Whilst pregnant did anyone consume A LOT of pickled onions? I’ve been eating jars and jars of them and can’t stop but worried that it’s not good for me/the baby? I hope I’m not the only one 🤣

Some people are so thoughtless. When you’re pregnant it’s like a free for all, everyone thinks they’re entitled to chime in with their opinion/daft remarks. Unsolicited advice plus pregnancy hormones is a recipe for disaster. I fell out with my own mum so many times during my first pregnancy because she was so insensitive.

Hi everyone, found out I’m pregnant on Sunday night. 3 weeks and 2 days today so super early days but I am feeling so sick at the moment. Been nauseous and off food since Friday and today it’s been so bad.
So exciting! I started getting sick at about 5 weeks and now I’m 11 it is starting to calm down and gets better every day.
Are you sure you aren’t further along though? If you tested positive on Sunday that would be very early for a positive.

Lovely news, hope you’re both doing well!

Happy New Year, ladies! Here’s to our 2021 babies! I’ve just spent midnight vomiting up my Domino’s from earlier. 😂 I guess it can only get better from here.
Oh bless you! Hope you manage to get some sleep!

Happy New Year! Here's to 2021 🧃

I’m only 29 weeks but I really want to go naturally as well I really don’t want a induction. I didn’t know you could refuse. How long can you refuse for?
You can refuse all medical intervention, for as long as you like. As mentioned above there are risks to carrying on past 42 weeks however.

@Days28 I had an elective section after two difficult vaginal births. It was hands down my best birth experience, very calm. I am having another this time round.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing all of this for the first time during a pandemic and all the extra worries and stresses it brings😔

Your little boy doesn’t know what is going on in the world. All he knows is you. He’s happy and cosy, and waiting to put a face to your voice. All of the worries about how you’ll cope, what you’ll do, looking after him, he doesn’t know any of that. He never will. All he will know is that he’s safe and warm and loved, and that he has the best mama in the world for him. And when he’s here, and you’re sitting cuddling him and looking at that wee face looking up at you, you’ll know it too. We’re all just winging it by a thread sometimes, but all our babies care about is that we love them ❤
Thank you for your kind words. They brought a tear to my eye 🥲
You are so right! I will do absolutely anything for him and make sure that he is safe. I am lucky I have a very supportive husband, but even those who are the support for someone else, also need support.
it’s a worrying time but hoping that by spring things will at least be a bit different so baby can actually interact with other people.

This isn’t my first baby but I feel the same. I’m due in 3 weeks and I hate thinking what it’s gonna be like.

No matter what tier I’m in at the time my mum is moving in with us in the new year so I don’t have to worry about childcare for my other 2 children when I go into labour. I’ve stuck to all the rules but for the sake of my anxiety and mental health I’m doing what needs to be done to help myself.

Being pregnant can be stressful enough, but at times like this, I don’t think people not experiencing it can appreciate how hard it is.
Do whatever you feel is right. No judgement here!
I hope it all goes well for you ❤❤❤

Yeah totally agree. In some ways I feel I went a bit overboard with private scans as I went for a package which included 2 scans and the harmony test. But the experience was amazing, they really took the time to show me each and every view of the developing organs, blood flow, heartbeat, took measurements multiple times to ensure it was correct and explained as they went along.

Whereas my NHS experience was very similar to yours and I think if this was the only scan I'd had I'd still be feeling very anxious as I didn't see much and she basically said nothing about it except 'yeah nothing to comment on really, things look ok' 🙄. I get the NHS is so overwhelmed and underfunded but having a good bedside manner doesn't cost anything!
Like I totally get the point of the scan is medical first and foremost but jesus, let a girl have a peek at her baby! 😂 There was a screen but behind my head so the only thing I had to look at was the computer the scanner was using and it was hard work to sneak a look. She was making out like I was a naughty school kid for wanting to look!

My husband had to wait 3 floors down and I could only call him when I was in the room and when I tried to ring him she kept shouting lie down first, call once we have started. Like no, I want him here for support, that is the point of allowing partners at the 12 and 20 week scan. I don't really want to do half the scan without him because I will still be alone if something bad is detected.

