God, listening to The Trial podcast and my Christ they really pulled the Wool over everyone’s eyes, and they must have done it brilliantly because the times when concerns should have been raised and subsequently investigated are numerous, it’s very concerning. Preston fractured his elbow and Vardy changed his story about what happened, once saying it was from ‘guiding him back into position’ to sleep and telling someone else it was trapped in the bars of his cot. The social worker seems to have been more concerned about how terrible Vardy appeared to be feeling about the incident than the fact the baby had a cast on his elbow from supposedly being put down to sleep. She even mentions how they’d discussed how they could get some much needed couple time away from Preston.

Previous to that incident he had head bruises from what they told doctors was him pulling a toy box down on his own head. No further questions asked, apparently. It’s appalling.

I think the post adoption care/process needs a serious overhaul unless it’s just the doing of one incompetent social worker in this case. Do they not do thorough checks afterwards? Unannounced visits? Or is that unrealistic as well 😒

You’d have to be a fucking imbecile to not see and question the bruises all over that little boy’s head it’s not like they were hidden. A human bite mark is as obvious as it gets and I know that was on his little bum but I can’t stomach how that grub’s mother didn’t question it when she had Preston the day he died 🤬 She bathed him ffs. There are no excuses to be had for any of the adults involved in this sorry case.

I don’t have children myself but the way he’s described how that injury with his arm may have happened and how he was holding his hands whilst putting him in the cot, I just couldn’t imagine just using a babies hands to put them down? You’d hold them under their armpits or you’d be cradling them and lay them down that way right? I just wouldn’t feel that the baby was supported by just holding their hands and I would worry I was going to cause harm if I did that.

I can’t stop thinking about poor Preston😢Has his biological Mum said anything publicly?
I’m the same. I don’t think any case has shook me quite as bad as this has. That poor baby living with those monsters he must have been so frightened going from a loving home with his foster family to that hell hole. I’m so so sorry he had to go through that suffering.

I can't read details. It's just too horrific. I hope that pair never see daylight outside a jail again. That is all.

The doctor says she sucked what looked like milky vomit from the baby’s throat, however she does not recall any water being removed. There was no fluid or vomit suctioned from his lungs, she adds.

Is this what I think it is :(

I'm sure I'm not the only one weeping at the pathologist's evidence. Thinking about my own precious children and grandchildren as babies, and feeling so devastated for Preston's pain and fear at the hands of those two monsters.

I feel today has been very compelling of their guilt. Thank god, because these fuckers deserve everything coming to them.

Preston's lovely smiley photos rip my heart out. My middle boy looked very similar at that age 💔

A few points that have occurred to me, having just caught up on yesterday’s live reporting and the summary of the podcast given above. Can they not use location data on the hot tub photo? Where was it, who was there and wtf was going on?! The bruises to his head, omg you can see what is insinuated by the description of them. There’s so many things wrong- am I the most nervous parent ever that I would NOT have had 5 cuddly toys and various blankets in my child’s cot. It’s a suffocation hazard and they weren’t even allowed more than one or two once they were bigger and sleeping in a bed. Describing him snuggling and chewing them makes Preston sound like a pet dog in a crate. Yes I am aware babies chew soft things, my eldest would chew a vest or his own sock because he never wanted a dummy. “Free Willy time”- that’s something I might have done when they were tiny if I was struggling with nappy rash but it’s been largely discounted as helpful and a barrier cream and clean nappy are preferable. I wouldn’t have done that once they were older with larger volume of wee and old enough to rummage their privates (none of mine really did that though I’m aware it’s not uncommon for little boys and they had taken videos of Preston doing it, the sickos). Leaving a baby who is at risk of attachment disorder to cry and whimper so you can prove to yourself he’s manipulative and whiny! That’s one of the most misguided (I’m being generous), cruel and or narcissistic things I’ve heard. I just can’t get over the audacity of JV dismissing the internal injuries. There was nobody else there to cause them on his final day. I think a focus is being made on the bladder because the defence will probably use the doctor’s words about the appearance of his bottom sometimes being seen after a resuscitation to push for reasonable doubt
When they're asking him these questions I'm pretty sure they know the answers, it's just to see what he'll say , will he admit to anything.
Wonder why the hot tub was a sensitive subject for him , going no comment and almost sounding subdued at the memory. Also a baby in a hot tub sounds wild to me, the water is so high, I know they were probably holding him but even if you accidentally let him go that's so dangerous, it's not like a bath or a paddling pool

Regular meetings with the foster parents are in the best interests of the LAC. JV/JF’s complaints and cancellations should have been a massive reg flag, however much the SW liked them. I wonder if there was a bit of classism and/or ageism at play
I really think there was an element of classism, I bet the social worker was thinking that Preston would have a good life with this middle class couple, living in a very nice semi detached house.
I think she was too favourably disposed towards JV and JMF and just wanted the adoption to go through and work out.

I dont need to follow any more. I don’t need to read details of how they raped and abused this poor baby. This is enough.

They are monsters.

The social workers and the friend who he sent that video to belong in jail just as much as Varley does.

I cannot even comprehend this level of sick fuckery.
That poor little baby has been nothing but a f*ck-toy for these sadistic kh^nts - a helpless, living being they could torture and abuse with impunity. If they had been less arrogant and careless he could have been subjected to years of hideous torture. And they would have got away with it, and probably been praised for their loving patience with their obviously disabled child (which is how he would have been perceived - and ended up).

