Baby arrived this morning! Started contractions at 1.30am. Called my maternity assessment centre at 7am to find out they were full and the other nearby one full too! Ended up arriving at another hospital fully dilated and sent to delivery 🫠
Congratulations!

this panics me did you have to travel far lol?

I had to go to triage on the weekend due to kidney issues again and was sent to the other hospital and ended up on the ward with new born babies as triage was full and no beds on the ward before birth 🫠

I had no idea it could happen! They wanted to send us to one 90 mins away but we live close to a county border and requested a different one 30 mins away. Thankfully we were able to do this or I would have had a car birth! Only annoying thing was they didn’t have access to any notes so there was a lot of questions during and after!

Omg I’m glad you were able to get to one in time and I hope you are recovering and enjoying your newborn bubble 🤍

SmallDragBaby is fine. Was knocking about in a breech position with his legs over his head (I’m 27 weeks so have no concerns about his position, there’s loads of time for him to shift about!) Has grown since last scan, sonographer said everything she looked at and measured was normal. He’s estimated to be 813g or something. Placenta at the back and high up out of the way, enough fluid round him and so on. He’s just destined to have his poor old Ma stressing out about him periodically.

I really thought on Monday that I felt kicks from the outside for the first time, whilst sitting in a big and important meeting digesting my lunch (love a meeting with a free lunch!) with my hands resting on my stomach. Based on his position today he was possibly head butting me 🤣 too funny!

Admittedly I have also just returned from an all inclusive 🙈
I keep thinking my bump looks big but today when I was waiting for my scan a lady further along than me was in and I was like ‘oh, my bump has a long way to go’ (which I say with nothing but respect for the woman, she didn’t look large, she looked advanced in her pregnancy!)

Strange one... Anyone applied for a new job (internal within Gov so mat pay not affected) just before finding out they're pregnant?! I've contemplated withdrawing my application... Closing date is in a couple of weeks so interviews probably not for another 4 weeks. I'll be around 8/9 weeks then and I know if I'm successful I don't have to tell them prior to accepting but I feel really weird about it. My contract of employment wouldn't be broken so technically it's fine, but it's a completely different team and department. Looking to see it anyone else has been in a similar position 🙈

I'm public sector and currently in a similar position, I'm 15 weeks and applying for jobs left right and centre within my org (but this is because my manager is such a piece of work I've been off sick with work related stress because her behaviour has massively escalated recently and I'm now having to do informal HR complaints and the like so I just have to get out for my own health lol). I do feel a certain level of awkwardness/cheekiness about it, but at the end of the day, you've got to do what's best for you. And when I told a senior I work with how I felt cheeky applying for a job she said "but you shouldn't feel bad, it's the law that you're not at a disadvantage" so I'm just going with that 🤷‍♀️

I personally wouldn't withdraw my application now if I were you. Assuming your notice period is 4 weeks (?) if you were successful and offered the role and you start the role in 8 weeks, you'd only be 12 weeks pregnant, that's still five months or so in post!

That said, if you think the stress of changing job and having to learn a new role mid pregnancy is not worth any benefit from a new post, then yeah sure, but I wouldn't disadvantage yourself now just because of feeling awkward about it!

Also I'll just link @ahtisyourself 's wisdom for me from the last thread when I asked a similar question 🤣❤

If it’s internal and your length of service won’t be affected then it’s an absolute no brainer to continue in the process. Even if there was that break it totally depends on the job - a toxic workplace with a bit of enhanced mat leave isn’t really a good place!
Lots of people don’t even know they are pregnant at this early stage and, without wanting to sound awful, it -is- really early so there still are some viability questions that nobody can answer. Sorry, I couldn’t think of a nice and gentle way to say that so forgive me because I obviously have everything crossed for you for a healthy pregnancy that goes to full term.

People withdraw from hiring processes all the time even at the last minute. I have myself (not for pregnancy reasons but other reasons). I once had someone show up to their first day of work with my organisation and resign within about an hour 🤣 it happens! You have to do what is right for you and everything else is a business transaction to other people.

Oh my days could've written this myself!!!!🙈

I don't blame you looking for a new internal role, but I too feel cheeky and bad even though I know it's right for me! It's such a tricky one isn't it. You're right though, I'd still have 5 or so months in post before mat leave. The other thing is I'm currently part time and this role is full time meaning I'd get a full mat pay which would be lovelehhhhh

You're 100% right and I know I need to think that way entirely as I know how common early losses can be, but it's so tricky without feeling like a fraud bcus I do know.

The role I've applied for is something I've wanted to do for a while and doesn't often pop up, so I'd be stupid not to apply, but I also don't want them to think worst of me bcus of it. Technically I have nothing to lose but my pride, but it's bloody hard to get into that mindset.

I’ve made a bit of an error today. Fizzy pop is my one true love and I went to a shop to pick up a Vinted order and they had different fizzy juice to usual places. It turned out to be American import drinks and I’ve gone and bought a grape Fanta that was a)actually disgusting anyway and b) more full of sugar (via high fructose corn syrup) than I’ve ever encountered in my life. Apparently 88% of my daily sugar intake 😳. I feel like a kid who ate too many sweets, all jittery and a bit sick. Needless to say the boy is leaping about as well.

Is there anything sensible I can do to feel less terrible?!

At least you’ll be ready for your gestational diabetes test! Ha! Not a tonne you can do but drink some water and try and have some salty snacks like ritz or cheddars.

I cannot believe I am 40 years old, in my third trimester (maybe? Nearly?!) and I overdosed on sugar 🤣🤣🤣 got the old glucose tolerance test next week, I was dreading this but now I realise it can’t be any worse than this experience!
