Thanks I was just thinking how fatal that is and a baby would not survive that so this must be what caused the respiratory failure
Yes that stayed with me too - it would almost certainly have been fairly recent, recent enough to not be the cause of death, though it would have contributed. From my understanding it’s very hard for that injury to happen accidentally.

I’ve only seen it reported by Manchester Live I think, but it’s unlikely to be a reporting error in my opinion as it’s such a harrowing piece of information. Who would get that wrong?

It will come out in the trial I expect. Surely the prosecution will call the pathologist?

So the dna found in prestons pants 🤮🤯😭
Both dna found on them... anyone know what they mean by this comment ?

"not unexpected given the domestic nature of the case"
I took it to mean that this doesn’t conclusively point to SA taking place.
The DNA agreed facts have surprised me a little bit. I will be interested to see either what else there is or where the prosecution takes it

I remember seeing something about JV denying charges of 7 counts of possession of extreme pornograhy between 2017 and 2023. These were separate to the ones of Preston. But I saw that early on, in BBC reporting if I remember correctly. The CPS don’t appear to have listed this on their charging information though so maybe they dropped those charges.

ETA - found it.

I’ve just been searching for it and didn’t realised you’d added. The definition in law of extreme pornography doesn’t include minors. The full definition makes me feel a bit sick and I am assuming there will potentially be links to this pornography viewing and the acts committed, but if it doesn’t come out during the trial, I bet the defence have argued that it would be prejudice

I had a look on Facebook and found this, JV has lost loads of weight and has the bleached blond hair mentioned in the podcast:

I had noticed in the court drawings he has long hair. Not that this looks like either of them really!

I don’t know. Their DNA stains on the cot bars is absolutely grim. I have children and I’d bet my life on there being zero “sexual DNA” being found on the bars of their cot at any stage, likewise their clothing. They said the findings are neutral so they can’t say either way if they were involved in an assault or not. Also the trousers he brought in to the station, was the vomit in the same spot as the mixed DNA but could be argued he’d vomited on that same spot?

How do you explain away the poo video? Or the large number of closes ups of genitals / bottom? The asleep in an empty bath video with the towel pushed up to show his genitals?? The video of a naked Preston playing with himself? And that’s before you even consider the 40+ bruises across his tiny body.
The bruises are damning for sure, it's crazy they weren't flagged up at the time. And from the description of the poo video I can't understand on what planet that could be seen as normal. But we've seen what family vloggers get away with in terms of what people think is weird but seemingly doesn't have legal or social work repercussions. I'm just concerned, if they are guilty, that without something more concrete, less open to interpretation or whatever, they could get off lighter than they deserve.

Was John at the house then? I thought he was away from the house eg at work and he came home with the door locked and the dog at the door? He came in to a panicking Jamie?
I think he was in the house at the time Preston was photographed over the cot which was what I thought this poster was referring to? Jamie took the photo and sent it to John whose phone location put him as being in the house. I may have also got this wrong but I’m sure that is what the reporting said?
On the day Preston died, John was not in the house.

Because they are arrogant as fuck. They've fooled other people, especially Jamie who seems to have had people asking how high when he said jump. All the staff fussing over him, the headteacher making a welfare visit, asking colleagues for their medication, dramatic collapsing in the hospital. Sociopaths or narcissistic personalities think they are superior to everyone and that people won't ever be able to see through them. Having got away with breaking his arm and the bruising he then considered himself untouchable. Everyone danced to his tune. The prosecution barrister will make mincemeat of him if he decides to speak in his own defence. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses his temper
This fits with that as well. From a witness account by a HCA on shift.

He was receiving the photos and videos though of Preston's abuse and didn't do anything, it makes him as guilty in my eyes.
They must also have some evidence of him being involved in an attack too for him to have the charge for SA.
Yes I agree. As far as I am aware we don't know which of the photos and videos he received.

I have actually just googled the seizure if you should time them... I wonder if he was timing the seizure?
But then in his statement surely he would of explained he was timing it.

Yes, you should always time a seizure, as it is a critical part of seizure first aid to track how long it lasts, particularly to determine if it lasts longer than 5 minutes. A seizure lasting over 5 minutes is considered a medical emergency. Note the start and stop times, cushion the head, and turn the person on their side.

She was released in 2024 and Preston was born in 2022 so I don’t think it’s her
She was originally released in 2013 but kept getting recalled after failing drug tests and breaching the terms of her licence. It could well be the same person. From itv news:

“In 2013, she was freed from Askham Grange women's prison near York after serving 14 years behind bars.

She then moved back to Greater Manchester - and was living just two miles from the scene of the killing.

But that same year she was behind bars again after testing positive for using cocaine, breaching the terms of her licence.

Each time she was released from prison after that, she was recalled for breaching the terms of her licence.

In 2022, the Parole Board rejected Davey's release for an eighth time.

At a hearing, it was revealed that she had the opioid painkiller subutex in her system.”

I feel so sad for this little boy. I’m curious to know if they can interrogate the water company or electric company to see whether a shower/bath was run to disprove his claim, whether a runny poo nappy was found, messages from John to his friends and family and between the two. I find the shoes off thing really odd - you may take your shoes off when you get in but John was locked out and with how Jamie is dramatic that would be the last thing you’d do as he’s likely have been causing a scene when John got home. Unless the call from Jamie to John was telling him something was off. But you’d call an ambulance!! Not drive him to hospital. They could have called 999 and being given instructions on performing cpr instead of driving him to hospital with no resuscitation attempts. Was that to get him out of the house where evidence may be?!

Was the heart emoji social worker Preston's or theirs? Usually, you'd have visits from both. Your own social worker who got you through the process will be checking up on you making sure you're ok and Preston's social worker should be checking on him. My son's would go and see him if he was asleep, and plan to be around at lunchtime etc so she could see him being fed and cared for.
I feel like they are missing a social worker somewhere?

A few points have stood out to me amongst all the horror;

JMF said that JV had left his key in the front door, so JMF couldn't open the door, he said JV often did this - why did he do this?

There are a several resentful texts from JV to JMF - ' looking after your son' 'when are you coming home' 'your son' type of comments. Was the abuse of Preston some weird dynamic between them, with JV using the abuse to control JMF?
The key in the door thing - we do this at home so that I don’t find mega unusual on its own. Under the circumstances, does seem like he didn’t want JMF to be able to just walk in the house without him knowing. Does this then point to JMF not knowing about the abuse? (Thinking out loud here).

Your second point was something I picked up on. I am wondering if his defence is going to be along these lines you know…which I think if this was the defence, I might be likely they’d both have to take the stand. I will be interested to see if their relationship is spoken about; their sex life could be relevant but these could also be things to come out after the trial.
I know in my previous job (police investigator of DA) when there were sexual elements of a crime, we would have to question their “usual” sex life/preferences. I never dealt with child sex offences though so not sure if those types of questions wouldn’t be asked.

I do a fair amount of casual dating/hooking up and the only straight men over 30 who use snapchat are cheaters or up to no good in my experience.

Most gay/bi blokes use it for hooking up and I barely know any gay men who are monogamous so I suspect that might have been why they used it. (I don't know any gay men their age who use it though, they seem to mainly communicate via hookup apps or WhatsApp.
