Opinions please

so since I’ve announced this pregnancy , I have been having a lot of questions from people in my life about whether or not I’m having a baby shower . I didn’t have a baby shower for either of my other two babies , no judgement to anyone who has had them and likes them but they’re just not really my thing . But it’s made me feel all warm and fuzzy that people in my life want to celebrate me and my baby and now I’m starting to think I would like to

would it be weird for me to organise like an afternoon tea with my close girlfriends , my mum , my sister etc ? Is it strange if I organise this for myself ? 😅 I don’t want to put the burden on anyone else and also if I do it , it’s stops it veering into a proper baby shower with games and stuff . I’m just not sure what’s the done thing. It feels a bit arrogant to organise something to celebrate myself

35 weeks and feeling SO big and uncomfortable and wondering how on earth he’ll find the room to grow larger for 5 more weeks! I also discovered last week he’s bum down… cheers bud 😂
I’m only 25-5 and i can’t imagine how you feel because I already feel like a beluga

I distinctly remember at 9 weeks pregnant being ready to go on maternity leave, and it was February so no heatwave to contend with!

Had a sweep yesterday, wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be! Been achy and sore all morning but nothing truly regular. Maybe today is the day 😶 OH is taking me to the garden centre first haha

Eeek good luck and let us know how it goes! Mine is next week and I am the same as you; I was pretty convinced my first was a boy and with this one I think it is a girl but if they tell me it's a boy I won't be surprised either. I am still not feeling any movement and really don't feel pregnant at all (compared to my first where I was so tired and heavy) so I am looking forward to the reassurance from the scan next week (🤞).
Aww the scans provide much needed anxiety relief, so I hope yours goes well! ❤ With this pregnancy I didn’t feel movement for ages even though everyone says you feel their movements earlier with subsequent pregnancies so was getting stressed but in the last week started getting more activity.

Baby Girl (yes, I was right!) was being stubborn so got to go back in a few weeks for another scan to check her spine as even after lots of wiggles, coughing, and walking around she wasn’t wanting to move position (but she did pick her nose, charming). Also because of my last pregnancy with Little Parsley being on the small side when he was born (despite having GD lol) got to have extra growth scans which is fine with me! Went to JoJo afterwards as got a voucher for there for Christmas and spent a fortune on little girly bits. I love my boy to pieces but getting to buy pink and purple things instead of dinosaur and Gruffalo outfits was quite lovely 🩷🥰 I’m such a girly girl so v excited for lots of pink until she tells me otherwise!

40 weeks today and no sign of her coming any time soon. I’m so tired and so ready for her to arrive! Little Parsley was born 2 days before his due date so I think we sort of all thought she would be here by now so it feels like she’s overdue. Trying to enjoy this “bonus” time with my 2 year old but I’m so wiped and he’s so energetic it’s hard!

I ate three bites of my dinner this evening and then had to be sick 🫠 8+4 today and so over not enjoying food and all the aversions I’m having … my husband is an absolute saint , doing all the cooking , and I feel so rude when he presents me my tea and it b literally disgusts me 😭

had a bit of a cry as we’re on a family holiday and I feel like my sickness and exhaustion are ruining it for my kids and that I’m missing out on so much 😭 it has been a gorgeous day today and they’ve spent the day on the beach and I just stayed back at our cottage rotting in bed and watching modern family because I’ve felt so rough … it’s just SO hard

Makes me feel a lot better you saying that, everyone I have spoke to has nothing positive to say about inductions at all! I'm just not looking forward to another heatwave being preggo ... 😂🥲
I’ve been induced twice and both were fine ! Don’t let horror stories scare you ! My first one did end in an emergency c section because my son was massive , and also had his arm above his head so I just could not push him out . He was getting distressed so they whipped him out but it wasn’t traumatic at all . The induction itself was was fine !

Then my daughter I was induced early because I had pre eclampsia ! It was honestly a really relaxing induction and I managed to have a VBAC !

This time I’m just going with the flow 🤣 I have a consultant appointment next week I assume to talk about my birth preferences

But lots of positive induction stories exist too 🩷

How mad do we think my husband is going to be when he finishes work and sees I’ve run out of steam about 1/4 of the way through sorting out the back bedroom (where we’re putting the next to me)… after I‘ve got everything out of the boxes and emptied the airing cupboard onto the landing floor :D

So I had a bad day. I went to hockey last night, was so careful only in training on a quiet training day so less than 10 people. So of course I got smacked in the groin with a ball. Never happened in my life before.
Luckily my bestie is obs and gynae so I was crying on the phone to her as I spiralled. We came to the conclusion as it was the bony area and no bleeding I could call for a scan if I wanted but I’d probably be fine.
Unsurprisingly I will not be going back for about 6 months.
It’s such a shame as it was the first time I had had energy in 12 weeks to actually run about!

