Oh yuk, like skag then. I'll stick with vaping weed. 😂 😵

At least there is access to cleaning products.

They can get a lot of channels especially if they’ve got a free view box which they can buy from their spends, but tbh even then if they have a tit aerial (which are like gold dust in my prison!) then it’s pretty useless lol
NPR is a good channel. (Imo) 👍😊
It's always annoyed me that you only get a handful of channels! 1-5 itv2, E4, film4, news channels etc.
One of the prisons I ended up in there were a few cells (or rooms as they were called) on the ones , that had doors that connected to the next cell. Why is that?
X.

If i was put in prison , I would keep doing stuff to be put in segregation. I can't imagine having to share space with loads of women. It would drive me mad. I would rather be segregated for the whole sentence with books and sleeping 😴 hahaha.

😂😂. It's really not that bad, it's not like you see on the U.S. docs where there's 100's of men, or women to a wing.
it's (depending on what type of wing) normally (about/average) 60 women over 2 landings. But each prison, wing, & type of wing is different.
If you landed at a prison that was mostly double cells just tell them you're racist, violent or something bad.... You'll get your own cell then. 😂.
only problem with purposely getting yourself put in seg is it goes on your files, IEP, etc.
inside they keep records of EVERYTHING you do, even down to telling a screw to f**k off after a row. 😮😂.
If you're doing a long sentence it could affect your future regarding rotls, parole etc.
but you may decide you like living on a rowdy wing with 30+ crazy azz women!? 😂😂. Xx.

I, I really don't think I could handle it at least the end of my shift I go home and have alone time. I had a night in the cells as a teen and it wasn't that bad I just slept and ate the food. It wasn't that bad , to not be able to withdraw from people would be my literal worst nightmare, I wouldn't be able to share the space so I guess I'd be going down for a long time.

See, I'm the opposite! I HATE the police station! When I've been denied bail & kept in until court...... (& knew I'd be locked up) I've actually looked forward to getting to the prison! 😂.
I love my own company, but don't mind being around others, but when I've had enough & ended up having a melt down.
luckily screws know what your 'triggers' are & majority are respectful & will calm you down & put you behind your door for some cooling down. I've been in a prison that had an animal sanctuary, & you could go see the animals, donkeys, birds, ducks, etc. 👍💕.
This may sound weird, but the longer the sentence, the better! As you get your head down & get stuck into your sentence. Your not thinking about outside the way you would on small sentences.

Worst thing is getting used to using the toilet in front of someone! 😂. Especially if you need to 💩! 😂😂. x.

The reason for limiting the amount of choc, fizzy drinks etc was because of how much they can store.

I was in for 10 months. Absolute poop hole.
@Ambrosie
Seems I've joined too late to the discussion! 😞.
Ive been inside, too. But luckily I got out before the lockdown.
I've seen it change a lot over the years. First in 2004, then last out 2019. x.

If there's a fire in a prison how do they evacuate it without everyone running loose?

I’m curious..as a prisoner, is there a schedule you have to stick to? And what’s the repercussions if you don’t? Say you didn’t want to get up out of bed one day (suffering from depression or similar), are you allowed to stay in your cell?

In 2005 a really mentally unwell woman had a psychotic break down in her cell & set fire to it, the fire brigade turned up & we were put behind our doors! Smoke was filling the wing & we had to suffer! We weren't taken outside to the exercise yard. I dread to think what would have happened if it spread!? X.

8am- ish unlock, call for meds etc, deal with apps, any problems etc,
9am-ish education or work,
12- lunch,
2ish- education or work,
5.30ish - dinner, call for meds, association.
Around 7.30 bang up .
during the day you can get called for visits, gym, etc.
Each prison is different , & has different rules, times, etc.

Forgot to s You can get negatives entries, IEP's for all different reasons, it all depends on what it is & what screw (officer) it is .
if you decide you don't want to go to work & after being called for work a couple times , get mad & tell them to "f**k off ,_I'm not going" youll go behind your door & get a negative ,
if you're on standard & have to many you end up on basic, ,& lose privileges.
I've gone & got my meds & unlock then gone back to bed when I've not had work. If your cell is dark & quiet & shut door you're left alone by most women , as it's a respect thing.
you don't just walk into someone's cell uninvited as that's disrespectful, but it does happen. 😠😠.

In my husbands prison (US so different to over here) they call people for jobs, education, dr appointments etc. if they don’t wait at the doors to go to their jobs/education they’ll get in house seg which means locked in their room until discipline sees them and they’ll potentially lose their job or classes) if they fail to go to the dr appointments they’ll also get in house seg for the rest of the day. They’ll also call their cell numbers over a tannoy and if after 3/4 calls the person hasn’t went to speak to someone they’ll lock the unit down until they’ve located them. I think it would be hard to have a sort of mental health day and stay in bed all day because of the repercussions which is pretty bad considering their environment they’re in and depression is pretty rife.
They don’t have to go to the dining hall for the meals though, that’s the choice of the men.

None of us could really answer that without compromising security. But there are well practiced multi-agency plans if the worst were ever to happen.

No amok would be run 😂

Thanks for this! I can’t imagine what it must be like in prison if you are dealing with a MH issue!

This is off topic but you may still find it interesting in a morbid kinda way. There’s articles online about how the guards from a New Orleans prison abandoned the prison when Hurricane Katrina hit and left 650 prisons locked in with no access to anything. I’ve heard people say how some were locked in whilst it was flooding, water levels rising and no where to go. Not sure what’s true and what’s rumours but it makes for an interesting read if you Google it.

@stunrw
Ohhhh, ok. Is that the reason why we were put behind our doors when the girl set fire to her cell?
it was really bad, & fire brigade came, which we LOVED!! 😂😂. 50+ horny, sex starved prisoners seeing a few men in uniforms almost caused a (happy) riot! The noise coming from the girls was deafening! A few girls got nicked because they refused to go behind their door. Our flaps were left open , but bc of our shouting at the firemen they were shut, but if you bang your door you can make the flaps open . 👍👍😂.

@stunrw
So I take it you're a p.o/OSG? (I normally say screw, but out of respect for you I won't. 👍💕)
can I ask a question (without compromising your safety) ? ....
who would / do you prefer to work with?.... Men, or women? & why? Also do you prefer local, resettlement, open? Etc.
x.

I'm a federal employee in Europe. I just spend a lot of time collecting people from British jails as part of my job 😁

Edit: Womens jails terrify me 😂😂😂
