions of people. Sarah was definitely a casualty of the lockdown.

Suruthi these days comes across as a complete pick me kind of girl.

I think this is most evident in the description of Lucy Letbys bedroom in the recent episode - such over the top views about decor that it’s likely a ton of their listeners have (just cos you like true crime doesn’t make you immune to a live laugh love aesthetic), and not actually warranted when you see the picture of Letbys bedroom they were talking about.

By no means standing up for Letby btw - just found the whole segment so odd, to be that affronted by how her bedroom was.

I haven't ever looked at their patreon before but gosh £50 grand a month no wonder S has become such a twat.

I miss the days when they would rattle through everyone's names at the of the pod. There seemed much more down to earth or at least hid it well.

I had to listen to the murdogh murders ep twice because it was such a struggle to follow but I put it down to me listening whilst working but after reading all these comment I think it's because they were being lazy with it.

Left patreon after the Hillsborough debacle. In fact it was my post on the Facebook group that started the pile on which led to them flouncing from the group .
I loved the podcast at one point but really feel they got too greedy, made far too much content and the quality has crashed massively.

I really hate their encouragement of people to use multiple addresses to win the podcast awards. Maybe everyone does it but it doesn't seem right.
