The seizure video showed Preston not breathing and turning blue, surely this would be difficult to watch let alone take a video of!
JV didn’t care because he’d left Preston in this state numerous times before and he’d always recovered.

So the social worker has recorded that they’ve said he was upset and unsettled the night of the fracture but they’ve turned it into he was making them laugh with cheeky noises. The wink is back too 🙄 moron.

The irony of me feeling guilty that I’m distracted in the half term by this trial is not lost. My kids are clean, fed, happy, just going about their day. Nothing like little Preston’s short life at all.

I've just caught up on yesterday and then today and it seems to be that, in the world according to JV, everyone is wrong, he never said that, he can't remember, he's got a silly and dramatic personality and it's all incorrect. But never any alternative explanation.

Reading some of the court reporting today, I get the sense JV is getting more stressed and snarky with his responses. Such as "the only story here is yours, sir" and "So she doesn't remember, sir".

I really hope they can get him to really flip and show more of this true character. He's pissing me off as well with the "No, if that was the case there would be thousands of images," business, like what normal person would say that?

"He was your plaything and you were serially abusing him," Mr Wright KC puts to the defendant.

"No, if that was the case there would be thousands of images," Mr Varley says.

Yeah because the obvious response to being told you were a child abuser is “I’d have taken more photo evidence of it if I was” 🙄

The “we did it, we think”, “…when we were holding his hands” is very telling imo. It doesn’t take two people to lay a baby down in a cot for a start.

It sounds like there’s a couple of instances where the prosecution is suggesting JV sent JMV videos of Preston in distress or being mistreated as punishment because he was unhappy with him

This is what I’ve been thinking. It’s not unusual for some families to be advised not to come rushing into A&E every time their child has a seizure, but to keep a record of when they happen so that a paediatrician can review at a later date. But this advice would NOT be given to a baby of Preston’s age, who has started to have seizures seemingly out of nowhere.

JV is indeed assuming that he can get away with this lie as he thinks it’s plausible.
My son was Preston’s age when he started having seizure like episodes out of nowhere. We were straight away admitted to hospital, endless tests, an EEG etc. We were asked to film them so they could see what happened as they were very brief, but told to always take him in with open access to paediatrics until they’d ruled out anything major. There’s no way they’d have just said film them but don’t bring him in.

Yes they are really linking the digital evidence and a horrible picture is forming.

What are they getting at with JMF having two phones, one for paying for things?

"Mr Wright asks if this was a 'dry run' and whether he had dark thoughts about drowning him in the bath.

Mr Varley says that is not the case.

"We lost our boy. You forget about that when you put these allegations forward. I could not think straight’, he says."

Is he trying to say he couldn't think straight when asked about the bath video, or just being evasive and not answering questions once again?

So blood gases say the poor baby had no lung function for a long time before he was taken to hospital and resuscitation attempted, meaning it ceased in the house yet JV says he had his eyes open and wasn’t unconscious. You can’t argued with medical evidence. It’s just harrowing.

Who on earth says that as a response, when being accused of sexually abusing a baby? An innocent person would be horrified and say "no, absolutely not!"

Cross-examination concluded. Am I correct in thinking NJ will now re-question him, and seek to clarify things or is that just prosecution witnesses?

I'm curious to see who's next on the stand.

May as well have said ‘No I only had four months and I don’t consider that to be long enough to ‘serially’ abuse him.’

This is so like Dr Shipman's responses when he was cross-examined (come to think of it, Shipman said he was ill and needed a break at the start of cross-examination). Arrogant, snarky, faux-polite with calling the barrister sir. I think, though I'd have to check the transcript which I have somewhere, Shipman came out with the exact same line about "the only story here is yours, sir".

With the next witness being called being the defence pathologist, does that suggest JMF is not taking the stand?

How very interesting, in an odd-awful way! I don't know much in-depth information about Dr. Shipman, sadly, but from what I do know it shows the same level of psychology of these types of people, both exploiting the vulnerable and being arrogant to being caught.

I still don’t understand the concept of filming the seizure on Snapchat instead of just a normal video on his phone? Surely it takes longer to find and open snap chat than it does when most phones have a shortcut to the camera on the lock screen? (I will admit I don’t understand Snapchat at all!)