How bloody rude!

Yours will be very close together, that’s just lovely 🥰 Im sure there will be lots of excitement from them all!
It took me a very long time to get pregnant with number 1, then I thought I was extremely lucky to have had number 2, then 3 came along a lot quicker than expected 😂

I've got some but they don't seem to be doing much 🙄 I contacted the midwife and she said if after 48 hours I can't keep water down then I've to go to a and e but that seems like an awful long time?!
It does. I would go anyway if you feel that you are dehydrated. Just lie and tell them 48 hrs. Your GP can give you different meds for the sickness if the ones you have don’t work. I take cyclizine which worked well last pregnancy, it totally took it away, but this time it just takes the edge off, I still feel crap most of the time (although slowly getting better now at 24 weeks 👍🏻👍🏻).

Hey, just looking for some tips and Advice Please. I'm currently 35weeks preg on my 2nd child and had a emergency section on my first. Iv opted for a elected section in a few weeks as I just couldn't go through a birth like my first time again!
I'm a single mom and live alone with my 6yr old and I'm looking for any tips on anything you could suggest to help the healing process postpartum or any tips at all to make the process abit easier while home alone etc
Many thanks x
Is there anyone (friend or family) who can do some school runs for you? I found that massively helpful after my section, my husband and parents did all the school runs which meant I didn’t have to strain myself walking (it’s only 3 minutes, but still).

Practically speaking round the house having a few weeks of freezer food prepped so you can bung it in the oven without standing up for ages cooking. So things like curry, spaghetti bolognese, even just having loads of chips/chicken goujons etc to throw in. Won’t be the end of the world for a couple of weeks.
Similarly could you check out in your area if there is any help available in terms of someone coming in to the house from Sure Start or similar? If not, have you the funds to hire a cleaner for a few weeks?

I would explain to 6yo that you will need a bit more help with things eg loading and unloading the washing machine.

And try and let as much go as you can. It can all wait a few weeks, don’t wreck yourself trying to have a perfectly clean and tidy house, just remember it will be a few weeks and you’ll be back at it again.

Just had my scan - I’m 5 weeks and 3 days so they said it’s too early to see baby but they could see yolk sac and everything that should be there. No sign of ectopic pregnancy, everything in the right place just can’t see baby yet.

@elloelloello is that the same as yours?
Hey @Kitt so glad to hear it’s not ectopic.

Yep that is the exact same as me, although they think I might of been a little earlier than 5 weeks so I probably ovulated later than I thought.

Yolk sac is there but it was so tiny so no baby visible yet, going back in 10 days for another scan.

I’m so pleased your alright, been refreshing this constantly to hear from you! Xx

Is anyone else getting worried about not being able to buy bits for the baby due to covid restrictions/lockdown until March? I’m T4 in Essex atm. I’m due in May and will buy most things online but I’m clueless about prams and had planned to start looking this month so I could have a look/try out a few. I also need to upgrade my car as it’s tiny, panicking now that I won’t have a chance to get either before baby arrives!
Try not to worry too much. In an ideal world everything is sorted before baby comes, but really if you have to do a few bits afterwards it won’t be the end of the world. If you can narrow down things you want (eg car, pram) then when places do open up a bit you can get out and make decisions quickly.
As long as you have a car seat, baby clothes and somewhere for them to sleep, the rest will be able to wait. You can always order a sling online to see you through until you can get a pram if needs be. None of that is ideal, of course, and absolutely not how you want to do things as a FTM ❤

With prams try and think about what you absolutely want from it - 3/4 wheels, small fold, parent facing option, ability to convert to a double, car seat compatible, large shopping basket etc. Once you’ve narrowed those things down you should be able to find a few choices which match that you can look at when things are open.

Feeling a bit rubbish this evening. My mom called and asked how I am, I said feeling a bit down what with feeling sick all day every day. I just feel a bit pathetic being this floored by pregnancy when I’m not even 6 weeks. And she said ‘well you wanted to be pregnant.’ And all this shit. Basically telling me off for feeling down.