Preston should NEVER have been in this situation in the first place - and having been put int it, his situation should have been picked u and he should have been removed. His short life ended in pain and fear and I hope they rot in hell.

However, I'm sure that "lessons will be learned"

I’ve just listened to the latest episode of the podcast and the poo video is even worse than I thought

Not only did JV film Preston having a poo in the bath, he was also in the bath at the same time and lifted Preston’s legs whilst he continued filming him having his poo. This is just too grim 🤢 they have the actual police interview audio from being questioned on this. This is from the transcript , he’s highlighted in orange. his no comment comes with a massive sigh 🙄 View attachment 3987471

There were additional descriptions of some of the videos and photos in episode 3 too which are just indefensible IMO. 33 naked pictures over a 43 minute period

That poor baby. Why was he laid in a bath with no water in it and propped up on a pillow 😞
Cannot get my head around how depraved and disgusting this pair are.

I don’t think it is commonly known, but DNA itself can’t be determined to be from a particular source (blood, semen, skin cells etc.).
The genetic code in a cell from skin, blood, saliva, or semen is the same code. So when a forensic laboratory extracts DNA and produces a profile, that profile tells you whose DNA it is, but it does not, on its own, tell you what body material the DNA came from.

The sample around the DNA can be tested and in some cases is very obvious. Semen has microscopic characteristics which is what they used to determine that this was found in a saliva sample from the cot that also contained a mix of DNA from JMF and JV.

With the sex toy the obvious defense is transfer DNA from Preston to the toy via the hands of JMF or JV. The prosecution will be layering the evidence so that one strand alone is doubtful but together it leaves little room for manoeuvre.

I hope there is a thorough investigation and some sackings after this. Likewise for the teachers who completely failed at spotting the red flags.

And I don't just want to hear "lessons will be learned" yet again.

I'm following the live reporting of this trial as I have many trials over the years, but my goodness this is awful. The description of injuries - such depravity and cruelty. That poor little baby.

I have actually just googled the seizure if you should time them... I wonder if he was timing the seizure?
But then in his statement surely he would of explained he was timing it.

Yes, you should always time a seizure, as it is a critical part of seizure first aid to track how long it lasts, particularly to determine if it lasts longer than 5 minutes. A seizure lasting over 5 minutes is considered a medical emergency. Note the start and stop times, cushion the head, and turn the person on their side.
Timing the seizure would make sense, arguable more sense that my opinion of the use of the timer, but as you say, he’s said he has no memory of the video and a seizure never featured in the timeline…
I’m still of the opinion JV knew he was causing the seizures (and other things) by the S.Assaults he was committing and he was ‘monitoring’ to see how much he could get away with/push it.

I have been able to follow closely today but I’m actually not sure if I’ll be able to again. I just can’t stop thinking about what they subjected that poor little boy to. He didn’t deserve any of this, he deserved love. I’m so angry that the social workers didn’t see the clear red flags. I’m angry after the second hospital visit that the drs didn’t flag a concern due to the frequency of visits. I just feel like he’s been let down so much during his short little life

My impression of McGowan-Fazakerley is that he is an absolute wet wipe who knew what was going on and did absolutely nothing about it.

I'm guessing more will come out about him though and it seems there may be some evidence he contributed to the sexual abuse?

Hope he gets convicted of something and there's no way he didn't know.
I get the impression more will come about him and his complicity. I thought an earlier post said his (JMF's) semen was found on the bars of the cot. I hope they both take the stand and get absolutely annihilated.

I’ve only read here and the first episode of the trial podcast and I think JMF will find it hard to defend he had no idea JV was causing harm. There is evidence of him receiving videos/images and associated messages from JV plus the level of injuries, the delays seeking medical attention etc show he wasn’t acting to protect Preston. Even if JMF was controlled and coerced by JV (just as a hypothetical example) that won’t be a good enough defence for causing or allowing the death of a child.

This is probably the worst case I’ve ever heard of. That poor baby was tortured time and time again and died in one of the worst ways possible. I have total faith in the jury.
Completely agree. The evidence of the episode of breathing difficulties that ends in a failed call to 999, they call 111 but don’t take the callback and then do not tell the health visitor about any of these breathing difficulties on her visit the following day.. JMF is there the whole time. I believe he engaged in the acts that caused Preston those same breathing difficulties that go on to kill him.
I also take the forensic sampling evidence of Preston’s saliva with both JV and JMF sperm mixed in to mean exactly that too. I think JMF “dna” (presumable sperm again as it’s his house so only significant if it’s that) was on the floor by the cot.
Absolutely harrowing.

My mind just keeps going back to that awful amateur dramatic display at the hospital. I’m hoping that the display was put on as an act of desperation because he knew the game was up. I can only hope he was and is absolutely terrified

I wonder what their endgame was? Abusing a baby? The baby would eventually be able to talk and tell those around them what they were doing. I don’t get what they thought would happen. Makes me wonder if they knew he would die and they would end up in jail.
Ian Watkins didn’t adopt to do this so wasn’t continuously doing it to the same child. But these two adopted a baby to do this to who would eventually reveal what was happening as they go older.
Abusers don't typically have an endgame as such. They deal with the here and now and by the time they are able to talk, the abusers have either managed to socially isolate their victim of have developed excuses for any statements. Victim blaming as a form of acting out due to behavioural difficulties, Oh they are a troubled child so what do you expect etc.
