Hope everyone’s doing well! Am I right in thinking at the NHS 20 week scan they can’t write down the gender for you and atleast one of you in the room have to be told? x
In our hospital trust we had a printout with all of the information that they check at 20 weeks and the sex was on there. We asked her to put it in an envelope so we didn’t see it and we did a private gender reveal just for so we got the gender at that time.
You don’t have to be told the gender, you can find out when they pop out if you like!

I’m not sure, but they didn’t tell us the gender or even ask us if we wanted to know. It wasn’t even mentioned. It was quickly rushed at the end when we asked and she just said “I’m not sure, sorry!” My husband was fuming 😂 So we booked a private scan for the following day as we were a bit gutted.

Our hospital has big signs in the waiting area saying they cannot tell you gender at any scan.
We have booked a private scan to find out although I’m still not 100% sure I want to know 🫣

Our NHS appointments last time never told us! We had a private gender scan at 17 weeks and was told girl, we asked at our next NHS scans and they checked and they were like 'oh yeah it's a girl' and that's the last time it was mentioned until I gave birth :ROFLMAO:

I think my trust would tell you unless you didn’t want to know but wouldn’t put the info into an envelope for a gender reveal. We had a private NIPT at about 15 weeks and they could test the sex if you wanted so we did that so already knew but it was confirmed by what they could see on screen!

Had our 20 week scan today. Baby was in a funny position so we have to go back in a couple of weeks to finish the scan. From what they could see the baby is well.

We found out the gender. I already have a boy and this one is a girl!

I don’t mind having to go back for another scan as it’s reassuring and will get them to double check it’s definitely a girl.

I was told I have a low placenta, but it looks good, and I need a scan at 34 weeks. I didn’t ask what this means. Does anyone have any experience of it?

Long time no speak, hope everyone is doing well!

I see we've had a baby born!!!!🤍 And some new names around here!!

Me and the girlies have made it to 34+5 and it's all starting to go bits up. Baby B is measuring 20% behind A all of a sudden, so could be a growth restriction going on. Her femur is measuring like 30 weeks as opposed to 34 weeks. I think the sonographer is tit though. She never sounds confident. Scans have been sent to a fetal medicine specialist for review so awaiting a phone call. Placentas and fluid are being chcked twice a week now and growth scan every week. Got to have an iron infusion on Monday too as apparently they don't know how I'm functioning my iron is so low. 🤣

Got kept in yesterday due to high BP. Not bloody surprised after they told me we need to be referred to a fetal medicine specialist. CTG showed babies going crazy which was lovely to see as I don't feel them that much due to anterior placentas covering most of the front/sides.

Section is booked for 37+2 but it's likely now that'll be brought forward. Baby A is estimated 5lbs currently and Baby B is around 4lbs. Obviously it's never accurate, but hopefully if they need to come out sooner they're good weights currently...🤞🏼

Still spiralling about a section. Worried so much about how long and painful recovery will be along with them getting the spinal in me in the first place. I'm told bcus it's my first it shouldn't be too long or painful 😖 babies are head down now and if it wasn't for the prospect of potentially have a vaginal recovery and a section recovery at the same time, I'd be opting for vaginal all day long. Rip me open and stitch me up bcus at least it ain't 7 layers of tissue/skin/organ.

Also, what is it with men avoiding the jobs that need doing? Asked husband to build the cots with me about 6 weeks ago. Kept asking. Never got done, so did it myself. Still haven't built the next to me, or the moses baskets. The room is still a tit tip and he needs to help move some stuff around. Not sure when he's going to get the hint that these babies could be pulled out any day!!! Maybe he's in denial.

Anyway, that's my update. Enough from me.

I had a low lying anterior placenta with my first. I was told it meant if it didnt move i would need a c section however, I was reassured that 99% of the time it moves. It moved for me and it moved for my sister and it moved for my cousin so please dont stress yourself. Congratulations 💜

Feel you on the men! And when they do start, they’re in a bad mood in about 0.2 seconds!

Fingers crossed the measurement discrepancy is just down to a daft sonographer! But not what you want to hear. Those sound like great weights for twinnies (in my humble opinion!). They say elective c-sections can be nice and calm. Hoping everything goes smooth for you from here on out xx

I had similar news but mine was previa meaning covering the cervix. Thankfully the majority of them move I think 9 times out of 10 they move and if you haven't had a section then chances are high too cuz you won't have scaring ! I had a scan at 28 weeks due to a bleed and I was told my placenta has moved - your uterus grows so much that it will likely move up

I've been waiting for an update! So sorry things have taken a turn for the worst, hopefully all will be okay🤞

The potential risk of needing to recover from both a section and vaginal is why I opted for a c section and everybody I spoke to agreed that that's what they'd do as well! If it makes you feel any better, I'm now 13 weeks pp so in theory fully healed and my recovery from my c section (including the fact I have twins and a challenging 4 year old) has been 1000000x better than my recovery after my vaginal with my first, even though I only had him. (I did have an episiotomy though). I know everybody is different and has different experiences and it probably won't make you any less worried but just wanted to share some positivity about it🤍

I hope all goes well and you reach your section date but if they need to come earlier, like you say they are good weights x

I’m so glad everything’s okay, that must have been scary! X
If anyone who has graduated from the first tri can confirm if feeling less deathly is a gradual or a sudden process, I’d be very grateful 😅
In my personal experience it was gradual.
My sickness lasted from 7-14 weeks.
8-10 weeks was torture. So so sick and nauseous 24/7 I genuinely have trauma from it and would rather go through labour again than experience that!

I had a low lying placenta too. I was told in the majority of cases (including mine) it rectifies itself. We had an extra scan booked in at 36 weeks to check the placenta had indeed moved but we also had an extra growth scan at 28 weeks and we asked then and the placenta had already moved. If it hadn’t moved the required amount by 36 weeks then it would be a c section because if you go into natural labour there’s a higher risk of severe bleeding. I ended up with a section anyway but not related to that.
But I think like 95% of cases resolve themselves, that’s what the midwife and doctor told us after our 20 week scan, so it’ll probably move itself as your bump grows - that’s what happened to me :)

Hey girls! I’m nearly 12 weeks and I keep coming over feeling a bit funny but I can’t explain what I mean.. almost like before a panic attack, my body almost doesn’t feel like my own, slightly dizzy but not enough to faint,
Anyone know what it could be? Xx

Im such an idiot , I'm just after falling over at home .it was my own fault I forgot my husband had put flat pack furniture on the floor and I went in to the room on the dark... I don't even know how I landed.... I feel so stupid and the thought of going to hospital to be gaslite is not appealing to me. Im 31 weeks almost I feel so stupid

Maybe low blood sugar or blood pressure? I’ve had that feeling a few times this pregnancy and it’s almost a sense that something bad is about to happen but it always goes away again. Sometimes for me it’s followed by a slightly upset stomach / weird bowel movement but not always. I’ve never had it checked out as it isn’t constant and my bloods have all been fine. Apart from just been told I have low iron/ not quite anaemia and have started on tablets so that might have been part of it. Heard horror stories about iron tablets but have been fine so far!

It could be I guess but everything came back normal at my midwife app!! I’ll ask when I go in 2 weeks time what it could be. Thanks for your reply though it’s reassured me a little 🥰🥰 congrats on your pregnancy xx
