Hoping this works as I’ve done it on my phone and don’t know if the link is right - but we shall see! New thread to discuss our love of omeprazole, how men could never hack pregnancy and how in the first trimester everything smells like the worst thing in the world…❤

Had my 20 week scan today. The relief seeing the wee heart beat was so magical 🫶🏼

I am really struggling with the body changes though. My bump doesn’t look like what I had always pictured. Pre-pregnancy I had a 5 year weight loss journey to get to my ‘heathly’ weight and lost over 7 stone. It’s really messing with my head how much my body is changing (I know it’s for the most amazing reason and I am really grateful it’s finally happened) does anyone have any tips?

Had my 20 week scan today, and found out we’re expecting a boy! I also have a raging cold and discovered I can take absolutely nothing, so my OH is in for a real treat of pregnancy snoring and sniffling tonight 😍

Am I right to go full nuclear? I just asked my OH if he could bring me a snack - fruit and yogurt to be precise, to which he replied “yes but you need to start doing some exercise”. I beg your finest pardon?! I’m hungry permanently, bone-achingly tired and already self-conscious and don’t need reminding by a bozo who went on one run and now thinks he’s holier than thou.

Had an appointment this morning and the midwife I saw asked a doctor about my platelets because last week’s result was 100 and they don’t want them below 100 and the doctor was like “Just induce her now as per guidelines” so the midwife asked if I had an induction booked and I was like “Yeah for 42 weeks because I want to give her time to come, like I’m 40+6 she’s not massively overdue” the vibe just shifted and she wasn’t as nice with me and I left the hospital crying because it just made me feel so pressured and their attitude just seemed like “Her platelets aren’t ideal so let’s just bring her in now” and now I’ve said no it felt like they were treating me like I’m an awful patient.

I don’t get it there was that article last week being like “1 in 4 births are unplanned C sections” making it out like that’s the worst thing in the world but as soon as you don’t have your baby bang on 40 weeks or there’s one thing that’s not ideal they’re like “Better induce” which is going to make more interventions (like C sections) more likely. Which is it? Do you all want medical interventions in birth or not???

Sorry if this is a nonsensical rant I just wish I felt like my views on my body and birth matter and right now I don’t feel like they do just because my baby hasn’t been born at their estimated date.

Hi all, joining the thread!

Currently 8+3 weeks (had a reassurance scan yesterday) and all was fine.
This is my third baby, I’m 36 and my two boys are 15 and 12. My 12 year old was also born at 24+5 weeks so definitely feeling 100% crackers but here we go ☺

Heyyy everyone. Finally commenting on this thread after lurking for a few weeks, found out I was pregnant on 20th jan after two previous miscarriages, now 8 and a half weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby 🌈
Had two scans already due to previous losses.
Seen a heartbeat, measuring perfectly. It still doesn't feel real to me though? Will it ever? Looking forward to chatting. X

So I’ve got my 12 week scan tomorrow and I’m so nervous, excited, worried and everything in between! I’ve started telling some close friends as I live far away and was seeing them in person. I just have a horrible feeling something might be wrong and then I’ve told my friends and then I’ll have to tell them again. Everyone keep fingers and toes crossed.

Had my results today. 1:770 of pateaus/Edwards and 1:10 of DS. Have my NIPT blood test tomorrow then the super long wait for that to come back.
Quoting myself but my NIPT results came back low risk, phew!
Next hurdle is the early anatomy scan at 16 weeks with fetal medicine.

Anatomy scan today! With Little Parsley I just knew he was a boy from so early on but with this one I’ve got no strong inkling, maybe erring towards girl but like 80% sure? So strange after being 100% certain our first was a boy! Can’t wait to find out and see them 🥹 pregnancy anxiety is finally easing now little movements are happening but still hovering. Can’t believe I’m 20 weeks and have less than 20 weeks left of work 🥳

Finally had my first scan on Friday at 13 weeks and the relief was insane! Baby was being camera shy and facing away so the sonographer was a bit annoyed at herself that she couldn't get any decent photos for us but I said that the reassurance that there really is a baby alive and kicking in there was more than enough 🥰

What are everyone's thoughts on holidaying whilst pregnant? We normally go away at the beginning of September but I'll be just over 6 months by then so I'm not so sure how I'll feel about it at that point so I'm scared to book anything 😬

I’m tentatively back here as I’m 6 weeks today, after a chemical in October. My first pregnancies so I’m still totally clueless, I have been testing frantically and stopped myself now as the anxiety isn’t doing me any favours!

My NHS trust use Badger notes, and with my first pregnancy in October I only got notification of my first appointment a couple of days before (obviously I then didn’t need it and had to have an awkward conversation to cancel!) I’m a total newbie and don’t even know when I should be having it and if I just need to wait to hear from them.

