I just wanted to add, HRT is recommended after cancer treatment for certain types of cancer in women. If it was the case that HRT specifically caused cancers there is no way they would recommend that to those that have already had treatment for cancer.

ETA: that is direct from an oncologist and specialist menopause clinic

Yes I love CBD oil i use it everyday, a mint infused one. It’s amazing for anxiety and sleep
Please could you add the link/information stating which cancers HRT helps as that could help women on this thread, many thanks.

I get it locally from a seller in NI! Where are you based? She is on instagram but I’m not sure I can post her handle on here 😩 I get 1000mg mint infused cbd oil…0% THC, it’s cbd isolate which is the purest form. This is on her page about the benefits re:menopause if you’d like to read

I did not say HRT helps certain cancers. I said that it is recommended for some women for certain types of cancer following treatment. HRT after cancer treatment is a very personal and individual thing, one which an oncologist would discuss with the patient. I shared that information to note that it’s not that HRT causes cancers in all cases, if that was the case they would never give HRT to someone that has already had cancer. HRT really benefits those that have entered menopause at a very young age.

A multivitamin with decent amount of B vitamins, Starflower/cod liver oil, Probiotic and Magnesium. Granted it’s not cheap but I shop around and buy when on sale. There are various forms/types of Magnesium, I take Magnesium Glycinate. Magnesium is important for heart health, bone health, blood pressure etc (lots online about its importance) it’s also depleted by stress and vitamin D. So if anyone is taking Vit D Magnesium is very important, it also regulates vitamin D. Vitamin B is good for MH issues. I also use Blissel gel if I have vaginal dryness, it‘s fairly new and a very low dose of Estriol.

I was suffering from tiredness, depression/stress/crying spells, panic attacks, palpitations, digestive issues, facial flushes and felt I was losing my mind. I appreciate what I take is not for everyone but it’s worked for me, I also try and exercise most days if only going for a brisk walk.
Hi iv been taking everything you have mentioned plus some others for several years now but each year that passes I’m struggling more especially this past year and I know in my self I’m needing something extra as it’s now effecting my work life 🫤

That‘s even better, hopefully she will give you advice and options that suit your medical history and any concerns.
Good luck for tomorrow x

If you’ve had your womb/ovaries removed, or gone through early menopause yes HRT replaces the oestrogen you can no longer make. As far as women who’ve had BC HRT is not advised, although a low dose of vaginal oestrogen can be prescribed if needed as it doesn’t carry the same risks.
As you say it’s down to the individual but like many medications HRT does come with risks, including some cancers.

I had a hysterectomy and as I’m still young I have a high dose HRT but Louise newson has some amazing podcasts full of info! I’ve found a lot of GPS are useless with knowing about hrt and hormones unless you fit into the category of just needing the standard normal levels of hrt and they can send you away with patches or tablets. I ended up paying private to speak to a hormone specialist who has been amazing testing my hormones and prescribing things to help!

As you’ve had a hysterectomy at a young age it makes sense to take HRT.
Dr Newson also has financial relationships with pharmaceutical companies and although I agree she has some good advice, it’s predominantly pro HRT, which some women can’t or don’t wish to take.
As I’ve said before the misery of the menopause for many women, is a big money maker for pharmaceutical companies, influencers and even the likes of Dr Newson who you have to pay to see privately, many women can’t afford to nor should they have to.

How do you know when you need HRT? I am nearly 48 and as far as I know have no menopausal symptoms as yet, I have insomnia but have always had that. I have a few friends my age who take HRT and think that i should be too. I don’t currently take the pill so get no hormones from this.
My mam was 58 when she went through the menopause but had peri symptoms from late 30s, suffered terrible anxiety etc and now has bladder issues that when she needs a wee she needs it now. I know my mam had HRT but only seemed to be prescribed it for a couple of years, probably wouldn’t have these symptoms if had taken it for longer.
If you‘re feeling okay and have no symptoms no need to do anything apart from enjoy being symptoms free.
Some women go through menopause without any, or many symptoms at all, you may be one of those fortunate ones. 🤞🏼

