My husband isn’t and wasn’t allowed to any scans or appointments. Such a shame as the scans really help with bonding etc.

Morning all, got my rescan on Wednesday 13th. I’ll be 6 weeks and 3 days. Do we think I’ll be able to see baby then? And a heartbeat?

Baby will be a little blobby peanut and you may be able to see heartbeat, but if you don’t it could just be too early to see it yet xx

Just had a midwife call at 7:50, she kept saying 'I think I've rang you early' and and was like uh yeah I'm still in bed. Turns out she meant the appointment was apparently wrong for some reason so asked how are you getting on with the pregnancy and rescheduled for 4 weeks later. and hung up a minute later. So pointless.
Not having great luck with care so far, my first scan was arranged before in early December but I wasn't sent a letter or informed in any way so I completely missed it!

I find antenatal care really patchy! I work in the NHS so understand there are frequent admin issues and oversights but it does seem a bit of a Wild West and relies a lot on the mum to chase things up.

I had one.

He didn’t turn and I had to have an emergency csection in the end because my waters broke before my planned one. The little tinker was determined to come.

It isn’t painful at all, it’s uncomfortable but compared to contractions it’s a walk in the park. I would happily have another one if my baby was breach again.

Saying that I would also happily have a csection again. That’s definitely not as bad as they scare you into - I was doing the food shop 6 days later proudly showing off my baby and no one would’ve known I’d had a csection.

Thank you. Reading up on the risks associated with them has got me a bit stressed out. How many weeks were you when they tried? Did they only try to turn him once?

Also, I can now say I’m having my baby this year! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!! 13 weeks left!!!

I am so shocked to hear about the crap hands off care people are getting.

Apart from my 12 week appointment when my history was taken over the phone rather than face to face (and scan etc all done as normal), everything where I am has been totally normal. TBF I’ve only managed to remember to make 1 midwife appointment but again it was normal, as were my 3 hospital appointments.

How are they expecting mums and babies to stay healthy and calm if they aren’t being treated properly?

Is my concern. It really worries me!
I understand there's a pandemic but women and babies lives are being put at risk.

Just a question for everyone... Does anyone do the strep b tests during their pregnancy?

I have done them with both of mine and will be with this one when the time comes. It does suck that you have to pay for them, but totally worth it and not something that tends to be spoken about

I had a private scan yesterday at 12 weeks as my nhs one isn’t until the 6th and omg I love her so much! She was flipping around doing and doing loads of little roly polys.

Currently pregnant with baby no.3, I literally can't remember exactly how many weeks right now 20 something. This has been the best for me sickness wise but my sleep has been awful this time

Any BF mums tandem fed? What was your experience? I've been really luck with BF my girls have taken to it easily and I have never had any supply issues etc.. My littlest one will be 20 months when new baby is born and I don't want to stop feeding her as long as she still wants it so hoping to tandem feed but will cut out her night feeding before then (hopefully )

No never tandem fed, I’ve had to cut mine all off during pregnancy because I develop such a nursing aversion after about 9 weeks it makes my nausea so much worse, and with my third pregnancy when feeding my son it made my skin crawl! So you’ve done amazingly well to get so far! I’ve heard of a book (I think!) called “adventures in tandem feeding” which is supposed to be excellent.

I'm still really struggling with sickness 12 weeks and not even food is helping with the nausea. Just want to bloody enjoy this pregnancy and it's not happening been up all night last night being sick now with a migraine to tow. Struggling to even keep water down

I was in hospital just gone Wednesday for a scan (at 7 weeks and 5 days) - they said baby is measuring exactly as it should be for 7 weeks and 5 days however they won’t give me a due date until 12 weeks, this was an nhs appointment.

I have been online - put in my details and have an approximate date but it’ll be the nhs that decide it

That’s what I thought you meant, but if you have had an IVF transfer i thought it is based on your transfer/retrieval date. Anyway I’m sure you’ll know better than me it’s your pregnancy!

My 12 week scan I got a letter with the date. Midwife appts I’ve had to chase up myself.

I’m having growth scans so have had less midwife appts. I’m 37 weeks tomorrow and will be having my 3rd appt with her.

I thought due date for ivf pregnancy was based on the transfer date not on the scan? As they will already know when you conceived

I was replying to op who asked if she should have a scan to ease her anxiety and she didn’t know when she was due - that’s why I’ve put the exact weeks and days that I had my scan as we know how far we are

My midwife team isn’t associated with the doctor at all. It’s self referral, associated to the hospital. Outside of Covid they take a room at the doctors one morning a week or so but they’re totally separate which is handy if you’re not keen on your doctor. They don’t even share medical records though which I think is a bit crap, it’s all dependant on what you chose/remember to tell them both ways so you end up repeating yourself a lot.

My next closest hospital requires a referral form from the doctor but it’s still separate too.

Might be worth looking at your local hospitals’ website maternity pages for the process.

I wait until at least 30 weeks to buy anything because I just worry too much about things going wrong.
My partner lost a baby late on so he's very cautious about buying things before then too



Sounds partly normal and partly like SPD/PGP have you had a read on them?

Sorry what does that mean? first pregnancy and clueless. I had some pubic/pelvic Pain and mentioned to the midwife and she said it could be that and to a elf refer to maternity Physio if it got any worse but it didn’t it got better and wasn’t bothering me much x

Rang the doctors today who gave me the midwife number and it’s an automated service not heard anything back did any of you have the same thing I don’t really know what the process is I guess just waiting X

I think it really depends on your local area! I sent a message to my GP and they called me back immediately and scheduled me an appointment with the community midwife when I’ll be 7 weeks (next Monday!) but am sure others have had to wait until 8 weeks before they get any contact at all. I guess mine clearly wasn’t too busy!

I find the early stages really hard, I didn’t have any symptoms like sickness etc, you can’t feel anything yet, hardly a bump, so I think what you’re feeling is really normal. Hang in there! Once you’ve had your scan and seen baby I’m sure it will feel more real xx

Thanks hun, I just feel like I’m missing some sort of maternal gene that I’m not getting excited like my friend and buying all this bump stuff- I’m actually just really anxious about the scan. I feel like I don’t want to get my hopes up in a way. Just feel really weird about it all today. Abit detached. X

My clear blue did the same I’ve had a 2-3 and also a 3+ I have no idea so some websites say I could be 7 weeks and some 5 I am just confused and I’m glad it’s not just me who was like xx

It all bases it on the amount of HCG in your urine so if you'd drank more the day before ect, it would probably water it down a bit