I’m full of questions about pregnancy, maternity, age (I’m 36 so ancient in baby world 🙄) so been scouring old threads trying to cram some knowledge in, all while desperately trying not to get ahead of myself. I can’t even have a conversation with OH without the caveat “if all goes well” 🥴

Don’t mind me, I’ll be here trying to learn from everyone what on earth I’m doing 😂

Hi everyone thought I'd join this thread. Still can't believe this but I am pregnant. Took a test yesterday and this morning and both positive with strong lines. Its surreal. I was trying for years before this and now it's actually happening. I think im about 5 weeks now. Symptoms are extreme tiredness, metallic taste in mouth, no appetite, mild cramps and feeling really hot!

Baby arrived last Wednesday morning. I'll put the details behind a spoiler tag as I don't want to upset anyone (please don't read if you want a positive birth story!). We are home and doing ok, post partum hormones are just kicking my arse.

So Monday night OH and I... did the deed ;) hoping to kick things off. All that happened was increasing back pain and cramps, so I calleed triage again as they weren't going away but also weren't regular. Movement wasn't great either so they advised to come in and have a CTG to just double check everything.

Got on the CTG and it was fine for a bit, then baby threw nice decel for ~5 minutes, cue emergency bell and me being rotated like a chicken on a spit until her heart rate settled at normal again. They advised that because she wasn't moving a huge amount on the CTG/the decel and because I was full term and with bulging waters at 3cm, they go ahead and break my waters that morning. I wasn't keen on this and asked for a few hours to walk around and do stairs/ball bouncing etc. to see if I could get them to break naturally. No dice, just lots of pelvic pain. Came back to the ward and unfortunately our place in the queue got moved back as there were two PPROM in triage who needed the delivery rooms so we decided to head home and let them call us back when they had space. Got home at 7pm, they called at 9pm (I was realllllly hoping for a decent sleep!) - still in a fair bit of discomfort at this point so I just went with it.

Headed back to the hospital and got settled in our room. Our midwife was amazing and pushed the doctor to agree to wait 2 hours after having my waters broken to start the hormone drip if the contractions didn't start on their own. They broke my waters about 12:30am which was far more comfortable than it was with my first (and the help of gas and air). I then did some walking and ball stuff in the room and decide to go for a wander about to try and get contractions started. Managed to get about 5 metres off the ward before they started.

I tried my best to labour in standing or on the ball but the pain went from 0 - 100 in about 20 minutes and I just couldn't manage it. Got checked and midwife said I was dilating quite quickly so decided against pethidine, tried to get an epidural - which tbf arrived really quickly - but unfortunately for one reason or another it just didn't work. I remember the anaesthetist coming back at least twice with a different unit but it kept faulting so I was getting absolutely no pain relief from it. My catheter also stopped draining so they suggested that I turn onto my left hand side to see if baby was sitting on my bladder (I felt like my bladder was about to burst) - then all hell broke loose. I have never felt pain like it. Contractions + full bladder + needing to push with no pain relief other than gas and air was not fun. Midwife checked again and said I was only 8cm so not to push yet but it was so hard.

At this point I was full on feral screaming which I always said I'd never do. After what felt like an age it was time to push and I just somehow got through it with my OH and gas + air (at one point I took so much in one go I definitely blacked out a bit). Eventually she was born and the relief was immense.

Unfortunately I suffered a 3C perineal tear (which was initially assessed as a 2 but the midwife spotted it) and lost 750ml of blood so again, the emergency bell was pulled, but managed to deliver the placenta without further issues so that's positive I guess?

Ended up in theatre for an hour and having the best nap of my life as my OH and baby girl also napped in our delivery room.

Wasn't exactly the route I wanted but I'm kinda... glad I did it? I just wish I hadn't torn so badly, it's really knocked me and I cry about it multiple times a day at the moment. Stupidly I feel more mentally well about the baby than I did with my first but the OASI has really really knocked me, all I can think is I'll never leave the house again, I'll never be normal again, I'll never have regular BMs again etc. :(

Just want to say it’s absolutely okay to desperately want to be pregnant and hate being pregnant. Just because you feel crap and miserable and huge and don’t enjoy actually the physical side of being pregnant, it doesn’t mean you’re not also grateful, I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive! When I was pregnant the people who claimed to love it used to drive me mad because I really did not love it! No shade og course if you are someone who loves it, I honestly love that you love it really, I just did not love it 😅 I felt so anxious all the time and tired and heavy and slow! I’m also a teacher and worked right up until 38 weeks which I regret now as I was too knackered to enjoy the run up to Christmas and had issues with my blood pressure in the final week which meant I spent the second week of my mat leave in and out of hospital before BabyA was born.

Not sure what the point was to this ramble but just know it’s okay not to love pregnancy!
