I am having a ridiculous morning

8.30am Ring community hospital and leave message to speak to midwife
11.30am Midwife calls me back. But they only have appointments in X town which is a PITA for me to get to from Y town. So she suggests I call the hospital and see if the unit there can have me in
11.35am Call unit at hospital. Number out of service.
11.36am Call Maternity Unit. Ask them to put me through. Can't put you through, we'll internal ring them and ask them to call you back
11.45am first unit calls me back. Person on phone says I should NOT have been told to call them. When I say but it was first suggested I come to you, NO I'VE JUST ASKED MY MANAGER AND SHE SAID NO. You need to speak to your midwives and ask them to refer you to a different unit first.
11.48am Ring community hospital and leave message to speak to midwife
13.30pm Different unit that rude person from first unit said I needed to see call me of their own volition. Did you know you had an elevated protein in your urine test last week? Omg Amy, pull up a chair I've got a story for you. Tell her the whole saga. She's like oh no no no no I'm so sorry, this isn't a community thing you need to come to the hospital for follow-up bloods and to make a long-term forward plan, can you come tomorrow. Yes I can. As you were.

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I'm very grateful for the NHS and free at the point of service healthcare but I swear to god nobody talks to anybody else
So rude person was right but rude with it, and Friday mystery caller sent everybody on a wild goose chase

I saw JuniorDragName move around last night which was new to me and pretty epic. I was getting a pulse/heartbeat type feeling, dunno if he was pulling the cord around and I could feel the pulse from the cord or if he kicking me rhythmically or what he was up to, but then my stomach did a sort of ‘Mexican wave’ motion. So I got MrDragName upstairs to have a look but he wasn’t sure if he could see it or not, I guess I had the better angle as I was staring directly down at my bump and he couldn’t fit in behind me to get the same view as me. But he did it two or three more times and it was pretty epic whilst also being slightly like that scene in Alien 🤣.

My latest anxiety fixation is the fact that the young man is breech and I don’t believe he’s turned yet, though I can’t be sure. I’d like to avoid a c-section if I can. And I realise him being breech is not the only reason for needing a c-section but it’s quite a big reason. Obviously, I just want a birth that is safe for him and me and if that is a c-section then that is what it is. But, in the meantime, is there anything I can legitimately and safely do to encourage this young lad to turn? I tried googling and some of the stuff either seemed a bit ‘woo woo’ or a bit dangerous or both!
Mine was breech at some point, no idea when he turned around.
If you felt baby kick more than 3-4 times very rhythmically, he probably had hiccups.

How can this happen to you when you can’t have a wine/beer/gin?! What a mess.

Awww really?! It was a real ‘pulse’ feeling like a heartbeat, it’s happened a few times and if MrDN puts his hand on my stomach he’s never sure if it’s his own pulse so I get him to take his hand off to check but it’s not him. That’s some epic hiccups if so. How cute!

Mine just loves sitting on his bum with his feet at his face. I’m slightly concerned we’ll get to a point where he is too big to turn or something. I think there is some lunar phase or another right now, maybe I need to jigging about in the garden in the darkness or something?!

Yeah they sound like hiccups. I’ve got a video of my whole bump shaking because of them. It’s so cute! And even cuter when they’re newborn and you hear them and you’re like 🥹🥹

Have you tried forward leaning inversion? I was recommended to do this to get baby moving they weren't breech but were in an awkward position. The way my midwife said to do it was kneeling on the sofa and hanging over the edge putting your weight on your forearms so your bump is hanging over the edge. Get someone to assist you with it though, I had to get my partner otherwise I'd fall off the sofa. This might have been something you've already tried though, there's a few versions.
Also I know someone who had the ECV at 37 weeks recently and it was successful turning the baby from breech.

Oh for goodness sake my bloods were fine, they just wanted to do them again to make sure they were fine again 🤣🤣🤣 WHY WOULD YOU NOT SAY THAT
There should be a facepalm reaction for this - why make you stress and worry when actually they could have just said that all your bloods were fine and nothing to worry about but they just wanted to double check them?! All that stress and no need for it!

