31+2 and I am doneeeeee. Less than 6 weeks to go until my scheduled section date. Still signed off work until the 2nd week of Jan, but currently have no idea how I can be in an office all day. Just walking to the kitchen and back is exhausting and that's without the effort of getting out of my pjs.

Starting to worry about preeclampsia too as I had protein in my urine when I had my kidney infection (which turned out to be E. coli related🥴) and they said they'll retest it in Jan to see if it's gone.

Can't stand up for long without feeling lightheaded, PGP is excruciating and don't even talk to me about sleeping. I am knackered.

It sounds so stupid I know because I’m creating a whole new life but I’m really struggling with the thought of weight gain this pregnancy. Before I found out, I’d lost 3 stone in a year and finally started feeling good about myself. I weighed myself today and at 36 weeks I’ve gained 11-12lbs which I know is pretty good going considering but the thought of feeling so crap about myself after birth scares me, especially in the lead up to summer as well.

Christ, what a couple of weeks!

My boobs suddenly decided at the start of last week to start leaking, that horrible tingly let down feeling  I'm sure that doing thing too early to 'ease' labour (collecting colostrum, drinking RLT) had a hand in toddler arriving early so that wasn't a great sign.

Last weekend decided I was taking my husband and toddler to the garden centre, mooched around for a bit and thought mmm my back hurts, best have a cup of tea & cake and sit down, that'll help. Then I started getting braxton hicks whilst we were having our cake. Then the period pains started. Went to the supermarket to do a shop as we had no food in thinking oh it'll stop eventually. They did not stop. For 6 hours. Coming in waves, on and off, had to stop in the supermarket periodically to breathe because they were getting worse. Back ache, bump ache, pelvic ache, cramps, the whole shebang.

OH eventually agreed that this was not normal and called his mum over (as my parents were at the theatre and unreachable), she took an hour to get there. Then when she arrived, OH decided he wanted to put the dishwasher on first. All the while I'm thinking jesus fuck what if this is early labour, I'm only 31+5...

Get to triage, CTG showed contractions but no cervical changes and the early labour swab was negative (amazing tech, that!) so we got sent home with orders of paracetamol and a hot water bottle/warm bath if it happens again, but to come back if any signs of water loss or repeated pains that didn't go away with paracetamol.

Baby still doesn't move a huge amount and it's so tough to tell whether she has wiggled around much or if she's just comfy cosy in one place. I find audibly saying to my husband "if she doesn't move in the next 45 minutes I'm calling triage" spooks her into giving me a good roll...

28 weeks now, baby moving lots. Work are pressuring me to go on Mat Leave now because they’ve run out of work for me to do, I’m holding my ground but it’s painful and so annoying! No I don’t want to go on maternity leave 11 weeks early!

I’m booked in to start off induction tomorrow and I feel so mentally crap. I didn’t want this, it was my worst fear tbh and the thought of not knowing how long I’ll be away from my first born actually breaks me. It makes it worse it’s the weekend so he wont even be at school. Had a massive breakdown to my husband last night and he done what men always do and tried to rationalise but my anxiety doesn’t care about that. I just find myself bursting into tears randomly. Sorry for the rant and negativity, I wish men could give birth cause I’m over this!

Collected my first batch of colostrum this evening. It was only 0.9ml but I am so proud of myself - it was time consuming and had to watch multiple you tube videos. But feeling good!
I had booked the NHS breast feeding class but it was cancelled and when I asked to get booked into another they said all the classes are full until my due date. Which is really disappointing when I mentioned this, the advice was booking a private breast feeding class… which annoyed tbh.

Any tips? I have labelled and popped in a zip lock bag in the freezer x

I’m also 35 weeks and feel the exact same way! I’m petrified and mourning the life I used to have with just us two. I’m trying to remind myself that i’ll feel silly for feeling this way later down the line, but it’s hard to put into words isn’t it!
All I wanted was a baby and as soon as I got pregnant I was so so miserable feeling sick, had prenatal depression and now i’m just shit scared - it makes me feel so ungrateful
Totally normal to feel this way lovely, I always say feeling grateful to be pregnant and not enjoying pregnancy is not mutually exclusive, both can be true at once. I hated a lot of pregnancy though I do miss some little bits like feeling him move.

Also totally normal to mourn your life before baby, BabyA is 6 months now and I wouldn’t change him for the world but I miss glasses of wine in the garden on sunny evenings, sitting down to watch tv together, last minute city breaks, all of it! BabyA is amazing but I miss feeling like someone other than Mama…all normal and doesn’t mean I’m ungrateful or love him any less, it’s a massive life overhaul! I didn’t love the “newborn bubble” everyone talks about being so special either..,also completely normal!

As someone whose appetite fell of a cliff in the final weeks of pregnancy, I would suggest to eat whatever you want whenever you want it as never know when your appetite could drop. I flew through most of my pregnancy and never had even a second of sickness, but had severe heartburn and reflux from week 32+ and I went off food completely as I saw it as the enemy as any time I would eat it would just sit in my throat and make me feel sick. I basically lived on cereal and gaviscon mints for the last 8 weeks of my pregnancy so I say if you fancy something to eat just do it and don’t worry about anything else!

Oh completely. I remember randomly taking tests every now and then because I wasn’t even sure it was real!
I’m def still in the “not real” phase. I’ve forced myself not to take any more pregnancy tests, though, as I don’t need to add anything else to my list of things to obsess over. 😆

I’m now wondering what I can bulk cook. I’m 7 weeks, ffs.