I couldn’t care less if a private specialist makes a profit from my misery- good! As long I feel better. I’m sick of wasting my time or money on GPs and other holistic practitioners who think yoga, seed cycling and wafting a bit of sage about my ovaries twice a month to exorcise the demons is going to help. The amount of money I’ve wasted this year on shite that’s supposed to help and did absolutely nothing. Nope. Take my money menopause expert and give me that HRT. My hormones have always been fucked and I’ve always been sensitive to them in extreme ways so I suspected menopause would be a beast for me but I must admit when I passed 35 I thought I’d missed the early menopause that plagued my mother, but clearly not. I can not WAIT to go on HRT. I have zero quality of life and can barely function. I don’t just feel like I’m suicidal at times, I feel like I’m dying… and I’ve actually been quite seriously ill a number of times but nothing has ever been as bad as this. So if I get a few tuts and shakes of the head from people who think I’ve been exploited and I just needed to exercise more and improve my sleep hygiene they can kiss my ass. You think I’ve not tried those things already?!!! 🤣

You may not but when she is a Director of 5 Companies and chooses not to list the profits, has financial relationships with pharmaceutical companies there are concerns for some at how non-bias her her advice is. I was in a Liz Earle menopause FB group year’s ago as a friend added me she thought it would be interesting and knew I liked Liz Earle’s books and products. We found out there was a sock puppet in that group pretending she was one of us, yet she had connections with Liz Earle to the point it could have been Liz Earle. The advice/information women were given was suspicious and at times concerning, she also had links to Dr Newson who joined the Group sporadically until someone questioned her financial relationships with pharmaceutical companies. In the end without going into detail because you’re not worth my time the group was shut down.
There is not one size fits all with the menopause and HRT doesn’t suit everyone, for some it’s wonderful, for others it doesn’t always work and for some it’s dangerous. One of my friends had a stroke and is no longer allowed to take it. It’s important women know what to look out for and arm themselves with as much reputable and scientific information as they can about it and making sure the nutrients that can be depleted by HRT and even the OC are replaced, as being low in nutrients can also cause problems/symptoms.
Also women should never assume all their symptoms are menopause related, I had hot flushes, palpitations and blood tests showed my thyroid levels were high.
I couldn't care less whether you go on HRT or not but what I don’t like is the fact some suggesting it’s the answer to all women’s menopause problems when it isn’t and one person belittling the FACT drinking alcohol when on HRT can increase your risk of BC when there is scientific/medical evidence to say otherwise! Also it mentions about reducing alcohol on the information leaflet given with HRT. Belittling the fact could put some women at risk of BC unnecessarily if they ignore the information and listen to a Tattler because she clearly thinks she knows better than medical world/scientists!

And now I will pop you on ignore RoseRazor as I have better things to do with my time than waste it on you 👋

For those who really do want help and advice on the menopause (some may even feel uncomfortable to raise their concerns on here), here’s a link for menopause help in the UK, it lists NHS and Private specialists.

Well this has taken a turn!

I like differing points of view. It’s good to have all angles.

I agree but those belittling medical advice can put women at risk unnecessarily and knocking people because they come with a different angle can put others off posting.
As for exercise and nutrition, whatever some might think it is important and can make a real difference to some.
Also making sure where possible your symptoms are because of the menopause and not something else.
Yes not all GP’s are great where the menopause is concerned but if women are knocking them purely because they won’t give you HRT, sometimes it’s because it’s not in your best interest health wise. HRT is a medication and the advice is if you go on it, go on the lowest dose you can, (patches seem safer than tablets at least where strokes/blood clots are concerned) and limit the amount of time you are on HRT as it does come with concerns.

Really you put a laughy emoji on my post which included information about HRT and alcohol being linked to BC and my friend having a stroke whilst on HRT. Imagine if I’d done that on your response about feeling suicidal, which I wouldn’t dream of doing. It really says it all about you!

My comments weren’t even directed at the individual, otherwise I would have @ them. But they can continue to rant. That’s what I found funny, calling me names and making wholly inaccurate statements about me to try and provoke- when I’ve not even engaged with them, once. Hormones eh? 😂

Of course they weren’t directed at me 🙄 as for trying to provoke, your response was after my comment about menopause and the private sector making a lot of money from many women’s misery but nice try. 😉
It’s seems you’re still ranting and if you’re going to keep commenting about me please show me where I called you any names? Unless of course you’re referring to me making a comment (not name calling) about your laughy emoji on my post (which was clearly directed at me) being inappropriate, which it was.
For your sake I hope HRT does work for you.

Clearly for some this group is more of a witch fest and others prefer to belittle scientific/medical evidence which could put women at unnecessary risk, not something I feel comfortable with.
I truly feel for the women that would like others input, as some (not just me) have been through hell and back with menopausal symptoms and have found ways to ease them including HRT and some symptoms are not due to menopause and need checking out, thank goodness in my case I did as having high thyroid levels is dangerous in itself.
Good luck in finding something that helps you ease the debilitating symptoms that many women go through at various stages of the menopause 👋 xx