Oooh, this sounds very… gymnastic! I’ll have a google. And make sure I’ve maxed out on rennies, if the position is as I have it in my head it will send my acid a-flying!

I was breech myself and MotherDragName was poked and prodded to turn me, but this lady was not for turning. It sounds like it’s proper uncomfortable but I’ll put up with discomfort to avoid the scalpel if I can help it. Obviously no shame to the elective c-section ladies! I just want(need?) to be able to drive the car because we’re a bit isolated from family. MotherDragName is quite close but not a confident driver and doesn’t like driving here where we live. MrDragName has 2 weeks off and that’s basically it, he’ll be taking some annual leave days but it won’t be much. I’m happy to be out and about on foot with the boy and our travel system but being able to get in the car and go is a handy notion!

Haha it's basically what the lady is doing in the video posted up the page nearer the end of the video. But I did the position off our sofa, and I had to get my partner to help me 😂 I'm not flexible or gymnastic in anyway haha.
I ended up actually having a c section not out of choice so totally get this, along with the actual physical recovery, not being able to drive for 6 weeks is going to be tough as I live in a small village!
I really hope you are able to get them moving 🤞🤞🤞

@ThisIsMyDragName look at the website ‘spinning babies’.
Both of mine flipped back and forth and I had no idea. The midwives had those mini hand held scanners so we could keep track between growth scans but they can be pretty accurate with the stethoscope and just feeling the bump. I couldn’t tell the difference between a head and a bum apparently.
I really wouldn’t worry though until about 37 weeks.
I did have the ECV with my first in the end and, for me, it was far less stressful or painful than it was made out to be. Glad I went ahead and did it even though I ultimately had an emergency CS.

I reckon I can get into the position, I just wonder how I’m ever getting back out 🤣🤣 I showed MrDragName and he just laughed at me! He will help but I’m not sure if he can help, haha! Could be funny anyway!

My midwife thought he had turned last appt but I went straight to a growth scan after that confirmed he hadn’t, boo! I think I misled her by saying the movements felt like they were in different places so I thought he might have turned, so next time I’ll keep my mouth shut! I can’t tell either, obviously!

I get kicked alll over so I’ve no idea on position but baby muff does enjoy hanging out on my left side. Although for a few days it feels as though they are transverse. My bump dropped a few days ago so it’s a bit weird feeling low down - I honestly couldn’t tell what position they’re in.

also welcome to the 3/4am club. 😂

I know right! I think even the most even keeled clear eyed stoic person (*) would like to know that it's all just precautionary!

(*) Incidentally, not me, I don't know her

I’m not that person either don’t worry 😂 going at midnight for monitoring because I hadn’t felt baby move for a couple of days but also only 21 weeks so wouldn’t be feeling routine movement anyway 🙄 I’m glad all ended up okay for you despite the silly unnecessary stress!

try not to stress about driving after a c section. 6 weeks is advice, not a rule. No one officially says to you 6 weeks deep ‘you now have permission to drive’. So it’s all based on how you feel really. I know lots of people who have driven much sooner, so it’s recovery dependent. They say the same about exercise, housework, lifting anything heavier than your baby etc.. which I found near on impossible to avoid for 6 weeks anyway!

I'm spiraling today, the last two days I have had very little symptoms, (, I know this is normal but I'm not thinking reasonably at the moment) . I'm 7 weeks and I miscarried at 7 weeks last time. I can't get a private scan for another week. I'm not sure if the early pregnancy unit would entertain me as I'm spiralling Im going to have another loss.. anyone have this experience? I'm in Ireland if that helps

So I turned up to my 11.30 thinking I was just tootling to a clinic for a blood to be taken then tootling back to work having told work as much. Currently sat the day ward in a lil cubicle with a bed and a hospital bracelet waiting for urgent blood test results to come back and then a doc to sit down and review etc. 👀👀👀 thankfully they let me out to go forage some lunch and I have a fully charged charging block and bought some magazines. My husband's at home like "wtf but you feel alright!" I feel fine 🤣🤣🤣
