I’m 15 weeks and have decided to wait until after birth. I’ve had covid a few months ago (I know you can get it twice l) but would like to think I have some antibodies. My husband and close family/friends have all had theirs though. I do go into work 5 days a week and use public transport but have been doing that since the start. I just really don’t feel comfortable having it whilst pregnant as the advice has changed so much.

I’m quite surprised a GP would go against the current advice for pregnant women given the risks but your choice not to have it of course
Well he knows my situation and knows I’m not back at work and husband working from home so 🤷🏼‍♀️ And it’s not really going against current advice as no medical professional here can seem to give a straight answer about it. Even in the maternity anybody that I have spoken to has said the same thing…. “Up to you”

Great idea for a thread.
In all honestly I’ve never WANTED the vaccine but would have it if I had to. I’m not sure how to feel about it being pregnant, the midwife told me it would be fine if I wanted to but as I’m still 1st trimester, I’m going to wait a while. My husband will get it to help but my main worry is I’m due in December when things could get rife.
It’s a lot to decide.

Great idea for a thread and lovely that people have different opinions about it on here with no judgement! ❤ I had covid in December so at the moment I don’t feel a rush to have the vaccine yet. However I’ll be due late November when it’s probably going to be around a lot more, I do have asthma, and also my partners family are really big and over excited and I know they’re going to want to descend on us after the birth, so if it gives the baby some protection during the winter months then I think I will consider getting it in a few months. It’s definitely all down to personal circumstances and it’s reassuring to read from people who have had it!

i get people that are concerned and yes i might be biased as i work for them

but take for example the astrazeneca vaccine- its very similar to to the flu vaccine
the technology has been there for pushing on 30/40 years but the genetic makeup of the virus is new so once studied its applied to the technology and then the vaccine is produced
likewise with the flu vaccine, the techology is there as we use the same one for AZ and the flu mutates every year so its gets studied and then once they have the new makeup they apply it to the vaccine and then we have the new flu jab every year

no1 ever doubts having the flu jab and then scared of falling pregnant after it
please dont shout at this :) just would like to know peoples feedback on this
I respect everyone’s opinion but I don’t even think I would consider a flu jab while pregnant. Especially when pregnant on a long awaited child..

I think it’s because there are new stories coming out each day with symptoms from the vaccine that you’d never see from the flu vaccine which is naturally scary.

A friend of mine has a mum who was super fit and active climbing mountains etc. She had the Astra Zeneca vaccine and is now paralysed and in a specialist hospital 4 months on. I know they say these cases are very few and far between but when it’s someone you know it does make you question the chances of these cases being as rare as they’re saying.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m completely not an antivaxxer at all and I’m still undecided whether to have the injection later in pregnancy when we reach winter. I just wish there was more testing that had been done on pregnancies and babies after birth! ❤
And let’s not forget the recent death of this young woman after the AZ vax with no underlying conditions… (not an anti vaxxer either but these stories need to be heard)

I had my baby 6 weeks ago and was offered the vaccine twice in my pregnancy which I declined, I haven’t been offered it since giving birth but I’m probably back of the queue now 😂 (I’m 27 with no health conditions)

Quickly quoted what I posted on the pregnancy thread as it's relevant here:
What I like to keep in mind is that they do recommend getting a flu vaccine when you're pregnant during flu season. They've recommended this for years and years now. And every year a flu vaccine is altered to work against the flu virusses that they expect to be the most around that year (hope I explained that clearly). So every year there's a "new" flu vaccine.
Also, yes, this covid vaccine has been developed quite quickly, but that's also because companies have put as much resources as possible into this and have put other research (for more rare diseases for example) on hold for the time being.
I don't believe for one second they would start vaccinating the whole world if there's even a little hint of possible world wide disaster.
But it is important to do what makes you feel safest. For me I really wanted to get it (jab 1 done) as I'm around people a lot and don't want to risk getting covid, which comes with high risks for pregnancy/the baby.

Just been and had jab number 2. They were so sweet and fast tracked me through. The lady doing my check lists asked me if I'd had any grief about getting it done and I said not to my face but I have read some nasty things online. She said quite a few of her ladies have had horrible comments which is awful really isn't it.
Anyway, 2ish hours from actual jabbing and no side effects yet. 🤞 Stays that way.

I’ve u turned on having the vaccine while pregnant and booked myself in because the cases are getting really high around me. I’m still worried about it. Can anyone whose had it tell me how far along they were and how the felt after? I keep reading such conflicting info and can’t decide if I’m doing the right thing

Totally understandable if you are not in a position to shield
My husband goes out to work. He can bring it home. I can try my best but there’s every risk still.
my friend had two doses and had her baby over a month ago and all was ok. as far as I’m aware it doesn’t cross the placenta. It’s a horrible situation for all pregnant women.

Had my first dose of Pfizer yesterday and such an achey arm after. I'd recommend getting it in the right arm if you've taken to sleeping on your left hand side!

Update for you all on my second vaccine that I had on Saturday at 29 weeks 6 days.

Side affects definitely not as bad other than I found my arm a lot more painful this time and it’s now Monday and it’s still hurting a bit.

Best advice I can offer is if you do have it done. Don’t have any plans for the next 2 days if you experience any side affects.

Just to clarify around the Moderna one and these click bait headlines about it being trialled. The Pfizer and Johnson one have already been trialled in pregnant women, up to 90k in the US. Moderna are simply running further studies on it which they should do anyway as part of the trial period which every vaccine has to go through!

I posted this in the pregnancy thread, but hoping someone may be in the same situation!!

I’m really struggling with the whole vaccination thing, I’m 21+5 and I had the first dose of AstraZeneca back in feb when I was around 4 weeks pregnant (didn’t know at the time) my midwife didn’t really give me any advice apart from, if she was me she would wait until baby is born until I get the 2nd dose. There’s just so much conflicting advice now, my head just feels completely muddled 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was thinking of you! Happy it went well.
Yeah, the achey arm is definitely real 😅 I had it in my left arm, as I'm right handed, but I also sleep on my left side.
But it should get better after a day or two!
