Yes, the hospital performance wasnt one he practised beforehand. John seems more aware that this is something they cant smoothly explain away. That hes facing into an investigation where every facet of his private life will be minutely pored over, and he's facing significant prison time. Its grief all right, but not for Preston.I think JV's overdramatic performance at the hospital is interesting and a big giveaway - genuine shock and grief doesn't look like this, but he doesn't have those real emotions, he's under extreme pressure and he is acting how he thinks those emotions would feel. Compare JV's reactions to JMF - JMF is more believable and it looks genuine.
During the adoption process, there is no panic, it is meetings and questions. JV is familiar with meetings with professionals and he knows all about safeguarding - so this is a comfortable environment for him, he knows how to behave and there's no pressure.

‘I will fight you ’til the day I die’ - Teacher accused of baby murder warns police

It's a chilling case because on the surface the defendants look like well meaning people that are trustworthy. The witness statements of their friends and colleagues show they believed Preston to be well looked after but the parents to be over whelmed however the forensic evidence paints a completely different story - the horrors they submitted that poor baby boy to, It has nothing to be do with a sleep deprived parents suddenly snapping they are deliberate cruel acts. This has absolutely horrified me. Wtf did they do to this poor boy.
They weren't suitable because they are monsters, abusers, animals. Not because they are gay. Their sexuality has nothing to do with it.but this case seems to illustrate massively a case where it wasnt suitable for this gay couple to adopt a tiny baby, and where massive mistakes seem to have been made placing this child with this family. Every other aspect of this case will be considered, so what is so wrong in considering the obvious?
You can doubt it, but you'd be wrong. All people, male, female, gay and straight are capable of and have committed horrendous acts of abuse.do doubt very much if a lesbian pair, would even dream of contemplating any kind of SA on a baby, so maybe the checks for men do need to be a bit more comprehensive to ensure this kind of thing never happens again.
You are supposed to think it was intended either intentionally "beyond reasonable doubt" OR that you it is "beyond reasonable doubt" that you should have been aware that your actions were likely to cause death and you were reckless and didn't give a toss, I think.Do they have to be sure of this, or is it sufficient to have planned to commit an assault that has the probability to kill?
I suppose im thinking of the sentences the killers of Star Hobson and Arthur Labinjo- Hughes got. I doubt they actively planned murder, but their deliberate and intentional actions caused death.
Having read more of this thread, I also wonder whether the apparent good reputation of Varley, the whole middle class teacher, with a respectable and responsible job has also influenced the way the social workers and establishment perceive him? He knew how to give the correct answers and the correct responses, how to deflect suspicion. So he wasnt questioned as much as he should have been about things like hospital visits? They weren't suitable because they are monsters, abusers, animals. Not because they are gay. Their sexuality has nothing to do with it.

Maybe the checks for all adoptive parents need to be more comprehensive and as well as, the follow up and monitoring for signs of red flags
I was confused by this too, but my teacher friend told me that a lot of their heads of years aren't actually PGCE qualified. So they can't teach a class, but can do a head of year / SENCO type role as they are more pastoral. To teach a class, you do your PGCE.Sorry I'm not fully caught up on the thread so apologies if this is out of place. I've just been reading through some of the back articles on the Blackpool Gazette after the link was posted to Varleys interview.
I'm now even more confused on Varleys Teaching timeliness.
Apologies I'm shit with links but I'm pretty sure this is correct from various reporting.
He did his teacher training between 2019-2021 (incidentally during mostly covid and lockdown times, remember those days?......)
They began the adoption process in late 2021, and passed stage 1 of the process early 2022. Then they took a break before the 2nd part, I'm pretty sure it was said because he wanted to get his year 11s through their exams as he had had them from the start?
I'm sure one of his teacher colleagues said that. But how if that was his first year as a qualified teacher? Had he been head of year during training?
Also the thing about the prom was when they had Preston with them wasn't it? The meet up at the hotel with colleagues. So that would relate to year 11s/exams, but this is a year later in 2023.
Its not especially relevant i suppose but I can't figure it out.
The fucking bastard!I don’t understand this at all. Apart from it being cruel and neglectful. Why was he filming him? A 14 minute video is a huge length of time.
He also contradicts himself - wants to see how Preston was in his own company but then says Preston could see him.

He comes across as very controlling and abusive. We haven't heard how John responds to him though he could be just as bad.Other than the obvious issue with the language in his text, this is the second or third time (that I’ve seen) where JV refers to Preston as “your son” when talking to JF. He comes across as a totally manipulative psychopath (obviously in hindsight - but I think there were more than enough red flags before). Also gives me the impression the desire to adopt may have been more from JF?