I’m only 8 weeks but my god I feel like I am dying. My first trimester with my first child was a breeze and now I am questioning all my life decisions. Just want to lie in a dark room with no responsibilities but unfortunately that’s not possible :ROFLMAO: Wish my child would get comfy to watch a movie but we’re not there yet!

I appreciate the positive induction stories but woken up early so reading the info about inductions that my Trust have given me and oh my god I’m in tears I really don’t want this. I had one VE during my labour with my first to check progress before they gave me an epidural and I really struggled handling that, there was so much discomfort and anxiety I don’t think I can cope with how invasive an induction is. Also they’re like “inserting this can be uncomfortable so we give you gas and air” yeah well that makes me throw up. Please manifest for me that I go into labour spontaneously in the next few weeks.
If you don’t want it then don’t agree to it. But the alternative is a C section if baby needs to come out.

And don’t forget the best way to start labour is to get that oxytocin flowing so worrying about inductions will make it harder for your body! I think that’s one of my bigger gripes about it all, it’s so prescriptive (my local trust - not the one I’m birthing at - books people in for their 41 week inductions at 37 weeks!) and having that deadline hang over you can be really counterproductive to starting labour naturally.

What prams have you all got / are looking at ?

this is our third baby but we didn’t really anticipate we’d have a third so after our daughter was born we sold basically all our baby stuff . We had a Ickle Bubba which was fine for our first two but really was all we could afford

but this time my dear Granny who is 92 has offered to pay for our pram . She said she never thought she’d get to see 1 great grandchild , let alone 3 , and is giving us £1000 towards our pram . Which is amazing !!!

I’ve always dreamed of having a Silver Cross and I think the Cove looks suitable for what we need but I’m just not sure . I’m only 13 weeks so have plenty of time to decide I suppose . But I’m just curious to see what everyone else has opted for and what you recommend ?
Really depends on your lifestyle but I’m loving our brown Cybex gazelle. We got the whole system that’ll grow with my daughter and will work for future children too. It’s like a 4x4 so great for country walks and it fits SO much. V moveable, good wheels, it’s just big.
I loved our John Lewis shop experience we tried so many and the sales assistant was so helpful so if you have any spare time I’d recommend :)

Had our 20 week scan today. Baby was in a funny position so we have to go back in a couple of weeks to finish the scan. From what they could see the baby is well.

We found out the gender. I already have a boy and this one is a girl!

I don’t mind having to go back for another scan as it’s reassuring and will get them to double check it’s definitely a girl.

I was told I have a low placenta, but it looks good, and I need a scan at 34 weeks. I didn’t ask what this means. Does anyone have any experience of it?

Also not in the positive induction story camp with my first 🫣 but won’t scare anybody with the details and glad to hear that it can and does go right for others ❤

I am miserable in this heat 😭 no position is comfortable & I feel like I’m in a hair dryer. I would like to go into a walk in freezer just to take deep breaths 😭 2 more weeks to go. The hospital I’m giving birth in only lets you go to 40+5 before you need to be booked in for an induction… which makes me feel slightly relieved I won’t have another 4 weeks of this 😭

I just want to meet my baby n breathe properly again 🥲
Also looking forward to no longer having back/hip pain. I can’t seem to shift this grumpiness 🫣

Hey lovelies, long time no speak!

I'm now 29 weeks and have my baby shower in a few weeks - I've started an Amazon wish list, but it's so overwhelming! Any advice on what I should ask for? I've got a variety of people attending from close family and friends to people who have known me since I was a baby, so I don't want to seem cheeky but we want all the help me we can get if that makes sense?

Most items we already have, but it's the more practical bits / baby care bits we're thinking of, and I'm someone who thrives with a list 😂
Practical bits that don’t take up a lot of space that you’ll use when baby is slightly older, as you’ll still need to buy them, but won’t come out of crap maternity pay? Weaning bowls and spoons, messy mat, teething toys like the matchstick monkey, toys suitable from 3 months and up like the o ball toy and other tummy time toys, bibado bibs (highly recommend these - they’re pricey but the absolute best). These kind of things don’t cost a lot individually but all adds up when you’re buying stuff!
