Following this thread! My dream alternative career is prison psychiatrist. Is that mad?! It’s prob not quite like they show it on things like The Fall…
It’s the exact opposite. She has been sexting with her current husband for ten years while he was in prison. This is when she was happy family with her ex(baby father). Then that ended with claims of severe domestic abuse (both have claims of violence instigated by the other. Most recently she beat him up in front of their kids in November when he refused to get back with her.) She married her husband in June and then turned him into the feds for a parole violation so that he was out of the way for her current BF to move in with her. During that period she had a number of sexual interludes with at least two other guys. I say enjoy yourself but don’t have all these guys in your home around your young children!I used to watch this girlafter what happened with her ex husband you think she would have gave men a rest for a few years

Absolutely loads are in prison due to mental health issues. I’ve got a lad who went to a police station & started smashing it up and threatening the officers with a broken bottle purely for the fact he was struggling with his mental health & wanted to go back to prison.
It is really sad & during keyworker sessions (which rarely get facilitated but I love when I get detailed keyworker) you can actually sit and have a somewhat deep conversation about their past and what some of them have been through is absolutely horrible.
I don’t condone crime in the slightest but hearing everyone’s individual stories you can’t help but feel for them in some way and have empathy towards them and then others are just downright vile human beings who have had everything given to them on a plate, a normal ish upbringing and are just awful awful people
A classic example of Correlation ≠ Causation. I recently read an interesting study by Halle et al. (2020) who examined the link between Mental Health, Crime and Violence. And that is the key aim for people like @eggfriedrice
He is a success story and he should be proud of that
You’re amazing! Thank you for helping these peopleI work in adult MH services, we assess lots of different types of people from people who are working in professional jobs to ex prisoners and everyone in between.
CPS are not the police. They're a separate body. And I'm not sure they choose the judge?CPS do
Thankyou, unfortunately it HAS defined me and I have no one in my life now apart from my family as so called friends have been shitty as well. It sounds ridiculous but some of the people I have "met" on Tattle are some of the loveliest people who I'd love to have as real friends.WowThank you for sharing that as I can imagine it was hard
Depends on a number of things:
The management structure for a start. There is ultimately whats called a Governing Governor (you’ll have maybe seen me say No1). They are in in overall charge of the jail. Then there are a number of governors below who manage different departments - so security, operations, equailty…all sorts of shite.ad made up job titles Below them there are what are (I think still) called Custodial Managers who are the most senior uniform grade who run the day to day stuff. SO’s (Senior Officers) then report to them and they are responsible for the teams of officers.
If the person at the top of the tree is crap then it filters down to everyone else. AND the Uk prison estate was built in the 19th century. So its falling to bits. Then the government forget to spend money, morale of the staff goes, outcomes for prisoners get worse. Vicious circle
@stunrwNone of us could really answer that without compromising security. But there are well practiced multi-agency plans if the worst were ever to happen.
No amok would be run![]()
I know everyone is always really curious about what it’s like in a prison but it’s really dangerous and unprofessional for prison staff to talk on a public forum about what goes on behind bars. Governors would not take kindly to it and security definitely would not.I can’t explain how stupid it is. Prisoners families or even worse…. Prisoners could read this and I don’t think people realise how catastrophic and dangerous that could beNothing to add other than I was obsessed with this thread and sad it has gone quiet![]()
Big granny knickers... plain or flowers,If you need a new bra and knickers how do you get them?
I assume the bras aren't standard prison issue because of the variety of sizes needed, but are knickers?
And what do standard prison issue knickers look like, if there's such a thing?
C4's "prison" was filmed in 2019 over a few months (then on tv in 2020) & paddy (man who made it) was really nice, when he wasn't filming hed stop & chat. He saw & heard A LOT but kept his word (he didn't tell the screws )To get back on topic: any good prison documentaries people can recommend?
I’ve enjoyed First and Last 24hrs on YouTube, Parole and Tagged on BBC, and one just called “Prison” on Channel 4.
Any others?
OMG triggered! Ugh, I went out with this horrible coercive weasel for a couple of months. He cooked tinned mackerel curry every Thursday. I bet this was what he cooked in his four month stint I learned about once I'd finished with him.Cooking in kettle - they make anything and everything! Usually mackerel curry or some kind of rice/pasta dish, but they’re so clever and cook all sorts of things!
They were asked to behave how they would when they were in prison. One of the prisoners on there used to be ok TikTok and came across that he was completely reformed, helping people with their mental health. Seeing him on here, he was the one that confronted Sid at the beginning and squared up to the Google box guy. Such a shame seeing him like that compared to what he was like on tiktok
You get freaks who hurt kids and all sorts who haven't served a quarter of what he has and he's never hurt a child/woman or done anything sexual/deviant. Obviously he's no saint but I do get sad for him sometimes. He said its not even being in jail that ever bothered him but it was the not knowing when he would get out.Ooooof IPP. Biggest bunch of arse ever. Good to hear he's doing well and his contact is good.
Oh yes, it's a thing. Boiling water mixed with sugar. It's not a nice thing to witnessI was going to ask about kettles in cells. But thought it was a dick question.. Seems it wasn't. I didn't think kettles in cells would be allowed, do people not end up getting boiling water thrown over them in fights? Is "prison napalm" an actual thing??
Wow thanks for the insight. I find it bizarre they can’t just go outside whenever they want. I’m aware it’s probably for safety reasons and fights etc and it has to be done controlled.depends what kind of prison, regime , your IEP etc.
if you're on basic & you don't have education or work then you'll be behind your door.
you do get called to go outside , but that will be on your wings exercise 'yard' . Which in the nice weather happened everyday. The healthy gym heads would run around, most would sun bathe. Summer was a killer inside, it got way too hot. I had a fan but it just blew hot air.
I n the winter it was too cold..... Sanitary towels were used to cover the vents on the windows..
Some prisons have animals, & gardens where veg, flowers, plants etc were grown, which got you outside a lot more .
there's all different kinds of jobs for prisoners,
