Oh that's interesting, I did wonder if they had actually gone ahead with moving house.
Varley was arrested at the hospital, would he and McGowan have been allowed to return to the house at any point, I wonder?
The house was secured by the police whilst they were still at the hospital after Preston died.

There are 14 separate charges for image related charges alone.

Definitely more to come and I wonder what’s meant be pseudo image, is that AI?

Also worth remembering ‘counts’ isn’t the number of photos. They group multiple types together.

The jury have got to come to a verdict on 25 separate charges for JV alone!

Ahh I’d not seen them broken down this way. I’m wondering if the pseudo image does have something to do with AI or a filter?
Or these could potentially be images he had in his possession from a site.

Normally when images are found, that would be reported in the press and at the start of the trial if they weren’t all related to Preston - the prosecution would 100% went to bring up they found other indecent images as it adds to their motive which is why I’m leaning more towards all the images charges are in relation to photos he took of Preston rather than images he’s been accessing online. I hope that makes sense - I might be wrong, it may well come out later that they did find things on his devices.

Sorry if this has been said before but I can't believe the audacity of Jamie blaming the foster parents by saying they didn't pick up on any conditions. First of all they did a fantastic job by looking after him, noticing his milk allergies, taking him to appointments etc but also there were no conditions to spot. He was a healthy happy child before he went to live with those monsters.

Seems he had a lot of contempt towards the foster mum in particular blaming her for “spoiling” Preston.

I remember the social worker saying, with regard to JV and JMF meeting the foster parents, that it was bringing together people who would not normally meet.
And I wondered what that meant and if it meant that there was an element of snobbery, in that JV and JMF were quite middle class and possibly looking down their noses on the foster parents (if they were working class, I don't even know if they were).
I do think that they used the name Elijah because Preston just didn't fit their aesthetic, so to speak, and possibly they looked down on Preston's mother and the rest of his biological family.

I remember seeing something about JV denying charges of 7 counts of possession of extreme pornograhy between 2017 and 2023. These were separate to the ones of Preston. But I saw that early on, in BBC reporting if I remember correctly. The CPS don’t appear to have listed this on their charging information though so maybe they dropped those charges.

ETA - found it.

Did Preston have any seizure like episodes before he lived with JV & JMF? Likewise the squint in Preston’s eye. Had that been present before he lived with JV & JMF? I’m looking to rule out the squint being caused from a head injury, maybe one causing one of the bruises to his head. The bruises on shins I can understand from a crawling baby, I can’t understand how a baby who can’t walk can have so many bruises from normal activities. The bruising behind his ear is a particular red flag.

Knew he had to have something like this. Wonder why it was scrubbed . Would it influence a jury maybe? Regardless he won't see the light of day ever again anyway

I wondered if it could be tried separately as they don't relate to this particular group of offending that all relates to Preston. Or left to lie on file, then decide not to pursue those charges after conviction as won't be in the public interest as he's not seeing the light of day again anyway?

I’ve just been searching for it and didn’t realised you’d added. The definition in law of extreme pornography doesn’t include minors. The full definition makes me feel a bit sick and I am assuming there will potentially be links to this pornography viewing and the acts committed, but if it doesn’t come out during the trial, I bet the defence have argued that it would be prejudice

I wouldn’t be surprised if adoption rules hadn’t been updated since the explosion of the internet. So many people live huge chunks of their lives online. People are very good at maintaining a facade of being a normal functioning member of society if they have an outlet. The internet gives them that.

You don’t go from zero to r*ping a baby you’ve had in your care for 4 months. This was a calculated plan and I cannot believe either of them acted independently of the other. It’s not credible.

When I spoke on here the other day about the timer and my thoughts of him timing the assaults to try ‘limit’ the time oxygen was stopped going to the brain and then also whether they were going to detail anything about their actual relationship/sexual preferences. I was thinking that may be the men took part in like BDSM or breath play stuff…some of these acts could come under the extreme pornography umbrella. Again, this could just be me connecting dots that aren’t there.

I bet there will be a lot that comes out after this trial finishes

The amount of baths Preston had was an immediate red flag to me and I believe it was easy access to abuse.
Maybe I'm a grub but I wouldn't bath my baby again if I'd already done it and he was sick. He wasn't a newborn, i would just sit him on my lap and clean him from the sink. 2x baths per day is a lot of effort when you're knackered caring for a baby all day.

Ps. We had to give our social media handles when we adopted. I don't know what you can find out from them, but it does seem like some checks are done.

I’ve been unable to respond to a couple of posts in here - I think there’s a glitch, so apologies for not addressing posters directly.

It is 100% accurate that professionals get treated differently by SS. They do. It’s for a multitude of reasons, the sw is intimidated by them. They make lots of complaints and know how to work the system. They are motivated and educated and know how to intimidate sw. Many sw are underpaid and overworked and would resist the inevitable locking of horns.

A peadophile doesn’t operate in a linear way. They are always a pedophile but the most persuasive predictor is OPPORTUNITY. A pedophile can, not offend for years and then the partner gets a night shift job and it starts.

It’s about power and he - without a doubt enjoyed the attention of the meetings and the vetting process.

He had tried to create a narrative about a problematic child in the same way that groomers and rapists have done for years. Problem child - difficult behaviour- challenging.

The sw without a doubt in my opinion is not fit for practice.

I agree. Baths are hard work! and babies throw up, you don’t bath them every time they are a bit sick!

I hate everything I read about this case. I can see glimmers of what I think their defence will be but I won’t be buying it.

Why is it unrealistic? There is intense vetting and security checks on people wanting to join the police. I believe that includes checking their digital footprints. I think the same should apply to anyone wanting to adopt as a minimum. It’s intrusive but necessary 🤷🏼‍♀️
Yes and the police force is also full of wronguns

Sorry if I’ve missed this but what was their reason for the fractured arm at the hospital? I’m as shocked and saddened by this case as everyone else reading this. He’s been in my thought everyday. Sending my love to everyone following this thread as it’s a hard read.

I’m sure as part of the adoption process that ex partners are spoken to if there’s been a serious relationship. But as we know abusers hide in plain sight so it’s very possible no one could have thought this would happen from either of them
