I have like a few newborn and bought a couple of the small size. I'm kinda waiting for new ultrasound to see how big this baby is? With clothes I have some new born size one and 0-3 months for most stuff.

I feel like I’ve asked this before but I just retain no info at all at the moment!
This could have been said by me! I've been asking stuff again and again at work, lol.

Morning all ❤
I need some positive induction stories, I’m due to go in tomorrow at 41+3 - for no other reason than he’s just not here yet.
I’m quite gutted about it, I wanted to labour at home in my own comfort and just spending enough time out of hospital as possible. Now everything’s drastically changed and im feeling a bit down about it. Sorry for the woe is me post 😂 just feeling a bit meh x

My first 2 were inductions. First baby I had 1 pessary which got me to 3cms. I waited 3 days for a bed on labour ward but once I eventually got taken down and had waters broken baby was here 3 hours later.

With my 2nd I went in to have waters broken, and baby was here 4 hours later.

Do you know what method of induction they’re using? You could possibly have a balloon catheter fitted as an outpatient and be sent home rather than remaining in hospital x

We haven’t bought any nappies at all yet. We figured we’d buy a small amount of different types to see what works best? Some people rave about Aldi’s ones and other people think they’re terrible and so on for every type under the sun!

we are loosely considering reusable nappies but I think we need to allow ourselves a bit of a grace period to adapt to our new world before we go down that avenue.

Definitely try a few different brands. Aldi are ok in size 1 & 2, but didn’t rate them from size 3 onwards. Rascals nappies are my favourite, followed by Morrisons nappies.

I had an induction, I was only 41 weeks but was desperate to get her out. On reflection I would have tried to wait a day or two longer as I think things may have started. I was naturally dilated to 2cm when I went in so luckily didn’t need the balloon or the pessary so probably not that helpful but once I was in everything went fast and it was positive. I did have an epidural though as I was told they go hand in hand as the drip can cause extra pain. I felt sad about not having a natural birth start at home but I was also so bored and in pain from pregnancy I just wanted things to begin, and as I said it was a quick labour in the end! Have you had a sweep?

Silly question but one that has bamboozled me;

baby grows for the going home outfit…. Our baby girl is going to be on the smaller side when born…predict around 6lbs and a couple of oz but all the baby grows I’ve looked at at for babies 7.5lbs plus.

Does it matter? As in will the average baby grow for a newborn just be way too big? Or it’s fine?
If not fine I can’t find any smaller baby grows. Any suggestions would be great x

John Lewis and Asda I’m pretty sure do tiny baby sizes, so smaller than newborn. We only bought newborn and our baby was 7lbs 6 and we then had to pop out to Tesco and buy some size 0 (I think they were) vests.

My lovely son has spent my commute to work and my morning practising this Riverdance skills on my cervix, but from the inside downwards of course. It’s not that lightning crotch feeling which I think I lve had once or twice, and it’s not painful, but it’s WEIRD and I think I preferred it when he was sitting bolt upright in his little meditation pose with his feet over his head 🤣

Finally had confirmation that EPU will see me at 6w due to previous recurrent losses which should be next week all being well. Also had my fertility specialist letter through on Friday... had to phone up to say I don't current need it, but possibly why EPU have been in touch. 👀 Just hoping it sticks!! Nausea hit pretty bad over the weekend and the humidity isn't helping. Can completely relate to those heavily pregnant in this heat though. Gave birth to my first in the July 2022 heatwave... no words.

I don’t know how much I buy into the ‘nausea is a good sign’ thing but it does tend to mean all the hormones are increasing I think, which tends to be ‘positive’. Fingers crossed it’s mild nausea but a sticky pregnancy ❤

My baby was 3kg 49cm and she was swimming in the 0-1m. I’d definitely get size 50 (that’s Tiny baby in UK?), we needed it for 2 weeks. I only had a couple of bodies and baby grows but it was really needed. I got mine in Primark and H&M. :)

I rate Aldi ones. Pampers are crap and keep coming undone. You will, no pun intended, get through a tit tonne. We go through 4 packs a week. Unless you are having an absolute monster sized child, newborn should fit just fine. They are only just fitting my son in terms of not being too big for him (still feels weird to say) and he's nearly 3 weeks old.

You can still change your mind if you really don't want an induction. If you and baby are fine, there is literally no need for an induction. You can ask for additional monitoring to mitigate any risks. Spontaneously going into labour is still the safest way and if that's what you want, you can have that.

I hope he’s not monster sized?! So far I think he’s measuring as ‘normal’ but it’s been a couple of ad hoc growth scans rather than my official ones. Would be v. happy with a v. average sized child!

Definitely taking on board what’s been said about the volume of nappies we’ll go through. I just planned on a small(ish) amount from different places to see which ones suit him the most and then I’ll obviously send MrDragName out to buy up the entire shop of whatever nappy seems to work the best, haha! Maybe I am fooling myself here…

Hey! I really prepared myself for an induction due to a non positive experience first time.

This time I had an induction booked for 41 weeks this time but my plan was to go in and get checked and delay it to 42 weeks if all was well to give myself chance to try go into labour naturally. So don’t forget, if there’s no medical reason to be induced you don’t HAVE to be induced.

If that doesn’t happen my plan this time was to make the hospital experience more calm and relaxing than first time. AirPods with my Freya app and playlist on Spotify. Eye mask to block out the lights. I really practiced my breathing techniques this time. I remember my induced contraction vs natural contractions not being more painful but just came quicker and closer together sooner so managing your breathing through this will massively help. Get your birth partner to remind you to return to your breath. There will be points you will lose your head and just being reminded to breathe helps massively.

Also I really recommend searching for positive induction stories on YouTube. It absolutely can be positive. For me the first time round it was me not being prepared that turned it into a negative experience. This time I was really ready for it
