So true. This case takes over my mind most of the day and I've only seen a fraction of what they have. Surely they get the counselling provided afterwards do they? Imagine having to sit there looking at them and try hold yourself back from going for them. I'd say the whole court room is seething every second of the day!
So many lives impacted because one vile subhuman and its little boyfriend couldn’t keep their filthy penises to themselves.

I think you are correct here. I’m speculating but I think probably JV left Preston in a state and only went to check on him when JMF was almost home. Like a used toy, no concern or compassion, then he’s gone to “tidy up before daddy gets home” 🤢 and discovered Preston moribund. The 7 minutes before they left was probably a quick argument over whether to call for help or just go. They’ve quickly cobbled together the drowning and because Preston actually died it’s been investigated thoroughly whereas before he’s recovered and they’ve just been able to talk their way out of things and get on with it. So they didn’t think they needed to “set the scene” for a drowning because they didn’t summon emergency services to the scene. JV saying “I need your help” to JMF fits with this, he didn’t know what to do because he didn’t expect to find that. Also the “It’s my fault I left him” comments at hospital would ring true in this context.
This is exactly what I think happened.
And it also explains JV saying "I killed him" and "I'm going to hell" at the hospital and why JV vomited at the hospital.
I know a lot of people think his carry on at the hospital was performative and I understand why but I think he was genuinely panicking because he knew he was caught red-handed.

Haven’t read that part about the soft toy before. I find this particular event really hard to work out and now it’s that he’s being propped up by a soft toy. You just picture your own babies don’t you I can see mine standing in their cots using the cot bars for support after nap time happy to see me when I went in to get them. I can’t comprehend walking in to an unconscious bub turning blue and it being a big laugh and “oh what is he like!?” situation. Truth is they were thrilled to see him like that because it’s what they’d done to him in the first place. I guess that kind of answers how he was fixed in place though 😪
I think Preston may have being drugged to make him sleepy. Babies aren't dolls which can be arranged into "amusing" positions. If he had tried to climb out he would have struggling with his arms and be crying. Drugging him may explain the sleeping in strange places. An over tired baby wanting to sleep would become cranky until the environment became suitable for sleeping.

I can't stop thinking about that soft toy position over the side of the cot. Let's play the lie out. You go into a room and your non-walking child has somehow managed to climb on top of a soft toy and get their neck lodged over the side of the bar, and its caused choking/ strangulation to the point of turning blue. You're going to instantly grab the child, check are they OK, run to your partner in panic, and then both discuss what the sleeping arrangements will be going forward because they can obviously never sleep in a cot again. You'd never sleep a wink again in fear if they were in a cot. Me anyway I'd likely go to the hospital to have them checked out after being deprived of oxygen for who knows how long. No one on God's green earth is going to laugh and take photos

I must say when I follow these cases that I'm always reminded that I'm glad to not be married to a KC. The way they can word things to discredit or create doubt I really do think is a skill that gets lost when they're on the defence side of things in a case when (like this) is so obvious what the truth is.

I think KC Kennedy is doing a 'good' job in his role, and again, I'm glad because it means JV can't complain he didn't get fairly represented etc.

KC Kennedy mentions the media and internet in relation to this case. Wonder if he's read this thread?

If Preston was awake and under JV supervision how did he manage to breathe in his vomit. Surely it was being swiped away.

Haven’t seen one mention of drowning or water being found in his lungs yet. The very cause of death his lovely client has claimed from the start 😀 surely you can’t just white wash that completely because it doesn’t suit the narrative anymore lol

It’s interesting that Preston vomited as soon as JV got to his mums to pick him up and JV took him home covered in sick rather than change his clothes quickly at his Mum’s. Perhaps he did a lot to keep some of the more obvious injuries from her. His bottom may have recovered enough to look like a more average “sore bum” presentation and less startling by the time he took him round after the cot incident.
He was also always playing the worried new Dad around family members which served two purposes- made him look like a doting father and began to form a picture of a frequently poorly “difficult” baby that suffered from seizures, chest infections, his life threatening squint 🙄
Can probably add a third motivation too - lots of poor Jamie attention and drama.

A big dose of speculation and arm chair psychology here but I also think that seeking their help and advice (sleep trainer sister too) it massages the ego a little bit. Oh look they need me again, I can help, they’re so inexperienced.. I think that means you don’t lead with suspicion and intrigue.
I think you're absolutely spot on here.

“He refers to the linear bruising on Preston’s thigh and says when Mr Varley said he had gripped onto Preston in the car on the way to the hospital he had no idea that Dr Crane and Dr Gifford would say, years later, that the bruising to Preston’s thigh could be caused by gripping.”

Yeah but we already know Preston didn’t have a pulse and wasn't breathing at that stage so it wouldn’t have bruised him 🙄

Defence doing a great job at trying to get the jury to forget about some very salient points. Hopefully they see through that.

Why would you need to very firmly need to grip an unconscious baby's thigh to do CPR. He would be floppy just lie him down flat on your lap.

The defence are saying he was pulled out of the water before he inhaled water so that's why no water was found in the lungs. They are claiming he then vomited, inhaled the vomit and that caused his death.

Does anyone else really struggle to read the closing defence? I feel anxious the jury will come back with not guilty 😭

Aside from the evidence of SA, the jury have seen the video of Preston on the day he died, barely breathing and literally dying and the sinister fucker JV is just standing watching, saying absolutely nothing to him.
I think they’ll absolutely believe the medical staff over JVs excuses which mirror the autopsy results he’s heard about (pressing on his abdomen “like a tube of toothpaste”).
JV’s actions before during and after make him look guilty imo.

The defence will miss out the parts that make them guilty. Like the bath story not adding up and the indecent photos