The midwives, god love them as the majority are saints and there isnt anything they can do but I wanted to headbutt mine when she said 'your body is just preparing for the baby and the sleepless nights he will bring' 🙄 no Janet, get me some sort of magic sleep smoke!

I’ve had really bad insomnia for weeks now starting just before my third trimester. I’m 38 weeks and don’t know how I’ve survived this long as until last week I was working and I have a toddler too. I’m now on mat leave and tbh it’s not that helpful as resting in the day isn’t the same as getting sleep at night. I just feel groggy and out of it, plus physically so weak. It seems to be getting worse too. The last two nights I was wide awake until about 5am. I can fall asleep in the early morning but then my toddler wakes up! It’s actually torture for me but I’m just trying to focus on getting near the end. The midwife wasn’t helpful and said it’s one of those things. I tried magnesium too but didn’t make a difference.

It’s really affected my mental health as I have nothing to look forward to in the day! I’m literally counting down the hours until the baby is out of me!

I know it's probably people are just being kind but the amount of people, strangers and people I know, who comment on how small I am is beyond a joke now. Strangers I can smile politely whilst walking off rolling my eyes but people I know are all well aware that the baby is measuring small and I have diabetes so I can't enjoy food as every pregnant woman should be allowed to without second thought! Sometimes I feel like theyre trying to upset me because they were bigger or because they secretly hate me 🤷🏽‍♀️ a School mum who I have never seen before in my life shouted across the road today 'WHEN ARE YA DUE' I said anytime really now and she shouts back 'NO WAY YOU'RE HAVING ME ON YOU'RE 5 MONTHS YOU GIRL'. Oh alright thats that then 🙄😂 I worry constantly if the baby is okay because of the diabetes and measuring so small, it's not a good thing but its out of my control I have to keep telling myself. Thank fuck its the last one and nearly over I dont think I could cope doing this again. What happened to 'you look well'? I would never comment on someones size pregnant or not.

Today has been a lot and it’s only 1pm 😅

I had my booking appt this morning which went really well and my midwife is lovely . We’ve moved areas since I had my other two children so it is a new trust and therefore a completely new care team but everyone I encountered was so nice and so that’s quelled my anxieties a bit. I had pre-eclampsia with my daughter and so it’s no surprise I’m considered high risk and will need to be on aspirin from week 12 onwards . I’ve even already had my 12 week scan appointment through on BadgerNotes which is on 6th May so something nice to look forward to !!

we’re going to tell our families shortly and so I’ve ordered big brother and big sister t shirts for my son and daughter . They came today , about 20 mins after I got the message about my 12 week scan , and I just burst into tears . Today the pregnancy has finally felt real I guess . Even with the horrible symptoms I’ve been having I guess it hadn’t sunk in yet but I’ve just sobbed for the last 10 minutes

But with great highs come great lows - my husband has spotted a patch of damp in our dining room 🥲 so now I’m having to sort out someone to come and look at that …

I’m 19 weeks now and it’s going so fast! I thought because I found out super early at 4 weeks it would drag, but so far it’s flying by.
Has anybody had an elective c-section and can share their story? I’m thinking of heading down that route, but maybe 10% of me is considering trying a natural birth.
I had an elective with my second child, after an emergency c-section under general anaesthesia with my first. It was a dream tbh. I felt more in control, everything was calm and went smoothly. I had to go in for a pre-op appointment a few days before the elective where they talked me through things, checked my obs and gave me antacids to take before the surgery. I wasn’t allowed to eat after midnight the night before and had to be at the hospital for 7.30am the day of the surgery.

We got there and had a bed in the ward. I had a gown to put on and the compression stockings. There was someone else before us and I was taken down for about 10.30am. My husband had to wait outside (in his scrubs 😂) while they gave me the spinal etc but once that was done he was let straight in and with me the whole time. Baby was born at 11am exactly, I never felt any pain just lots of weird tugging and little bit of pressure but they had made sure I was numb completely before the op. They checked baby over/did his weight etc and he spent the rest of the time on my chest having skin-to-skin. The spinal did make me very shaky afterwards and after being stitched back up they took me to the recovery bay. I did throw up a couple of times there into a sick bowl but was told this was due to the anaesthetic so my husband got to eat my coveted tea and toast. 😂 😢

Other than that I was fine, I was up on my feet by the evening and managing pretty much all of baby’s care by myself. We were allowed home the next afternoon after I’d passed urine by myself. The staff were great throughout, very calming and reassuring as I was obviously nervous going in but it turned out to be a very positive experience for me. I’ll be doing it again with this baby when the time comes.

Honestly, that’s valid! It would wind me up too 😂

I’m currently like mate, we’re approx two weeks away from a planned section, could you CRACK ON because I am sweating and the sound of you playing chess with any downtime you have is going to send me into an almighty fit of rage. Add insult to injury my dog is now experiencing a phantom pregnancy, so I feel like we’re both fed up of him 😂
My husband was amazing in fairness (still is!) but would do weird things like insist on standing there whilst I was up a ladder touching up the paint on our front door. Not offering to -do- the painting, no no, but I couldn’t be trusted to stand on the ladder, I guess just incase I forgot I was a heavily pregnant woman standing on a ladder and instead thought I was an Olympic gymnast on the balance beam and opted for some multi-somersault dismount?!?! Men are funny.