Of course I want to be pregnant. I’m so so happy I’m pregnant, I feel so lucky. But surely I’m also allowed to feel a bit fed up with feeling sick all day every day so early in pregnancy. I feel like I have a long road ahead and it overwhelmed me a bit this evening. My moms never had morning sickness so she can hardly comment. Just feel a bit shit now. Won’t be telling her anything, I’ll just tell her I’m fine if she asks.
I HATE it when people act like you should be grateful to feel like shite. Or that if you express any negativity about feeling like you’ve been run over that you somehow are ungrateful for being pregnant. You can very much want and love your baby, and STILL be allowed to feel down/annoyed/frustrated/angry/upset that you feel like utter crap all the time. My husband very much wants our babies too- but he gets to skip the shitty parts and nobody mentions that!

I’m so sorry you feel so awful. I truly do understand how it feels that reaching 40 weeks is an insurmountable task. But I promise you will get there. Pregnancy is hard on the body, it’s exhausting and draining in every way. And you have every right to not enjoy that. Don’t listen to you mum.

You're not missing anything.
You are literally describing my feelings with my 4 pregnancies. One unfortunately didn't go past 10 weeks but the other 3 have been exact to how you're feeling.
I got myself so worked up coming up to my 12 week scan this time, cried every day leading up to it and in the waiting room because I was so convinced something was wrong
I didn’t realise how worked up I was about my scan, until afterwards when I felt such a sense of relief, it was like a huge weight off my shoulders.

I guess mainly the fact that things can still go wrong between now and the 20 week scan and lots still can't be picked up till that scan so should I really tell lots of people.

It's not like I did an influencer style announcement or anything, but have told close family and friends which is quite a fair few, and I kinda had a bit of a panicky episode just now thinking about it. Haven't told anyone at work yet, might tell my boss in a couple of weeks but that's about it.
12 weeks is usually considered a safe point to tell people you are pregnant, although anything can happen at any point in pregnancy. I have had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and found out at the 12 week scan and I hadn’t told anyone I was pregnant but decided to then tell my friends and family about the miscarriage in the end anyway

I'm the same....and I've seen the heartbeat twice already with my early scans. Early pregnancy is so stressful 😔 I said up the thread I worry if my symptoms are better one day even though I should be grateful I feel better for a while. I also keep dreaming that I am going to wake up and be covered in blood, can't even escape it when I'm sleeping 😔
When is your 12 week scan again?

My clinic have put on FB that they are remaining open but just keeping in with social distancing. Still allowing one person in with me too.
I am exactly the same :( I keep mentally preparing myself that they will find no heartbeat at my 12 week scan on 5th January. Such an emotional rollercoaster!

I watched a YouTube video the other day, an hour or so on the process of labour. The one main thing I took away from it is that your body knows what to do. You can help it with different positions etc but in the same way it’s just grown a whole baby without us really having much input, it knows how to get it out too x
It's true, it's actually incredible the processes your body goes through during labour, perfectly designed for the job in hand 😊 If all is going well our bodies can really do most of the work all we then need to do is to breath our way through the contractions 🤪 This was definitely my experience during my second labour however I know that every labour and birth experience will be unique.

Hello lovely people

I’m 26 weeks with my first. I haven’t gained much weight yet, which is good, because I was overweight when I got pregnant (unplanned pregnancy) so I’ve been trying to be careful.

I’m up late because over the last week I’ve stated getting really sharp achey muscular type pains between my legs (as in, my inner thighs/pelvis, not vagina!) I’m very uncomfortable. The whole lower area (lower stomach and beyond) feels full of pressure, and uncomfortable. I’m peeing constantly, worse than I was in the 1st trimester which I thought was bad enough.

Because I haven’t really gained weight I wasn’t anticipating being so uncomfortable this early on. Is this just as to be expected aches and pains? (Obviously anything excruciating I would have raised with the midwife etc) feeling fed up!! If it’s just normal I’ll suck it up but defo didn’t expect to feel like this at only 26 weeks 🤣
